Meerut:

A criminal wanted for the murder of a family of five in the area of Lisari Gate police station in Meerut was killed by Police during an encounter, officials said on Saturday. The accused, Naeem, had a bounty of Rs 50,000 for killing his stepbrother, stepbrother’s wife and three children in the Lisari Gate area, police said.

The encounter took place with the accused Naeem alias Jameel at Chowki Summer Garden area Madina Colony Phase – 2, where the accused fired at the police team with the intention to kill, in the retaliatory action, Naeem was injured and sent to hospital. He was declared dead there, police said.

The accused was also wanted in murder cases in Delhi and Maharashtra, police added.

Naeem was living in the Lisari Gate area by changing his name. He had killed the entire family of his stepbrother with an accomplice. According to the police, the victims had injuries on their head and there was a possibility that the crime had been committed due to reasons of rivalry.

“At Lisari gate PS, we got information that five bodies have been recovered at a house. Police reached the spot and the people said that the house had been locked from outside. Inside the house, there were bodies of a couple and their three children, it seems like they had been hit on the head with a blunt object,” SSP Tada told ANI.

The accomplice was on the run and has a bounty of Rs 50,000, police said.

A three-year-old boy and his brother, 5, walked into a police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut on Tuesday and, between sobs, urged the cops to act against their father for frequently thrashing their mother.

Pilokhari outpost in-charge Rahul Yadav said the cops calmed the children down by offering them toffees and biscuits and then asked them to share details.  

“The children said they live in Shyam Nagar. They said their father’s name is Ejaz and mother’s name is Nisha. They said their parents would frequently fight and that Ejaz would hit Nisha each time she raised her voice,” Mr Yadav said. 

The children told the cops that when Ejaz hit Nisha again on Tuesday, they did not know where to turn and decided to approach the police. 

Mr Yadav said he sent two constables to the house with the children to verify the allegations against Ejaz.

“The constables spoke to their parents and neighbours. The neighbours said the couple would fight often and Ejaz would thrash Nisha each time she threatened to go to the cops. Nisha had reportedly told her children that only the police can save her from her husband,” Mr Yadav said.

After verifying the children’s claims, the constables counselled the couple. They also warned Ejaz of legal consequences if a fresh complaint was raised against him in the future, Mr Yadav said

A woman was being shifted from the operation theatre to the general room after she gave birth to a girl at a hospital in Meerut. Thirty-year-old Karishma was put on a stretcher and was taken downstairs, through a lift which fell after the belt snapped. She suffered serious injuries to her head and later died during treatment.

The shocking incident took place today at the Capital Hospital in Meerut’s Shastri Nagar in Uttar Pradesh. People stuck in the lift started shouting for help, leading to a commotion in the hospital. Some tried to open the elevator but failed until a team of technicians came to rescue them.

The police said the injured woman was taken to a different hospital but later died due to the injuries. The doctors and the staff fled after angry relatives of the victim vandalised the hospital.

A police post is located in front of the hospital and cops in a few minutes, bringing the situation under control.

The baby girl has been kept in the nursery of another hospital. The woman was admitted to the hospital in the morning for a cesarean delivery.

A case has been registered against the doctor, manager and staff of Capital Hospital in Lohia Nagar police station of Meerut.

The Chief Medical Officer, Meerut, reached the spot and ordered the shifting of 15 patients from the hospital to another medical centre nearby. The Capital Hospital has been sealed by authorities.

The police and the CMO have formed a team to investigate the incident.

An eight-year-old girl was shot dead in Meerut as attackers, who were allegedly targeting her brother Sahil due to a two-year-old dispute, mistakenly shot her when she intervened, police said.

The incident took place on Saturday evening at the Kalindi village in Sardhana.

According to the Sardhana police station in-charge Pratap Singh, Aafia was struck by a bullet in her chest and she succumbed to her injuries at a hospital.

Police have identified two primary suspects, Masroor and Kamran, and are pursuing to arrest them.

New Delhi:

A video of a man performing a bizarre stunt by piling mud on his car and then driving it at a high speed has gone viral.

In the video, the man can be seen piling up mud on the roof of his Thar using a shovel. He then drives the car at a high speed on the wrong side of the road, which send the mud flying in the air. The stunt was performed in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut by a man identified as Intezaar Ali, a resident of Mundali village.

As part of a probe into the incident, CCTV footage was analysed and witnesses were questioned. Meerut Police later took suo motu cognizance and issued an e-challan of Rs 25,000.

A year-old murder case has been re-opened in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut after a hired killer, who is out on bail, approached the police for not being paid a ransom for the job, officials said on Friday. According to the police, the contract killer, Neeraj Sharma, was promised Rs 20 lakh by the conspirators to kill a lawyer, Anjali Garg last year, but now they have gone back on their word.

On June 7, 2023, Anjali, a resident of Umesh Vihar Colony of TP Nagar police station in Meerut, was shot dead by two people while she was returning home from a dairy.

The police had initially taken the victim’s divorced husband and in-laws into custody as they were engaged in a property dispute. However, they were later released.

According to officials, the victim was living in the house which was under her ex-husband, Nitin Gupta’s name. Her in-laws later sold the property to Yashpal and Suresh Bhatia, but the victim was not ready to vacate the house – resulting in a dispute.

A few days into the murder, it was revealed the property buyers had hired Sharma and two others to kill Anjali over a contract of Rs two lakhs.

Five people, including Yashpal, Bhatia, Sharma, and the two killers who shot Anjali, were arrested.

Now, over a year later, Sharma – who was released on bail – revealed that the victim’s in-laws and husband were also involved in the killing.

The in-laws had promised a ransom of Rs 20 lakhs and had given Rs one lakh as an advance, he told the police. Sharma could not take the remaining Rs 19 lakh due to his arrest. However, now being out of jail, he approached the victim’s in-laws for the remaining amount, but they refused it, Sharma said.

According to the accused-turned-complainant, the police should take action and register a case against the victim’s in-laws.

He has also provided call recordings with the in-laws as a piece of evidence, the police said.

Meerut:

A junior doctor was allegedly hit on the head several times with a metal tool by a patient’s family members at Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College here, officials said on Tuesday.

In the wake of the incident, the doctors went on a strike and also suspended the emergency service sitting at the department’s gate.

The doctors demanded the arrest of the assault accused as a condition of the strike call-off.

Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College Principal Dr RC Gupta told PTI that on Monday night some people had brought a woman in a dying condition.

Doctors posted in the emergency checked on the woman and declared her dead, after which, the attendants created a ruckus alleging negligence in her treatment, he said.

In the commotion, someone hit junior doctor Manish on his head several times with a spanner used in opening oxygen cylinders, he said.

According to Dr Gupta, a case has been registered against unknown persons at the Medical police station in connection with the incident.

“The striking doctors are not ready to return to work unless the accused are arrested and efforts are being made to persuade them,” she said.

The doctors, protesting under the leadership of Dr Sakshi, the president of the Junior and Residents Association, are also demanding a round-the-clock police deployment in their security.

Medical Police Station SHO Shailesh Kumar told PTI a case had been registered against two people and efforts were on to arrest them.

Lucknow:

A 17-year-old boy had stepped out of a swimming pool and walked a little distance when he collapsed, showed a disturbing video from Uttar Pradesh. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival.

The incident, which took place on Friday afternoon, was reported from Meerut.

The boy, Islam, played cricket early in the day and then returned home. Soon after, he left for the swimming pool with his friends.

“A few children were there at the pool. CCTV shows that a boy steps out of the pool, walks a little and then slumps to the floor. He is taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” said Kamlesh Bahadur, SP Dehat, Meerut.

The family of the boy has not filed any police complaint.

In September last, a man collapsed in a gym while running on a treadmill. Others rushed to help, but couldn’t revive him. In another incident from UP, a man collapsed during the dance at a wedding.

New Delhi:

An 18-year-old girl, who was dancing at her sister’s wedding ceremony in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, died after she collapsed.

The girl has been identified as Rimsha and was dancing at her sister’s ‘haldi ceremony’ (a pre-wedding event) on Friday evening.

A video of the tragic incident, which has been widely circulated on social media platforms, shows Rimsha trying to match dance steps with her family members to loud music. But, seconds later, she was seen touching her chest and trying to hold the hand of the boy dancing next to her, before collapsing.

Rimsha was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

It is suspected that she suffered a heart attack.

The tragedy struck the family, two days before the marriage ceremony, which was then performed without any music and in the presence of only close family members.

It was speeding and swerved wildly on a nearly empty road. The SUV flipped over twice and hit a balloon seller, instantly killing him, showed a terrifying video from Uttar Pradesh.

The accident was reported from Meerut. The balloon seller has been identified as Bhanu from Unnao.

Anubhav Goyal, a Meerut businessman, allegedly drunk, was in the driver’s seat. The video showed other people in the vehicle jumping out of the car window. A crowd soon assembled and handed over the accused driver to the police. It is being alleged that the cops released the man without taking any action.

After the video of the incident went viral, there was a huge uproar and a search was conducted for the accused.

When the top police officers sought answers from the police station, the section of the case was hurriedly changed to culpable homicide.

The accused, admitted in a hospital in Muzaffarnagar, has now been arrested.
