New Delhi:

A complaint about loud music played on New Year’s Eve ended fatally for a man in west Delhi’s Rohini area. 

Dharmender,  40, had a fight with his neighbours about the loud music played during the New Year’s Party. 

The police were called in at 1 am and they found that Dharmendra was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead by the doctors. 

The police identified the accused neighbours as Piyush Tiwari or Kittu, 21, and his brother Kapil, 26.

The police said when Dharmendra had complained about the music, they beat him to death.

A case has been filed and the matter is being investigated. Both the accused have been arrested, the police said in a statement.

Dharmendra is survived by his wife and three children.
 

Faridabad:

An elderly man was allegedly beaten to death in Haryana’s Faridabad after he objected to people bursting firecrackers in his locality, police said on Friday.

A case has been lodged on the basis of a complaint from the victim’s son.

According to the complainant, Vinod, three men — Raju, Dheeraj and Nandu — were bursting firecrackers in front of the victim’s residence in the Housing Board Colony in Faridabad’s Sector 18 on Thursday evening. When his father objected to it, a verbal spat ensued, the complainant said.

Vinod managed to pacify the situation for the time being but at around 1 am, the three men came back and again started bursting firecrackers in front of their house, the complaint said.

As Vinod’s father came out of the house and objected to it, he was allegedly thrashed by the three accused. Vinod and his wife were also allegedly roughed up by the three men when they tried to intervene.

The complainant’s father succumbed to his injuries on the spot, police said, adding that a hunt is on to arrest the accused.

New Delhi:

A 28-year-old man was beaten to death by a group of men after a dispute over an autorickshaw hitting his vehicle in Mumbai’s Malad on Saturday.

The victim was identified as Akash Maeen, a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena worker. He was with his parents at the time of the dispute.

On Saturday evening, near Pushpa Park, the auto driver hit Akash’s car while overtaking. This led to an argument between them, after which the auto driver left, Dindoshi Police said.

Akash was assaulted by a crowd that had gathered in support of the auto driver.

The man is seen in a video being thrashed by a group of men while his father tries to push them away. In a desperate attempt to protect him, Akash’s mother lay over his body, like a shield.

“Maeen was kicked and punched, leaving him with serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died. Based on CCTV footage, we held six persons on Sunday and three on Monday. They have been charged under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and other offences,” an official said, as reported by the news agency PTI.

The police have arrested nine people. They will be in police custody till October 22.

Kolkata:

A man was allegedly beaten to death by a mob on suspicion of theft, police said on Sunday. The victim, identified as Azgar Mollah, was a resident of Phulbari in Bhangar police station area in South 24 Parganas district, around 30km from here.

“Local residents found the accused unconscious and alerted police, who rushed him to a nearby hospital. Doctors declared him brought dead,” a police officer said.

The family of the deceased did not file a police complaint, declined to allow a post-mortem, and took the body away, the officer added.

“We have initiated a suo motu case and detained two persons after reviewing CCTV footage in the area. It showed that the deceased was badly beaten up by a mob,” the officer said.

This incident follows a series of similar incidents across the state over the past few days.

On June 28, a man was beaten to death at a state-run hostel for students in central Kolkata’s Bowbazar area over suspicion of mobile phone theft.

A day later, another person was thrashed to death by a group in the Salt Lake area on the same suspicion. Two others also died in other districts after being assaulted by mobs.

Gurugram:

A 28-year-old man was beaten to death allegedly by his drug dealer and his sons over some issue here, police said on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Raja Kumar, living in Bas Kushla village in the IMT Manesar area. He worked as a helper in a departmental store owned by Rahul Chauhan.

According to the complaint filed by Pintu Jha, the victim’s elder brother, Kumar was addicted to marijuana. On Friday morning, they both went to the accused Sanjay’s house in Kasan village to buy marijuana.

However, Sanjay and his two sons, Gaurav and Saurav, beat Kumar over some minor issue, Jha said.

Kumar then went to Chauhan and told him about the fight, Jha said.

On Friday evening, Chauhan took Raja to Sanjay’s residence again to talk about the fight and sort the issue, he said.

When Chauhan asked about the fight to Sanjay, he got angry. Sanjay and his sons dragged Raja into a room and beat him up, he added.

They then threw him out of the house in a critical condition, Jha said in his complaint.

Chauhan rushed Raja to a hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival, Jha said.

Based on Jha’s complaint, an FIR was registered against Sanjay, Gaurav and Saurav under sections 302 (murder) 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code at the Bilaspur police station on Saturday, police said.

The accused are currently absconding but will be arrested soon, a senior police officer said.

New Delhi:

 Two people were arrested while two other juveniles apprehended for allegedly beating up a man to death over a dispute involving Rs 2,300 in north Delhi’s Burari area, police said on Thursday.

Victim Priyanshu had received severe injuries after which he was admitted to LNJP Hospital. He died during the treatment on Thursday, police said.

A police official said a case of murder was registered on the statement of Priyanshu’s friend Jaikishan alias Chintu.

During investigations, it was found that Priyanshu was beaten up by five or six people who came on two motorcycles on February 11 about 11.30 am, the official said.

He also told police that among the attackers were Rohit Gaur, 22, and Ashish alias Anshu, with whom Priyanshu had a dispute over Rs 2,300.

Police said both accused were arrested and other two juveniles who were also among the attackers have also been apprehended.
