Former Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) powerhitter Mahipal Lomror sent a big message to Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, as he slammed a stunning triple hundred for Rajasthan against Uttarakhand in the Ranji Trophy 2024/25 season. Coming in to bat at No. 3, Lomror hit 300 in just 360 balls, with 25 fours and 13 sixes. This is the 24-year-old’s highest individual score in first-class cricket, eclipsing his previous best of 133 by a huge margin.

Lomror stitched partnerships of more than 100 runs with both Kartik Sharma (113) and wicket-keeper batter Bharat Sharma (54), as Rajasthan piled up a mammoth 660 in the first innings.

Prior to this match, Lomror had seven centuries and 16 fifties in first-class cricket, as well as over 3,000 runs. This was the first time Lomror hit a double hundred, and he went one step further and completed a first triple century too.

Despite his talent, Lomror has never managed to have a truly outstanding IPL season, failing to score 200 runs in any of his seven IPL seasons to date. 2024 was a decent year for the left-hander, as he put up 125 runs at a healthy strike rate of 183.

However, RCB did not retain him ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, and he will go under the hammer on November 24 and 25.

Mohammed Shami back among the wickets

Elsewhere in the Ranji Trophy, Mohammed Shami dismantled the Madhya Pradesh batting lineup in his first match back from injury for Bengal. After going wicketless on Day 1, Shami picked up four wickets in nine overs on Day 2, sending a signal that he may still yet be a good option for India’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy squad.

Shami may also sent a good message to teams looking for Indian pacers in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) found another reason to disappoint their fans on Saturday. Despite seeing Virat Kohli match his highest IPL score, 113, the Bengaluru franchise couldn’t beat the Rajasthan Royals, as the Sanju Samson-led side continued its unbeaten run in the campaign. With RCB suffering its 4th loss in 5 games, the team is staring at another below-par campaign which is likely to see them miss out on a playoffs spot yet again. Irfan Pathan, former India cricketer-turned-commentator, dissected RCB’s problems one by one as he explained the reasons behind the franchise’s troubles in the T20 league.

RCB found it tough to break RR’s partnerships, with Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson virtually doing it all for their side while chasing the target of 184. Irfan admitted that RCB don’t have a single go-to bowler at the moment.

“There are two guys playing with the strike rate of 170+ and on the other end there is not a single wicket-taker. Not a single go to bowler for RCB. How will you win?,” he said in the first tweet.

In the scond tweet, Irfan highlighted how Buttler got his 100 at a strike-rate of 172 while also remaining unbeaten till the end. Though Kohli was also unbeaten for RCB, his strike-rate left much to be desired.

“Brilliant 100 by Jos Buttler. Strike rate of 172 and seeing the team thru was an outstanding effort by him,” Pathan said.

Irfan also questioned the team selection by RCB, suggesting uncapped Indian Mahipal Lomror should’ve been picked as he has been one of the few in-form players for the franchise this season.

“Mahipal Lomror plays on this pitch in the domestic cricket n he wasn’t part of the playing 11. He has shown some form too. Indian coaches needs to get involve in the ipl so these basic mistakes doesn’t happen. This is just one example,” Pathan explained.

RCB are now 8th in the 10-team points table, with just one win in five games.
