Sheopur:

A 26-year-old man collapsed and died on a horse during his wedding procession in Madhya Pradesh’s Sheopur district, an official said on Saturday.

The incident occurred on Friday night and a video capturing the man’s last moments surfaced on social media on Saturday.

The goom was identified as Pradeep Jat, the former district president of the National Student Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress.

District hospital’s civil surgeon Dr RB Goyal said family members rushed Jat to the medical facility but he was already dead by the time.

The groom, a resident of Soonswada village, possibly died due to a heart attack, he said.

The video shows Jat, dressed in traditional attire, going towards the stage on a horse. He slowly leans forward and becomes unresponsive. A relative tries to dismount him from the horse but Jat collapses before that.

Gwalior:

The bodies of a 21-year-old woman and her teen siblings were recovered from a river on Saturday after they went missing along with their mother some days ago in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, a police official said.

Mamta Jatav (47), a resident of Kalyani village, had gone missing along with her children on October 15, after which her husband approached police, Additional Superintendent of Police Niranjan Sharma said.

“On the same day, we found a bag near Singh river at Dhumeshwar Dham. It contained a suicide note in which the woman said she and her children were ending their lives due to harassment from her husband. An SDERF team found the bodies of her daughters Bhawana (21), Bhoomika (17) and son Kittu (14) on Saturday,” the official said.

“The search for Mamta continues. Her husband is being questioned,” the additional SP added.

Shivpuri:

Three persons of a family were killed when their motorcycle collided with a van of the health department in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district on Wednesday, police said.

The incident took place near Sinhniwas village, said Kotwali police station in-charge Rohit Dubey.

Janved (45), his son Kamar Singh (25) and brother Thakurlal (55) who were riding the motorbike were killed after a collision with the state health department’s vaccination van, he said.

Janved and his son were taking Thakurlal to Shivpuri for treatment, the official said.

The van driver went away with the vehicle after the accident. Further probe is on.

Indore:

A 60-year-old man was arrested in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday for allegedly killing a woman after a failed rape attempt, dismembering her body and dumping the parts in two trains, a police official said.

Accused Kamlesh Patel had lured her to his house when she was sitting at a railway station on June 6, the official said.

“The woman had left her home on June 6 after a fight with her husband. The woman was sitting at Ujjain railway station to go to Mathura when Patel lured her to his house and spiked her food with sleeping pills. He tried to rape her but she got up and raised an alarm.,” Railway Superintendent of Police Santosh Kori said.

“Patel strangled her, cut her body into pieces and placed it in the Indore-Nagda and Indore-Dehradun passenger trains. The hands and legs of the 37-year-old victim were found in a train in Rishikesh in Uttarakhand on June 10, while the rest of the body was recovered from a train in Indore on June 9,” he said.

Meanwhile, a missing person complaint was filed by her family in Bilpank police station in Ratlam district on June 12, Kori said.

Patel was held from Ujjain and the knife used in the crime has been recovered along with other evidence, the SP added.
