Pappu Yadav has been vocal about receiving multiple life threats.

New Delhi:

Pappu Yadav – the gangster-turned-political leader – has been getting death threats, a few apparently from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Now the police have arrested a man, who they say is responsible for that.

Rambabu Yadav, 21, is a resident of Dumriya village and apparently has friends who peddle drugs. In a WhatsApp message on Friday last week, he had threatened to kill the Purnea MP within 24 hours unless he apologised for his remarks on Lawrence Bishnoi.

Though he has claimed to be a part of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, he has no criminal record and his motive in issuing threats is not clear, the police said.

Rambabu was arrested by Purnia Police from a village in Bhojpur district. He has claimed to be a member of Lawrence Bishnoi’s Bihar team.

Rambabu is the son of Rameshwar Rai, a resident of Dumriya village. His mother Geeta Devi is a housewife. The eldest of three siblings, Rambabu dropped out after Class 10 and dived into a life of crime, his mother said. She added that he had left home and was living with drug addicts and peddlers.

Pappu Yadav has received dozens of threats after he publicly vowed to destroy the network of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi after the murder of NCP’s Baba Siddique in Mumbai. The crime is suspected to have been conducted by the Bishnoi gang.

This is the second man to have been arrested for the threats to the Purnia MP. Earlier a man was arrested by the Delhi Police.

On February 9, two people were shot multiple times in front of other customers and workers.

New Delhi:

Members of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang and other wanted criminals prefer to hide in the US, a sharpshooter of the group who was arrested for killing two at a Delhi salon has told the police.

The accused man, Harsh alias Chintu, has reportedly told the police that these gangsters enter America using fake passports by the “donkey route”, the term that describes travelling from one place to another to migrate illegally.

That is believed to be the route taken by several gangsters, including Goldy Brar, Anmol Bishnoi, Rohit Godara, Monty Mann, and Pawan Bishnoi, who are currently in the US.

22-year-old Harsh was arrested on Thursday from the Delhi airport, where he arrived to arrange for another fake passport, officials said.

The fake passport accessed by NDTV shows that Harsh’s name was written as Pradeep Kumar and it was issued from Punjab’s Jalandhar on March 26.

According to the police, Harsh left India on June 9 from Amritsar Airport and flew to Sharjah before heading to Azerbaijan on August 27, where he remained for several months.

Delhi salon shooting incident

On February 9, two people, identified as Sonu Tehlan and Ashish Tehlan, were shot multiple times in front of other customers and workers. The attackers fled after the attack.

During investigations, the shooters were identified as Sanjeev Kumar or Sanju Dahiya and Harsh – both were previously involved in criminal cases and declared proclaimed offenders. The police had also offered a reward of Rs 50,000 for their arrest.

The police had issued a lookout circular – or airport alert – for Harsh, whose alleged motive for the shootings was that the victims were leaking information on him.

Harsh had been operating on the orders of gangster Yogesh (aka Tunda), who had taken over the Gogi gang after its leader’s murder. Harsh is also known to have been involved in extortion activities and had previously been arrested in connection with an extortion case. He was also recently involved in threatening several businessmen in Delhi and demanding money in the name of gangster Yogesh, reported news agency PTI.

Lawrence Bishnoi is currently lodged in a Gujarat jail.

New Delhi:

Lawrence Bishnoi, the alleged mastermind behind the killings of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique and Punjabi singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala, was arrested for the first time about 13 years ago when he set fire to some vehicles in Chandigarh after a fight with a student leader.

Bishnoi, who was involved in student politics at Panjab University back then, was in police custody for a day, former Chandigarh inspector Amanjot Singh told NDTV on Tuesday.

A son of a police constable in Punjab, he was only 18 when he set vehicles parked outside Sector 11 in Chandigarh on fire, the officer said.

Lawrence Bishnoi, on June 14, 2022, was produced in Delhi Court in connection with the killing of singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala

“He was very innocent at that time. When the police used to arrest him, he sometimes called the officials uncle or sir,” Mr Singh said.

“He did whatever his party leadership told him,” Mr Singh said, adding that he “never thought” that Bishnoi would become “such a big gangster”.

Mr Singh, who arrested the 31-year-old dreaded gangster numerous times, said that when Bishnoi was arrested for the sixth time, he had said that the “police of 7-8 states will search” for him.

Lawrence Bishnoi first grabbed headlines when he publicly threatened to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan in 2018, accusing him of allegedly poaching two blackbuck antelopes – a revered animal for Rajasthan’s Bishnoi community to which he belongs.

During a court appearance in Jodhpur, Bishnoi said, “We will kill Salman Khan. Everyone will know once we take action.”

Incidentally, Baba Siddique, who was shot dead by three persons in Mumbai last month, was known to be Salman Khan’s close friend.

Bishnoi is also the prime accused in the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala, who was shot dead in Punjab in 2022.

“Lawrence Bishnoi Transformed In Jail”

Mr Singh said that Lawrence Bishnoi initially worked on his party leadership’s instructions but later “transformed” in the jail.

“Initially, he kept working on his party leadership’s instructions. But when he kept going to jail, his transformation happened very fast. He came in contact with big gangsters and his influence kept increasing,” he said.

“When he kept going to jail again and again, there were some prisoners in the jail, who had committed big crimes, who felt that there was something special about Bishnoi. They then started using him,” Mr Singh said.

They took him under their protection because they knew that Bishnoi was going to get bail, he added.

Lawrence Bishnoi Met His “Mentor” Rocky Fazilka In Jail

Lawrence Bishnoi considered gangster Ranjit Jasvinder Singh, alias Rocky Fazilka, as his mentor, Amanjot Singh said.

“When Lawrence Bishnoi went to Banda jail in Uttar Pradesh, he met another gangster Ranjit Singh “Dupla”, who was very close to Rocky Fazilka. He was the one who introduced him to Fazilka,” Mr Singh said.

Rocky Fazilka, a resident of Punjab’s Ferozepur, was impressed by Bishnoi and took him under his custody.

As their villages were nearby, they became close aides, Mr Singh said.

Bishnoi has been in prison since 2015 and is currently lodged in Gujarat.

The accused made a threat call to Shah Rukh Khan and demanded Rs 50 lakh

Mumbai:

A man has been arrested for issuing a death threat to Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, police said today. Mohammad Faizan Khan, a lawyer, was arrested from his residence in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur for making the threat call to the 59-year-old actor and demanding Rs 50 lakh.

He was arrested after he failed to appear before the Mumbai Police.

Faizan had earlier said his mobile phone – which was used to make the threatening call last week – was stolen. He also said that he filed a police case on November 2.

A case against him was registered by the police under sections 308(4) (extortion involving threats of death or serious injury) and 351(3)(4) (criminal intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as the threat call was made from a phone number registered in his name.

Shah Rukh Khan – called ‘King Khan’ by his fans – received a death threat last October; this was after the success of two movies – ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’.

Mumbai Police had then upped the actor’s protective cover, giving him a Y+ security blanket. This ensures he is accompanied by six armed personnel around the clock; earlier he had two security personnel, also armed, accompanying him.

The threat to Mr Khan follows a series of threats issued to his fellow actor Salman Khan, allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Last week, a 32-year-old man from Rajasthan was arrested in Karnataka after issuing a death threat to Salman Khan. This was a day after he received a threat from jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who demanded he apologise at a temple (for the killing of a blackbuck, an endangered deer sacred to the Bishnoi community) or pay Rs 5 crore.

Baba Siddique, 66, was shot dead by three gunmen in Mumbai on October 12.

New Delhi:

Shiv Kumar Gautam, the main accused in the murder case of Maharashtra politician Baba Siddique, has made big revelations during police interrogation. The 20-year-old was arrested along with his four aides from Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich on Sunday while he was trying to flee to Nepal. He is among the three shooters who shot dead Mr Siddique outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai on October 12.

During interrogation, he told the police that Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, had told him to shoot the 66-year-old NCP leader or his son, Zeeshan, police sources said.

“Shoot whoever you see first,” Anmol apparently told Shiv Kumar.

Before carrying out the murder, Anmol Bishnoi, who is believed to be in Canada and is also on the most-wanted list of the National Investigation Agency, had given a pep talk to Shiv Kumar.

Mumbai police crime branch sources said Anmol told him what he was going to do was for “God and the society.”

A picture of Zeeshan Siddique, 32, was reportedly found on a cell phone seized from one of the three men who shot his father.

Shiv Kumar Gautam Changed Clothes After Baba Siddique Murder

After killing Baba Siddique, Shiv Kumar Gautam immediately changed his shirt and disappeared into the crowd so that no one could identify him, Mumbai police crime branch sources.

He then stayed near the crime scene to avoid any confrontation.

The 20-year-old then initially travelled from the crime scene to Kurla in an auto and then boarded a local train to Thane, sources said.

From Thane, he took a train to Pune and dumped his mobile phone during the journey.

Shiv Kumar stayed in Pune for about seven days and then went to Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi by train. He then stayed there for five days and went to the state capital Lucknow.

In Lucknow, he bought a new mobile and contacted his aides. After spending 11 days there, he travelled to his native Bahraich and met his aides, who had arranged a safehouse for him in a nearby village.

Shiv Kumar also said that after killing Baba Siddique, he first planned to go to Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain and then to Vaishno Devi in Jammu before fleeing the country.

How Cops Caught Shiv Kumar Gautam

The police traced about 45 people, including Shiv Kumar Gautam’s family members and his close aides, and tracked their movements after Baba Siddique’s murder.

During the investigation, they zeroed down to four people who were constantly in contact with Shiv Kumar, police sources said.

The police then laid a trap and waited for those four accused to meet Shiv Kumar. They then caught him from the Nanpara area of Bahraich on Sunday.

He was arrested in a joint operation by the police officials of Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai.

Anurag Kashyap, Gyan Prakash Tripathi, Akash Srivastava and Akhileshendra Pratap Singh were also arrested for giving shelter to Shiv Kumar and helping him escape to Nepal.

The police have so far arrested 20 in the case.

Baba Siddique was murdered apparently because of his close relationship with actor Salman Khan. Lawrence Bishnoi’s associates have hinted that the grouse against Mr Khan is about the blackbucks he killed 20 years ago. Blackbucks are sacred to the Bishnoi community.

Shiv Kumar Gautam was on the run since Baba Siddique’s murder

New Delhi:

Shiv Kumar Gautam, the main accused in the murder case of Maharashtra politician Baba Siddique, was arrested from Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich on Sunday. Sources said he was trying to flee to Nepal.

Shiv Kumar, along with two other accused — Gurnail Singh, a resident of Haryana and Dhramraj Kashyap of Uttar Pradesh — shot dead Mr Siddique, 66, outside his politician son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai on October 12.

While Singh and Kashyao were arrested immediately after the attack, Shiv Kumar had managed to flee.

Shiv Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was caught in a joint operation by the police officials of Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai from the Nanpara area of Bahraich.

During interrogation, he apparently said they were in Mumbai for days conducting recce for the NCP leader and on the night of October 12, “When we got the right time, we killed Baba Siddique”.

Police sources said Shiv Kumar has also admitted that he is linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The murder, he allegedly said, was carried out on the instructions of Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Anmol’s name has also cropped up in the murder of Punjabi singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala in 2022, and the firing outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai in April. He is on the most-wanted list of the National Investigation Agency, and a Rs 10 lakh reward has been announced for his arrest.

How Cops Caught Shiv Kumar Gautam

After the murder of Baba Siddique, Shiv Kumar had gone to Omkareshwar in Madhya Pradesh to meet some henchmen of the gang. The Mumbai police had tracked him to Omkareshwar but failed to catch him.

The police then traced about 45 people, including Shiv Kumar’s family members and his close aides, and tracked their movements.

During the investigation, they zeroed down to four people who were constantly in contact with Shiv Kumar, police sources said.

A house next to Shiv Kumar’s residence was apparently made a safe house for him. The police then laid a trap and waited for those four accused to meet Shiv Kumar. They then caught him and his four aides there on Sunday.

Anurag Kashyap, Gyan Prakash Tripathi, Akash Srivastava and Akhileshendra Pratap Singh were arrested for giving shelter to Shiv Kumar and helping him escape to Nepal.

Investigators said Baba Siddique’s son and Mumbai MLA Zeeshan Siddique is also a target for the same reason. His photo was reportedly found on a cell phone seized from one of the three men who shot his father.

At least six to seven rounds were fired outside the house

New Delhi:

Two men affiliated with the Bambiha Gang, the rival of the incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, opened fire at the residence of a businessman in Delhi, police said today.

The shooting occurred in North West Delhi’s Rani Bagh around 8.40 am on Saturday and the two accused, who were on a bike, threw a chit on which ‘Bambiha Gang’ was written.

At least six to seven rounds were fired outside the house, officials said. However, no call has so far been received regarding extortion.

Delhi has witnessed an increase in firing incidents as part of extortion attempts recently.

Last month, three sensational incidents of firing occurred in the capital — at a car showroom in Naraina in west Delhi, a hotel in southwest Delhi and the sweet shop, all were linked to extortion activities by gangsters.

In the first incident, shots were fired at a second-hand car showroom called ‘Car Street Mini’ in southwest Delhi’s Naraina, barely a kilometre from the Naraina police station. Officials said at least 20 rounds were fired by three men who entered the showroom, causing panic in the area.

The shooters left behind a slip, reading “Bhau Gang, Since 2020”. The “Bhau Gang” mention was seen as a reference to wanted gangster Himanshu Bhau, who fled the country in 2022 and is currently believed to be in Portugal. He had also claimed responsibility for the murder of a man at a food outlet in Delhi.

In May, a similar shooting was carried out at a car showroom in West Delhi’s Tilak Nagar and the same gang was suspected to be behind the attack. Sources Rs 5 crore was demanded from the owners of the ‘Fusion Cars’ showroom.

The second shooting took place in southwest Delhi’s Mahipalpur when a bike-borne shooter fired at least 5-6 rounds at the Hotel Impress and damaged its glass gate.

According to sources, the firing was done to extort money and take over the hotel. Last year, a man had threatened the hotel owner in the name of Canada-based gangster Goldie Brar.

Brar, along with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in a jail in Gujarat, are also accused of carrying out a shooting outside the Mumbai residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan earlier this year.

The third incident took place in west Delhi’s Nangloi where bullets were fired at a sweet shop. The police found a slip with the name of jailed gangster Deepak Boxer.

Lawrence Bishnoi runs his criminal gang from Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail (File).

New Delhi:

Seven ‘shooters’ working for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, linked to the gunfire outside Bollywood star Salman Khan’s home and the murder of ex-Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui, have been arrested – across Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi – over the past 48 hours, sources told NDTV Friday.

Six semi-automatic weapons and ammunition were recovered in what Delhi Police’s Special Cell has claimed as “pan-India” action. The hitmen are being interrogated about Baba Siddiqui’s murder and other operations of the Bishnoi gang, which has also been named by Canadian federal police as having links to “agents” of the Indian government and cases of homicide and extortion.

Sources said the Bishnoi gang shooters – the first arrest was made on Wednesday – had been given a list of targets, including one (as yet unidentified) person in Haryana. Another possible (also as yet unidentified) target was in Rajasthan, and his execution had been cleared by Arzoo Bishnoi.

The arrest of the seven hitmen, and others in connection with the Baba Siddiqui murder, Salman Khan firing, and killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala in 2022 – is only the tip of a vast criminal syndicate run by Lawrence Bishnoi from his prison cell in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail.

Rs 1.11 Lakh ‘Bounty’ On Bishnoi

Bishnoi’s infamy led to an ironic twist of fate this week after the Kshatriya Karni Sena, a Rajput group, offered a cash reward of Rs 1.11 lakh for the ‘encounter’ death of the gangster.

That followed the killing of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, a prominent Rajput leader, in December.

Eight members of the Bishnoi gang were arrested in that case, but one of his trusted aides, Rohit Godara, who planned the hit, escaped. Intel said he fled India using a fake passport.

Unsurprisingly Godara is believed to be in Canada, where the Bishnoi gang has a strong base.

Baba Siddiqui Murder

Over a dozen other Bishnoi gangsters, including two of the three shooters, have been arrested in connection with the killing of Baba Siddiqui. The main shooter, Shivkumar Gautam, and two other persons involved in the murder conspiracy, are on the run, the police have said.

The three shooters threw chilli powder at the police officer guarding Siddique before killing him.

The two arrested have been identified as Gurmel Baljit Singh, 23, of Haryana and 19-year-old Dharmaraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh.

Salman Khan Firing Case

Last Thursday Navi Mumbai Police arrested another Bishnoi shooter – named Sukha – from Panipat in Haryana. And, among the other shooters involved, is one Vishal, who has links to Rohit Godara.

Vishal is also wanted in connection with the killing of a Gurguram businessman in March.

How Bishnoi Gang Works

Orders to henchmen in India and abroad are routed through deputies, including Bishnoi’s brother Anmol, on whom the NIA today placed a Rs 10 lakh bounty.

Anmol Bishnoi is wanted in connection with the firing outside Salman Khan’s home.

The Bishnoi gang is known to be involved in various criminal activities, including homicide, extortion, and arms trafficking, and their profile has been on the rise over the past few years.

The group primarily extorts money from high-profile targets, including celebrities like Punjabi singers, the liquor mafia, and other prominent businessmen, employing professional shooters to carry out hits and intimidate victims into submission.

The incident comes in the backdrop of the recent murder of Baba Siddique. (File)

Mathura, Uttar Pradesh:

Mathura Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shailesh Pandey has suspended three police personnel after a video statement of Yogesh, a sharpshooter of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang went viral. The sharpshooter was seen speaking to local media crews while being in police custody at the Refinery police station.

Shooter Yogesh had said that his encounter in Mathura was fake. He had given a statement on NCP leader Baba Siddiqui who was shot dead in Mumbai.

Sub-inspector Ramsanehi, head constable Vipin and constable Sanjay posted at Refinery police station have been suspended by SSP Pandey.

Yogesh, involved in a murder case in Delhi, was arrested by the Delhi Special Cell and Mathura Police in a joint action on Thursday.

Delhi police’s special cell in a joint operation with Mathura Police arrested Yogesh, a shooter of the Lawrence Bishnoi-Hashim Baba gang on Thursday in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old gym owner.

SSP Mathura Shailesh Pandey said, “In a joint operation between police and Delhi Special Cell team, a sharpshooter named Yogesh, who is said to have linkages with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has been injured in an encounter. He has been wanted in a murder case in Delhi.”

The gym owner, identified as Nadir Shah, was shot dead in full public view in South Delhi on September 12.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened at the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan after fresh death threats were received demanding an extortion payment of Rs 5 crore.

This comes after the Mumbai Police had said that a threatening message was received on the WhatsApp number of Mumbai Traffic Police, demanding Rs 5 crore from actor Salman Khan “to end his long-standing rivalry with Lawrence Bishnoi.”

The person who sent the message claimed to be close to Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang and claimed to put the actor’s life in danger if not provided with the extortion money.

The sender claimed, “Don’t take it lightly, if Salman Khan wants to stay alive and wants to end the enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi, then he will have to pay Rs 5 crore. If the money is not given, Salman Khan’s condition will be worse than Baba Siddique’s.”

The incident comes in the backdrop of the recent murder of Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddique.

Following Siddique’s assassination, which occurred outside his office on October 12, the police have intensified their search for the suspects involved in his death.

A look-out circular was issued for Shubham Lonkar, along with two additional suspects, Shiv Kumar Gautam and Zeeshan Akhtar, who are believed to be trying to flee to Nepal.

Yesterday, the Navi Mumbai Police arrested a key member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Mumbai:

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been issued a death threat, allegedly by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, demanding Rs 5 crore to “end the enmity”. A WhatsApp message, sent to Mumbai Traffic Police, warned that if the money is not paid, then the actor’s fate would be worse than that of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, who was murdered recently, allegedly by Bishnoi gang members.

“Don’t take this lightly. If Salman Khan wants to stay alive and end the enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi, he must pay Rs 5 crore. If the money is not given, his condition will be worse than Baba Siddiqui’s,” the threat message read.

According to sources, the Mumbai Police is working to track the origins of the message and have increased security around Mr Khan’s Bandra residence. The actor has been on high alert following previous threats, and this recent development has added renewed concerns about his safety.

Yesterday, the Navi Mumbai Police arrested a key member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The accused, identified as Sukha alias Sukhbir Balbir Singh, was apprehended in Haryana’s Panipat and has been linked to an alleged plot to assassinate Mr Khan. Singh had reportedly given a contract to other gang members to carry out the attack on the actor.

According to police sources, Singh had been in direct contact with his handler, Dogar, a Pakistani-based figure, to coordinate the planned attack. The gang had allegedly intended to use high-powered firearms, including AK-47s, M16s, and AK-92s, smuggled from Pakistan to execute the plot.

Singh’s arrest is the latest in a series of breakthroughs in a broader investigation into the Bishnoi gang’s conspiracy against Mr Khan. Earlier this year, the Navi Mumbai police registered an FIR against 18 individuals from the gang for plotting to kill the actor. The FIR followed a shocking incident in which members of the gang fired outside Mr Khan’s Bandra residence.

Among the accused named in the case are high-profile members of the Bishnoi gang, including Lawrence Bishnoi himself, his brother Anmol, Sampat Nehra, Goldie Brar, and Rohit Godhara. These individuals have long been linked to organised criminal activity across North India and have become notorious for their brazen threats and acts of violence.

The ongoing police investigation has uncovered disturbing details about the gang’s planning. Police sources revealed that the Bishnoi gang had deployed between 60 to 70 operatives to monitor Mr Khan’s movements. These individuals conducted reconnaissance at various locations, including Mr Khan’s Bandra residence, his Panvel farmhouse, and the actor’s shooting locations. The gang even attempted to recruit minors to act as sharpshooters.

This is not the first time Mr Khan has been the target of death threats linked to the Bishnoi gang. In 2022, a letter threatening the actor was discovered on a bench near his residence, and in March 2023, the actor received an email allegedly sent by members of the gang. In January 2024, two unidentified individuals attempted to trespass into Mr Khan’s Panvel farmhouse using fake identities, an incident that prompted the actor to increase security around his property.

Mr Khan’s feud with Lawrence Bishnoi dates back several years. The gangster, currently imprisoned, has reportedly harboured a grudge against the actor over his alleged involvement in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The Bishnoi community reveres the blackbuck, and the incident is the primary reason why the gang seeks revenge.
