Lamborghini India could not immediately reach out about the matter.

New Delhi:

Raymond Group Chairman and Managing Director Gautam Singhania has blasted Italian carmaker Lamborghini for “arrogance” having failed to reach out to him regarding an issue with his car.

Mr Singhania had earlier tweeted on X about his Lamborghini Revuelto getting stranded at Mumbai’s trans-harbour link due to a complete electrical failure.

“I’m shocked at the arrogance of India Head @Agarwal_sharad and Asia Head Francesco Scardaoni. No one has reached out even to check what the customer issues are,” he tweeted on Sunday.

Lamborghini India could not immediately reach out about the matter.

In a tweet on October 16, Mr Singhania had noted that the Lamborghini India and Asia leadership failed to reach out to him despite him being an old loyal customer.

“It is shocking that the India Head of Lamborghini @agarwal_sharad has not even bothered to make a phone call to enquire what the problem with an old loyal customer is. Is the brand arrogance getting to another level?” he tweeted.

Earlier this month, Singhania had tweeted about taking his new Lamborghini Revuelto for a test drive and ended up stranded on the trans-harbour link due to a complete electrical failure.

“It’s a brand-new car’. Are there reliability concerns? This is the third one I’ve heard of experiencing issues within 15 days of delivery,” he had stated.

Lamborghini Revuelto is priced around Rs 8.89 crore in India.

The video has gone viral on social media.

A Lamborghini owner recently shared a delightful moment with a traffic police officer. Entrepreneur Nishant Saboo was stopped by the officer for a routine inspection. However, instead of the expected tension, Mr Saboo found a fellow car enthusiast in the policeman. Mr Saboo wrote, “Police stopped my Lamborghini, but after confirming everything was clear, no challan, they asked permission to take photos with the Lambo.”

“It’s great to see that even those in uniform have a passion for supercars,” he added. The man then invited him in to take a closer look. The police officer sheepishly got inside and was seen smiling as he admired the sleek design of the luxury car.

Take a look here:

“We need such happy police,” a user commented under the post.

Another said, “You are the first person in a supercar to spread happiness.”

“You have proved that happiness increases by sharing it,” a comment read.

Nishant Saboo is the founder and director of Ceramic Pro, a company specialising in advanced ceramic nanotechnology protective coating systems for automobiles. He is also the creator of SuperCarscommunity_India, a popular Instagram-based platform that showcases luxury cars across India.

This is not Mr Saboo’s first encounter that has warmed hearts online. Earlier, he shared a video featuring a differently-abled man admiring the lavish collection of cars outside his showroom. Although the man didn’t enter, he expressed his admiration for the vehicles from a distance.

Mr Saboo wrote in the comments, “I got his contact number. Once I’m back in Hyderabad, I will surely call him to the showroom and take him for a quick spin in my Lambo.”

The Lamborghini suffered extensive damage in the incident.

A man in Brazilian city of Sao Paulo rammed his Lamborghini into a thief who stole his Rolex watch at gunpoint. According to CNN Brazil, the incident took place in the upscale region of Avenida Brigadeiro Faria Lima on Saturday, May 18. Videos of the incident appeared on social media and were widely circulated. The clip shows the green-coloured Lamborghini racing towards a two-wheeler – being driven by the thief – as he tries to escape. The thief, however, ran away.

Watch the video:

The outlet said that Lamborghini driver was approached by the thief on a motorcycle while he had stopped the vehicle at a traffic light. He forcefully took the lavish timepiece and tried to run away from the scene.

Soon, the traffic started moving and the Lamborghini driver decided to chase the man on the two-wheeler, as seen in the video. The car is seen speeding up to catch with the escaping biker.

As the robber attempts to make an illegal left-hand turn, the furious Lamborghini owner steps on the gas pedal and ploughs into his motorbike.

The supercar then smashes into a pole, sending the traffic lights to topple to the ground.

Luckily, the robber survives and is seen quickly getting back to his feet and dashing away from the crash scene, abandoning his wrecked motorcycle.

Brazilian outlet Metropoles said the watch was valued at Brazilian real 200,000 ($40,000 or Rs 32 lakh) and the man suspected of stealing it has been identified.

Quoting local police, the outlet said that the man lives in Taboao da Serra and was using a motorcycle registered in his mother’s name.

While running away from the site of the crash, he left a 32-caliber revolver used in the robbery and a cellphone, which helped investigators identify him.

In Chandigarh and Puducherry, the proportion of luxury cars to non-luxury cars was higher

The number of luxury cars in India recorded a sharp increase in the last five years, an analysis of vehicle registration data shows. Nearly 5 lakh luxury cars have been registered till date in India across various Regional Transport Offices, according to the Vahan portal. Of them, close to 30% were registered in the 2020-2024 period. This number is significantly high considering that the first two years in this period coincided with the pandemic and various sections of the economy were still in the recovery phase in the following two years.

For this analysis, certain manufacturers were termed luxury brands based on reports published in various credible news portals. The selection includes the following manufacturers: Lamborghini, BMW India, Porsche, Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Bentley Motors, Lexus Motors, Rolls Royce, Ferrari India, Audi AG, Aston Martin, Maserati, Acura Legend and Alfa Romeo. In some cases, the price of cars was also considered.

Table 1 | The table lists the luxury brand-wise number of cars registered in India till date (A), the number of cars registered between 2020 and 2024 (B), and the share (B as a % of A).

As stated earlier, the registrations of 30% of all luxury cars were done between 2020 and 2024. However, while some brands have gained popularity, others have not. For instance, over 40% of all the BMWs registered till date were purchased in 2020-2024; in contrast, the corresponding share for Audis was 7%. Similarly, 52% of Lamborghinis, 33% of Porsches, 30% of Jaguar Land Rovers, and 29% of Mercedes-Benz cars registered till today were purchased in 2020-2024. In contrast, the corresponding numbers were 10% for Rolls Royce cars, 13% for Bentleys, 8% for Ferraris, and 4% for Aston Martins. This shows that preferences have gone through a significant change in the past four years.

Chart 2 | The chart shows the number of luxury cars registered till date across various States along the horizontal axis. The farther to the right, the higher the number of luxury cars registered in the State.

There were also significant variations among States. Maharashtra leads the list by a wide margin with more than 94,000 such cars registered in the State till date. This is followed by Karnataka (56,396 cars), Delhi (49,971), Gujarat (42,101), and Tamil Nadu (40,423).

While absolute numbers are important, a comparison with non-luxury cars registered in the States provides a better picture. For this purpose, one luxury car registered in a State for every 1 lakh non-luxury cars is plotted on the vertical axis of Chart 2. The higher the State in the chart, the higher the luxury car concentration. Cars manufactured by Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Honda, Hyundai, and Toyota were considered non-luxury. For instance, in Maharashtra, for every 1 lakh non-luxury cars registered, there are 1,200 luxury cars. Notably, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, and Goa had a similar concentration of luxury cars. In the Union Territories of Chandigarh and Puducherry, the concentration was much higher. This was due to lower road tax and other fees, which significantly reduced the prices of such cars.

Table 3 | The table shows the same information as in Table 1 for States with a high number of luxury cars. Luxury brand-wise number of cars registered in India till date (A), the number of cars registered between 2020 and 2024 (B), and the share (B as a % of A).

Of the 154 Maseratis registered in India, 78 are in Tamil Nadu. Of the 723 Aston Martins registered in the country, 618 are in Karnataka. Maharashtra leads in registrations of Rolls Royce cars and Delhi leads in registrations of Alfa Romeo and Acura Legend.
