New Delhi:

An IndiGo flight from Rajasthan’s Jodhpur was ready to leave for Bengaluru this morning. All passengers boarded the aircraft and the cabin crew began the flight safety demonstration, and the take-off was scheduled at 10:10 am. But, suddenly, a passenger pulled the flag and opened the emergency exit door.

The incident led to a stir onboard the flight and the pilots, and cabin crew initiated the standard operating protocols. The passenger has been arrested and handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Siraj Kidwai, who works for Axis Bank, claims he accidentally opened the flap. After the emergency exit was opened, a direct message was sent to the pilot, and security officials later removed the passenger from the plane.

IndiGo said, “Today, during the safety briefing before the departure of flight 6E 6033 from Jodhpur to Bengaluru, a passenger opened the emergency exit flap. The crew immediately followed standard operating procedures. The passenger was later disembarked and handed over to law enforcement officials for investigation.”

“We regret the inconvenience caused to other passengers on the flight and reaffirm our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and security in all our operations,” they added.

The passenger is being questioned by CISF personnel at the airport police station in Jodhpur. The incident caused a 20-minute delay in take-off, reportedly leading to a stir onboard the aircraft.

Anita Chaudhary’s body was located Wednesday, two days after she went missing.

Jodhpur:

The body of a 50-year-old woman, chopped into several pieces, was found in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur on Wednesday, two days after she was reported missing.

According to the police, Anita Chaudhary was killed by an old family friend.

On October 27, Ms Chaudhary, who used to run a beauty parlour in Jodhpur, closed the salon in the afternoon around 2:30 pm. However, she did not return home that night. A day later, her husband, Manmohan Chaudhary (56), filed a missing complaint with the police.

The victim’s mobile location and call records directed the police to the house of a man, Gul Mohammad, in the vicinity.

Mohammad was a friend of the victim. She considered him a brother, the police said. The police interrogated Mohammad’s wife, who allegedly revealed that Ms Chaudhary’s body was buried behind her house.

The police found her body in six pieces. The body parts were sent to the AIIMS hospital for a post-mortem.

Mohammad is currently missing and the police are looking for him, officials said. His wife has been taken into custody.

A 33-year-old Rajasthan bureaucrat died last night due to negligence by doctors, her relatives have alleged. Priyanka Bishnoi, who was posted as sub-divisional magistrate in Jodhpur, died at a hospital in Ahmedabad two weeks after she underwent a surgery at a hospital in Jodhpur.

Her death has sparked anger among the Bishnoi community and her relatives have demanded a police case against the owner of the Jodhpur hospital and the doctors.

Jodhpur District Collector Gaurav Agrawal has ordered an inquiry by a five-member team.

The 2016-batch Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) officer underwent surgery earlier this month at the Vasundhara Hospital in Jodhpur. Her condition worsened after the surgery, alleged her relatives and shifted her to Ahmedabad. She allegedly went into coma after she was given excess dosage of anaesthesia during her surgery, according to them.

Bishnoi community leader Devendra Budia has alleged a conspiracy behind the bureaucrat’s death and demanded a CBI probe.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma condoled Bishnoi’s death as “extremely sad”. “I pray to Lord Shri Ram to give a place to the departed soul in his feet and give strength to the family members to bear this grief,” he said in an online post.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot too condoled the promising officer’s death.

Priyanka Bishnoi was known to be a promising bureaucrat. Once speaking at an event, she had shared that she decided become an administrative officer after she a sub-divisional officer visited her school when she in Class 8. “That day, after seeing the blue beacon on the subdivisional officer’s car, I felt that I will become an officer,” she had said.

Jodhpur:

“This is like real Ram Rajya for us,” said a Hindu migrant from Pakistan living in Jodhpur as celebrations broke out after the Centre implemented the Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA, four years after the contentious law was passed by Parliament.

In the settlements of Hindu migrants from Pakistan, the residents lit lamps and burst firecrackers on Monday night soon after the rules to fast-track citizenship for undocumented non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who came to India before December 31, 2014, were unveiled.

“We had been waiting for this for long. With this (CAA) becoming a reality, many those in line for citizenship can hope to become Indian nationals soon,” said Dinesh Bheel, a Hindu migrant from Pakistan.

Expressing delight over the development, another migrant Perumal said this would pave the way for citizenship and help the distraught migrants in leading a better life. “We can get citizenship after six years of residing in India. This will help lots of those who have been waiting for citizenship”, he said.

With the unveiling of the CAA rules that came days ahead of the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections, the Modi government will now start granting Indian nationality to persecuted non-Muslim migrants – Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis and Christians – from the three countries. The rules come into force with immediate effect, according to a gazette notification.

According to Seemant Lok Sangathan, which advocates for Pakistan migrants in India, around 35,000 migrants in Jodhpur have been waiting for citizenship. The influx of these Hindu migrants from Pakistan has increased in the past 10 years, it claimed.

Welcoming the implementation of CAA and the reduction in residency period from 10-12 years to 6 years, the president of the Seemant Lok Sangthan Hindu Singh Sodha said, “But the CAA talks about only those migrants who arrived in India before December 31, 2014, and those who came afterwards, will be eligible for citizenship as per the old law”.

“This condition is injustice for about 20,000 people who came to India after this date in the past 10 years,” he said.

A large number of Hindu migrants from Pakistan reside in Rajasthan’s western districts such as Barmer, Bikaner and Jodhpur.
