Indore:

A 42-year-old man’s condition deteriorated so much that he had to be hospitalised for a week after unknowingly consuming fish gall bladder in Indore, a doctor said on Wednesday.

Dr Jai Singh Arora, a nephrologist at a private hospital here, told PTI that the man started throwing up and suffered from diarrhoea after he ate fish gall bladder without realising that he had ingested the organ that stores bile produced by the liver.

His family thought it was a case of food poisoning until investigations pointed to something serious. Along with his serum creatinine, an indicator of kidney functions, the levels of two liver enzymes – SGOT and SGPT – had shot up dangerously, the doctor said.

“The patient came to us in a critical condition. He was admitted to the hospital for a week. Even after this, his treatment continued. At present, he is healthy,” Arora said.

The fish gall bladder contains a poisonous chemical called sodium cyprinol sulfate, which can rapidly damage the liver and kidneys if ingested by humans, he added.

The parents contended that they were merely exercising normal parental discipline. (Representational)

Bhopal:

A couple in Indore were in for a surprise when they found out their two children had filed a police case against them. Their daughter, 21, and son, 8, had taken them to the cops over being scolded for excessive usage of mobile phones and watching TV.

This unusual event unfolded on October 25, 2021, when the siblings reached the Chandan Nagar police station, alleging that their parents even thrashed them for their screen habits.

The police not only filed a case but also invoked stringent charges that could lead to imprisonment for up to seven years.

The case was registered under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 342 (wrongful confinement), 294 (uttering obscenities), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention), as well as sections 75 (cruelty to child) and 82 (corporal punishment) of the Juvenile Justice Act.

Advocate Dharmendra Chaudhary, representing the parents, stated that the High Court has issued an interim stay on the trial.

The parents contended that they were merely exercising normal parental discipline, a common practice in many households facing similar issues with children’s screen time. They explained that the children had been repeatedly counseled before they were scolded and their actions were within the bounds of normal parenting.

The parents claimed that the police acted unilaterally without considering their side of the story. “Every house is troubled by the children’s addiction to mobile and TV,” the parents argued in court. “Scolding children is a normal thing. This happens in every house.”

Since they dragged their parents to the cops, the children had been living with their paternal aunt. This has aggravated the situation as their father has an ongoing dispute with his sister.

Police said CCTV footage shows at least two people probably covered the robber (Representational)

Indore:

A masked robber took away a bag containing around Rs 6.5 lakh cash from a nationalised bank after firing a round in the air in Indore city on Tuesday, police said.

The man wearing a raincoat entered the bank, located in Vijay Nagar area, in the afternoon and threatened staff by firing in the air, said Additional Commissioner of Police Amit Singh.

The investigation is on to understand the exact sequence of events and whether the bag was snatched by the robber.

Mr Singh said the CCTV footage shows at least two persons probably covered the robber.

“Our team has identified them. We will soon disclose more information,” the police officer said, adding that no security guard was present in the bank according to their policy.

Prima facie, the crime was committed by a security guard, probably an ex-serviceman, as he picked up empty cartridges from the spot, he said.

At least two persons who prima facie covered the robber were identified and will be arrested soon, he added.

Indore:

A city-based web developer has been arrested here for allegedly duping an Australian national of Rs one crore after undertaking to develop a video conference platform that can run on Apple devices, police said on Thursday.

Mayank Saluja (42), a freelance developer, allegedly did not deliver the product after taking the money.

Complainant Paul Shepherd, an Australia-based chartered accountant, had asked Saluja to create a video conference platform, said Jitendra Singh, superintendent, cyber police.

Mayank Saluja allegedly told him that he had contacts inside Apple, and could develop a platform that would run smoothly on the iPhone, iPad and MacBook.

But they would need to form a non-government organisation (NGO) for inking an agreement with Apple, he told the Australian.

Mr Shepherd paid him around 1.77 lakh Australian dollars, equivalent to about Rs one crore, but Saluja never delivered the product, the complaint said.

The cyber police has acquired the rights to use the video conference platform being developed by Saluja with the permission of a local court so that the accused cannot destroy the evidence, the SP said, adding that probe was on.
