Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has reiterated that the people centric government of the Congress has resolved to ensure houses to all the poor as also giving clear titles on land to rightful owners.

The government has initiated several moves in this direction to secure future of the poor and marginal classes by providing them houses — considered as a symbol of self respect by such families. The Indiramma Indlu, weaker section housing programme, envisaging financial assistance of ₹5 lakh each to poor owning land for construction of their own houses was launched — in March , 2024 — keeping this in view.

The Minister was speaking at a meeting to review the status of housing and revenue issues pertaining to the erstwhile Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar districts with senior officials, in-charge Ministers, MPs, MLAs and others, in Hyderabad on Thursday (May 7, 2026). He advised the officials to work in close coordination with the local elected representatives regarding the implementation of the welfare schemes at the grass root level. Collective effort of the administration and elected representatives would ensure resolution of the problems on the spot and the fruits of the schemes reach eligible beneficiaries.

Exhorting collectors to effectively discharge their duties, Mr. Srinivas Reddy said the government had adequately given powers to the Collectors in the Indiramma Indlu scheme. They should ensure that the bills pertaining to different stages of house construction were released on time to the selected beneficiaries. The scheme should be implemented in a transparent manner without giving scope for irregularities at any stage as the Government was not prepared to tolerate any complaints pertaining to the scheme.

Simultaneously steps should be taken to provide pattas to eligible beneficiaries over lands that were acquired for housing schemes in the past but remained unutilised. The government was actively considering assistance to those who were given Indiramma Indlu in the past but could not complete them owing to various reasons. Officials should take steps to complete selection of beneficiaries under two bedroom housing scheme before May 20 and elected representatives should extend their help in this direction.

On the administration side, the Minister said the Government had initiated the process for construction of new office buildings for revenue and registration offices in different districts. Steps were launched for recruitment of additional tahsildars in mandals with population of more than one lakh. The Collectors should accordingly prepare proposals and submit them to the government at the earliest.
