U.S. President Donald Trump repeated twice in a single day the claim that he stopped the war between India and Pakistan last year.

“In one year, I’ve ended eight raging wars, such as (the war between) Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Mr. Trump said at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday (February 5, 2026).

Later, in a post on Truth Social, Mr. Trump reiterated the claim that he stopped a nuclear war from breaking out between India and Pakistan.

“The United States is the most powerful Country in the World. I completely rebuilt its Military in my First Term, including new and many refurbished nuclear weapons. I also added Space Force and now, continue to rebuild our Military at levels never seen before. We are even adding Battleships, which are 100 times more powerful than the ones that roamed the Seas during World War II — The Iowa, Missouri, Alabama, and others. I have stopped Nuclear Wars from breaking out across the World between Pakistan and India, Iran and Israel, and Russia and Ukraine,” Mr. Trump posted.

The U.S. President has claimed over 90 times that he stopped the conflict between India and Pakistan. He has been making the assertion repeatedly, on various platforms in the U.S. and around the world, since May 10 last year, when he announced on social media that India and Pakistan agreed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire after a “long night” of talks mediated by Washington.

India has consistently denied any third-party intervention.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday (January 21, 2026) repeated his claim that he stopped the war between India and Pakistan, as he did with so many other wars.

In a special address in Davos, Switzerland, at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, Mr. Trump also said the U.S. needs Greenland, which he said was not land but a massive piece of ice, for strategic reasons as it lies between the U.S., China and Russia, not for a massive amount of rare earth minerals buried under ice.

He began his speech by greeting “so many friends” present and “a few enemies”, and lashed out heavily at Europe, NATO, proponents of clean energy and past U.S. presidents, including “sleepy” Joe Biden.

Earlier, Mr. Trump has claimed credit for stopping the India-Pakistan conflict for more that 80 times since May 10 last year, when he announced on social media that the two neighbours had agreed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire after talks mediated by Washington.

India has consistently denied any third-party intervention.

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 last year, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.

India and Pakistan reached an understanding on May 10 to end the conflict after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes.

India has been consistently maintaining that the understanding on cessation of hostilities with Pakistan was reached following direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of the two sides.

U.S. President Donald Trump has again credited himself for ending the conflict between nuclear-armed neighbours India and Pakistan, as he asserted that Norway controls the Nobel Peace Prize, an honour he claims he deserves for ending eight wars and saving millions of lives.

He also said that while he may not care about the prize, he does care about saving lives.

“I don’t care about the Nobel Prize… A very fine woman felt that I deserved it and really wanted me to have the Nobel Prize. And I appreciate that. If anybody thinks that Norway doesn’t control the Nobel Prize, they’re just kidding. They have a board, but it’s controlled by Norway, and I don’t care what Norway says,” Mr. Trump told reporters after attending a college football championship game in Miami on Monday (January 19, 2026).

Last week, Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado presented her 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to Mr. Trump at the White House, which he described as a “wonderful gesture of mutual respect”.

The President also said that he has “saved tens of millions of lives”.

“If you look at India, Pakistan…two nuclear powers. You look at so many of the countries that were in a 30, in some cases a 35-year-war, I got it done. We stopped eight wars, and maybe we’ll be stopping the ninth very soon,” he said.

Mr. Trump has repeatedly claimed credit for stopping the India-Pakistan conflict, a claim he has now made about 80 times since May 10 last year, when he announced on social media that the two nations had agreed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire after talks mediated by Washington.

India has consistently denied any third-party intervention.

Mr. Trump has also said that no one in history is more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize than him, and has criticised former U.S. President Barack Obama for receiving the award in 2009 shortly after assuming office, even though he “didn’t do anything”.

The President is scheduled to deliver a special address at the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos on Wednesday (January 21), where he will also meet foreign leaders and business executives.

On Thursday (January 22), on the margins of the World Economic Forum, Mr. Trump will participate in the “Board of Peace Charter announcement”, where nations would be invited to sign the charter, joining the body aimed at Gaza’s redevelopment under his comprehensive plan to end the conflict.

Mr. Trump has invited several global leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to join the Board of Peace, seen as a rival to the United Nations, that will work towards bringing lasting peace to Gaza and embark on a “bold new approach” to resolve “global conflict”.

Responding to a question that French President Emmanuel Macron has declined to join his Board of Peace, Mr. Trump said, “Well, nobody wants him because he’s going to be out of office very soon. So you know, that’s all right… I’ll put a 200% tariff on his wines and champagnes, and he’ll join. But he doesn’t have to join if he said that. You’re probably giving it to me a little bit differently, but if he actually did say that… he’s going to be out of the office in a few months.”

Mr. Trump said he has also invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to join the Board.

U.S. President Donald Trump has again claimed that he stopped the fighting between India and Pakistan and saved millions of lives, describing it as an “honour”.

Addressing an event in Florida on Friday (January 16, 2026), Mr. Trump claimed the U.S. had brokered multiple peace deals in less than a year and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has credited him with saving at least 10 million lives by stopping the Indo-Pak conflict.

“In less than a year, we made eight peace deals and ended the war in Gaza. We have peace in the Middle East. Nobody thought that was going to be possible,” he said.

Mr. Trump also asserted that Washington helped defuse tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, India and Pakistan.

“We stopped India and Pakistan from fighting, two nuclear nations… The Pakistani Prime Minister said ‘Donald Trump saved at least 10 million people’. And it was amazing, and it’s an honour,” he said.

Mr. Trump has repeatedly asserted that he played a role in halting tensions between India and Pakistan last year.

He has made the claim around 80 times since May 10 last year, when he announced on social media that the two countries had agreed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire after a “long night” of talks allegedly mediated by Washington.

India has consistently rejected any third-party intervention in its dealings with Pakistan.

Mr\. Trump has also said on several occasions that Sharif, who visited the White House last year, credited him with saving millions of lives by stopping the conflict between India and Pakistan.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has once again thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for resolving the India-Pakistan conflict in May.

New Delhi has been consistently maintaining that India and Pakistan reached an understanding on May 10 to end the conflict after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes, and no third party was involved in the process.

“It was President Trump’s bold and decisive leadership that brought about the ceasefire between Pakistan and India, restoring peace in South Asia, averting a major war, and saving millions of people,” Mr. Sharif said while addressing Azerbaijan’s Victory Day parade in Baku on Saturday (November 8, 2025).

Since May 10, when Mr. Trump announced on social media that India and Pakistan had agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire” after a “long night” of talks mediated by Washington, he has repeated his claim several times that he “helped settle” the tensions between the two countries.

India has consistently denied any third-party intervention.

Pakistan has praised Mr. Trump on multiple occasions, claiming that he brokered a ceasefire during the May conflict.

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.

In his address, Mr. Sharif also mentioned Kashmir, saying that Azerbaijan’s victory in Karabakh is a beacon of hope for all nations fighting against oppression.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan seeks peace, but it will not allow anyone to challenge its sovereignty or undermine territorial integrity.

The parade also included contingents of the armed forces from Pakistan and Turkiye who marched alongside Azerbaijani forces. The ceremony also included a splendid flypast of JF-17 Thunder jets.

In a sharp escalation of rhetoric, Pakistan Army chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Saturday (October 18, 2025) warned India of a “decisive response” to even a minor provocation, saying there is no space for war in a “nuclearised environment”.

Army Chief Asim Munir was addressing a graduation ceremony of passing out army cadets at the premier Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul at Abbottabad in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“I advise and firmly caution India’s military leadership that there is no space for war in a nuclearised environment,” he said.

“We will never be intimidated, not coerced by rhetoric and will respond decisively to even a minor provocation without any qualms,” the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) said.

Referring to the recent military conflict between India and Pakistan, Field Marshal Munir claimed that his country’s armed forces had demonstrated “remarkable professionalism” and “far-reaching capabilities” by “neutralising” all threats and emerged “victorious” against a “numerically superior adversary”.

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.

India and Pakistan reached an understanding on May 10 to end the conflict after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes, following direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of the two militaries.

Field Marshal Munir also alleged India of using terrorism as a weapon to destabilise Pakistan, saying a handful of terrorists cannot harm Pakistan and warned that all “proxies” using Afghan soil would be “raised to dust”, in an apparent reference to Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The Army chief also urged India to settle “core issues” as per international norms, an apparent reference to the Kashmir dispute, while reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to provide “moral and diplomatic support” to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Describing Pakistan as a peace-loving country, Munir said it enjoyed strong relations with major powers, including the US and China.

At the ceremony, cadets from several friendly countries, including Malaysia, Nepal, Palestine, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Yemen, Mali, Maldives and Nigeria, also graduated.

Field Marshal Munir congratulated them and lauded the PMA’s role as a “cornerstone of military excellence and international camaraderie”.

New Delhi:

An Indian fisherman, who was languishing in the Karachi jail even after completion of his sentence, has died, official sources said on Friday.

The fisherman identified as Babu died Thursday, they said.

He is the eighth Indian fisherman who died in Pakistan in last two years, the sources said.

“Babu was arrested by Pakistani authorities in 2022. Despite completion of his sentence and confirmation of his Indian nationality, he was not released by Pakistan authorities,” said a source.

One-hundred-eighty Indian fishermen who have completed their sentences await release from Pakistani jail, the sources said.
