Badshah’s team called the allegations “defamatory”,

New Delhi:

Rapper Badshah on Wednesday clarified that he was neither driving nor was he in a Thar vehicle, on the day he was fined Rs 15,000 for allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road, playing loud music and rash driving.

“Neither do I have a Thar, nor was I driving that day. I was being driven in a white Vellfire and we always drive responsibly,” he said in a story on Instagram.

Badshah gave a surprise performance at singer-songwriter Karan Kaujla’s concert in Gurugram on December 15.

Videos that went viral showed a Mahindra Thar, allegedly part of Badshah’s convoy, speeding on the wrong side of the road amid heavy traffic. Later, news agency PTI reported that the Thar was registered in the name of Deepender Malik, a resident of Panipat.

Soon after the incident, Badshah’s team called the allegations “defamatory”. “We are issuing this statement to address recent defamatory reports and false accusations regarding a traffic incident involving Badshah following the Karan Aujla concert on December 15th, 2024, in the Delhi NCR region. These reports allege that Badshah was involved in a traffic violation, specifically driving on the wrong side of the road. We want to unequivocally state that this allegation is completely false,” the statement read.

The team further stated that “no fine was levied” on any vehicle associated with the rapper and his team, according to ANI. “We have complete confidence in our transportation provider and their professionally licensed drivers,” the statement added.

Gurugram:

Police have arrested three men for allegedly strangling their flatmate to death with an electric wire following an argument here, officials said on Thursday.

The victim was identified as Pushpendra Singh, a native of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, police said. Singh and the three accused were working in the same company and lived together in a rented accommodation in IMT Manesar.

Singh’s sister told the police that her younger brother, who lives nearby, had told her on Tuesday morning that her elder brother was lying unconscious on the floor of his room. When she reached his room, she found him dead with injuries on his head and neck.

In her complaint, she accused his flatmates — Srajan, Ramanand and Ajeet — of killing her brother. She told the police that Singh had often complained to her that his flatmates would quarrel with him over minor issues and threatened to kill him.

Based on her complaint, the police registered a case and arrested the three accused. During the interrogation, they revealed that the incident occurred on Monday midnight when all four of them were drinking together, police said.

“An argument broke out, during which Singh hurled abuses at them. Following this, Ramanand and Ajeet pinned Singh down and Srajan strangled him to death with an electric wire,” Gurugram police spokesperson said.

Further investigation into the matter is underway, he said.

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority said they have installed a cautionary signboard

Gurugram:

Days after a video showed cars “flying” due to a speed breaker on Gurugram’s Golf Course road, authorities swung into action and installed a cautionary signboard.

A video went viral on X showing a speeding BMW hitting the newly laid speed breaker, being in the air for over a second and at least three feet above the ground before landing about 15 feet away from the breaker.

The video also showed two trucks approaching the point, unaware of the unmarked breaker, flying after hitting it.

A clip also showed several people gathering at the spot to record videos of the speed breaker.

Facing backlash, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) late Tuesday said they have now installed a cautionary signboard “Speed Breaker Ahead”

They also said they have marked the speed breaker with thermoplastic white paint to enhance night-time visibility and help motorists navigate the stretch “safely”.

Golf Course Road is home to several luxurious residential projects such as DLF Camellias, Tulip Monsella, Golf Estate at M3M, and DLF Magnolias.

Sunil, a native of Ganj in Uttar Pradesh, was originally arrested in November 2018 (Representational)

Gurugram:

A local court on Friday sentenced a suspected serial predator to life imprisonment for the rape and murder of a 6-year-old girl after kidnapping her from the Civil Lines area here in 2017, police said.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Ashwini Kumar also fined 26-year-old Sunil Rs 2.5 lakh.

Sunil, a native of Ganj in Uttar Pradesh, was originally arrested in November 2018 during a probe into another case of rape and murder of a three-year-old girl in Gurugram.

During interrogation, he revealed that in the previous seven years he had killed at least 15 girls in Gurugram, Delhi, Gwalior, and Jhansi.

He claimed that he used to mostly target girls going to the ‘bhandaras’ (public feast). He would kidnap them, and then rape and kill them, said police.

The victim’s case was represented pro bono by advocates Dr Anju Rawat Negi and Kulbhushan Bhardwaj of NGO Farishte Group.

Negi said that on January 6, 2017, a Madhya Pradesh-native had approached Civil Lines Police Station and filed a complaint alleging his six years old daughter had gone missing when she was out to collect ‘prasad’ from a Peer Baba bhandara.

On January 25, 2017, the girl’s body was found in a water tank in Drona Park at Rajiv Chowk. Postmortem revealed she was raped and strangled.

Consequent to the finding, police constituted a Special Investigation Team.

Negi said Sunil was served a death sentence in another case, and some cases were still pending.

The Legal Services Authority was asked to give a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the victim’s family.
