Gurugram:

Two sisters in their early 20s died after falling from the fourth floor of a local businessman’s house at Sector 40 in Gurugram, police said on Sunday.

While the house owner’s family claimed they fell from the balcony on Friday in a desperate bid to escape after a “theft attempt”, the deceased family has alleged foul play behind the deaths though no formal complaint of murder has been lodged yet, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Chandni (23) and Rashmi (21), who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, they said.

Chandni, who used to work at the businessman’s residence as a domestic help, left the job around a month back, police said.

The deceased lived in the servant’s quarter of the building.

The house owner told police that he and his family members were going to the Khatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan’s Sikar district on Friday. However, they returned home after travelling some distance as he had forgotten to take his medicines, police said.

On reaching home, they found the main door open before hearing a loud thud. As they rushed to the balcony and looked down, they saw the two sisters lying in a pool of blood below. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were declared brought dead, police said.

The house owner’s family suspects that the two women broke into the house, as Chandni knew the access code of the electronic lock.

Sector 40 police station SHO Lalit Kumar said the bodies have been handed over to the family after autopsy, adding that police are examining CCTV footage from the house.

New Delhi:

The body of a missing 22-year-old woman was found in a hotel in Delhi she had visited with a friend, who was also found dead on a railway track, earlier this week, police said on Sunday.

The cause of the woman’s death could not be immediately ascertained but the man (23) is suspected to have died by suicide, the police said, adding that a detailed probe is underway.

“Her body was found in a hotel on December 17. Following the recovery of her body, authorities conducted a postmortem examination,” a senior police officer from the outer district of Delhi was quoted as saying by PTI.

According to Outer Delhi Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Amit Verma, the woman’s family alleged that she left her residence in Raj Park in Mangolpuri on December 14 but did not return.

The family claimed a person, who they could not identify, called the woman and she went along with him. After she did not return home, the family registered a missing person’s complaint at Raj Park police station on December 16, police added.

A day later, the woman’s body was found in a hotel in Paschim Vihar West. A preliminary probe suggested that she had visited the premises with her friend, the ADCP said.

As the police began a search for the man, they found his body on a railway track in Gurugram on December 18.

It is suspected that the man died by suicide after the woman’s death, police said.

Mr Verma said an autopsy of the woman’s body failed to identify the cause of the death. The viscera samples have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for detailed analysis and a report is awaited.

The police are investigating the case from all angles, he added.

Gurugram:

The charred body of a 35-year-old man was recovered in Gurugram’s Sector-15 area in the early hours of Friday, the police said.

The victim was identified as Gorelal alias Halle, a native of Madhya Pradesh.

According to the police, the victim along with his friends had visited an under-construction house located in the Sector-15 area of the district in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

The victim met his brother-in-law Rajesh, who was the security guard of the under-construction building.

During Thursday night the victim along with his friends had consumed liquor but on Friday morning, Rajesh was not present at the spot.

Rajesh then informed one of the victim’s friends over the phone and just went to the gallery of the house and there the victim’s friends found Gorelal’s charred body who later informed the police.

Initial police investigation suggests that the accused and the victim had an argument over some issue which led to a fight.

The accused allegedly shot the victim and set him ablaze before fleeing the spot.

Police have launched a search to catch the accused.

The body has been kept in the mortuary for medical examination.

“The reason behind the incident is yet to be known. Prima facie it appeared that some dispute between the two led to the incident. We have identified the accused, he will be caught soon,” said Sandeep Singh, a Gurugram police spokesperson.

The incident took place at Vipul Greens apartment complex in Gurugram

Gurugram:

A 59-year-old woman has died after her mentally-ill son stabbed her and then set their Gurugram flat on fire, police have said. The 27-year-old man, it is learnt, attacked his mother because she called him “mad”. He has been taken into custody.

Ranu Shah lived with her husband and son at Vipul Greens, a posh apartment complex in Sector 48 of Gurugram. Her son, Atrish, had been undergoing treatment for mental illness for a long time, and neighbours said he had frequent altercations with his parents.

Late last night, neighbours saw that their flat was on fire. Firefighters and the police were called in. They broke open the door and rescued Ms Shah with severe burn injuries. She was rushed to a private hospital nearby, where she succumbed to her injuries.

According to police, a preliminary probe has found that Atrish would often get agitated and attack his mother. During an altercation yesterday, Ms Shah reportedly called him “mad”. This triggered the 27-year-old and he repeatedly stabbed his mother. He then set their home on fire. Ms Shah’s husband was away when the incident took place.

Senior police officer Mayank Gupta has said the man’s mental health will be evaluated before police takes a decision on how to proceed with the investigation, according to a Times of India report.
