A police complaint has been registered and probe is on

A quarrel between two children at a residential complex in Greater Noida snowballed into a major altercation between their mothers after one of the women slapped the other’s six-year-old child. The woman slapped the child so hard that he got a bruise on his cheek.

According to reports, the two children fought and one called his mother. The woman lost her temper and slapped the child across his face. When the child’s mother and other women in the locality confronted the woman, she threatened to thrash the child again.

In one of the videos that have now circulated on social media, the woman is heard saying, “Wherever I find him alone, I will slap him.” A woman recording the events on her phone asks the woman, “You tell us, why did you hit the child?” The woman then charges at the woman recording her and slaps her too, causing her phone to fall.

Another video shows the woman verbally abusing the person recording her as other residents try to intervene and defuse the matter.

The father of the child, who was slapped, has now registered a police complaint against the woman.

Responding to a social media post on the incident, police have said the incident took place in Gaur City 2. “There was a dispute between two children, which led to a dispute between their mothers. A complaint has been registered, we are questioning the accused. Action will be taken.”

New Delhi:

Considering the plight of the hassled homebuyers, the Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) to submit a proposal for grievance redressal and imposed Rs 5 lakh cost on it for failing to file a timely response.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar expressed dissatisfaction over the approach of GNIDA and said, “You are responsible for the mess. Of course, developers made money from the homebuyers. But that does not condone your acts.”

The bench said it may order a CBI probe into the whole “mess” if the GNIDA did not come up with a plan to redress the grievances of the homebuyers.

“You come up with a plan in 10 days… otherwise we will order a CBI investigation…You will have to ensure that interests of homebuyers are safeguarded. You are also part of the problem. You allowed this mess to be created,” the CJI said.

The bench suggested the GNIDA to take over the entire land, develop the projects and give the flats to the homebuyers.

Seeking a detailed affidavit from GNIDA, the bench asked it to provide information including the date of allotment of the land and the date of execution of the lease deeds in favour of the private company.

Besides seeking a comprehensive proposal for the homebuyers, the bench asked the GNIDA to give information on why the allotment of land was not cancelled when the developers violated the terms of the projects.

Senior advocate Shoeb Alam, appearing for over 800 homebuyers, said a PSU was willing to develop the stalled projects and pay up the dues to GNIDA and others, and moreover, no creditors or investors would have to suffer haircuts.

The top court was hearing about 12 appeals arising out of a National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) judgment in relation to the insolvency proceedings of debt-ridden realty firm Earth Infrastructure.

The NCLAT had declined a plea of a batch of homebuyers who challenged the NCLT’s approval of Alpha Corp Development’s bid to acquire Earth Infrastructure.

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) had on June 8, 2021, approved the resolution plan from Alpha Corp Development. The committee of creditor of the Earth Infrastructure had voted in favour of Alpha Corp with a majority of 99 per cent.

Due to the protracted legal battle, five housing projects, three in Greater Noida and two in Gurugram, of the realty firm are stalled leaving hundreds of homebuyers in the lurch.

Earlier, Alpha Corp had said it would invest around Rs 900 crore to complete the three stalled projects of Earth Infrastructure that it acquired through the insolvency process at Greater Noida.

The housing projects were launched between 2010 and 2012, but were not completed in the stipulated time period.

Approximately 2,900 units were to be developed in these projects.

Ananta by Alpha Corp (erstwhile Earth Copia), Sector 112, Gurugram, is a housing project launched in February 2011; Earth Sapphire Court, Greater Noida, is a commercial project launched in July 2010 and Earth Techone, located on Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, is a mixed project launched in June 2012.

Cops are awaiting a complaint from her family to lodge an FIR in the case. (Representational)

Noida:

A 17-year-old girl, working as a domestic help, died allegedly after falling from the 19th floor of a group housing society in Greater Noida West on Tuesday morning, police said.

The incident, which took place around 9 am at the VVIP Homes Society in Greater Noida West under the Bisrakh police station area, triggered a protest by several domestic workers.

The protesters blocked a road alleging the girl was molested and pushed by a resident from the eighth floor.

However, the police said they have analyzed the CCTV footage of the eighth floor of the society and it showed the domestic help was talking on her mobile phone when she took a lift to go to the 19th floor.

The 19th floor is not covered by CCTV cameras, so it could not be ascertained if she herself jumped from there, they said.

“Around 9 am, the local police station received information about a suicide by a girl in the VVIP Homes society. She worked as a domestic help. A police team reached the spot and the CCTV footage of the area was analyzed,” Additional DCP (Central Noida) Hirdesh Katheriya said.

“Primary investigations suggested that the girl had entered the society at 8.13 am along with her mother, who also works as a domestic help. Around 9 am, she was seen talking to someone on the phone. At 9.14 am, she took the lift and went to the 19th floor after which the incident took place,” Hirdesh Katheriya said.

The police are investigating the matter and enquiring the owners of the flats where she worked to find out how she fell off the building, the officer said.

He said the police are awaiting a complaint from her family to lodge an FIR in the case.

Meanwhile, the girl’s mother and other domestic help gathered outside the group housing complex and blocked the road in protest, demanding that the resident of the flat where she last worked be arrested.

“The girl’s clothes appeared torn when her body was found on the ground,” a protester told reporters, alleging she was molested and thrown from the high-rise tower.

The protest prompted heavy security deployment at the society and the road was later opened for traffic, the officials said.

Karishma married Vikas in December 2022 and the couple lived with Vikas’s family.

A woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband and his family in Greater Noida for being unable to meet their dowry demands that included a Toyota Fortuner and Rs 21 lakh cash, police said.

In his complaint to the police, Deepak, the brother of Karishma, alleged that she called her family on Friday and informed them that her husband Vikas along with his parents and siblings had beaten her. When they reached the house to check on her, they found her dead.

Karishma married Vikas in December 2022 and the couple lived with Vikas’s family in Kheda Chauganpur village of Greater Noida’s Ecotech-3. According to Deepak, her family gave gold worth Rs 11 lakh as well as an SUV to the groom’s family at the time of the wedding. However, Vikas’ family kept demanding more dowry over the years and physically and mentally abused her, he alleged.

The abuse got worse after she gave birth to a girl and the two families tried to sort their differences through several panchayat meetings at Vikas’ village, he said. Karishma’s family then paid another Rs 10 lakh to his family but the abuse didn’t stop, Deepak alleged.

Vikas’ family recently made a new demand for a Fortuner car and another Rs 21 lakh from Karishma.

A case of murder for dowry has been registered against Vikas, his father Sompal Bhati, his mother Rakesh, sister Rinki and brothers Sunil and Anil.

Vikas and his father have been arrested while the police are looking for other accused in the case.
