Pan:

Three women were booked by the Goa Police on Monday for allegedly offering massage services at Candolim Beach, without obtaining permission from the competent authority, an official said.

Police said that as per the formalities all three accused persons were produced before the Deputy Director of Tourism at Panaji, Goa, along with the report for committing offence under Section 3 of the Goa Tourist Places Protection and Maintenance Act 2001, who failed to pay the penalty of Rs 25,000 (to be paid by each accused persons) and hence the offence was registered against them.

“The order was passed by the Deputy Director of Tourism imposing a penalty of Rs 25,000 to be paid by each accused person, but the same was not paid by them,” police added.

Later, Kuldeep Arolkar, Deputy Director of Tourism, complained about the incident and the action was taken by Calangute police.

“These accused persons were found moving at Candolim Beach and approaching tourists on the beach and offering massage services without any permission from the competent authority, thereby, contravening several sections,” police said.

Sources informed that a video of the massage taking place on the Candolim beach had gone viral, which forced police to take action.

After receiving complaints from locals, the Goa government had earlier warned touts and those involved in illegal massage activities on beaches.

Khan is an accused in a case registered at Mapusa in Goa.

Mumbai:

A 32-year-old man being taken to Goa after his arrest from Uttar Pradesh dashed out of Mumbai airport and fled despite a chase by a cop from the coastal state, police said on Thursday.

Imad Wasim Khan made the daring escape around 6 am on Wednesday after a Goa police team arrived with him at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, an official said.

Khan is an accused in a case registered at Mapusa in Goa for alleged wrongful confinement, voluntarily causing hurt, and personating a public servant, he said.

Based on inputs, Goa recently police visited Khan’s hometown in UP’s Saharanpur and took him into custody with the help of their local counterparts.

The two-member police team boarded a flight to Mumbai and arrived at T2 (terminal 2). As one of the cops was asking the airport staff about T1, from where they were to take a flight to Goa, Khan escaped from the clutches of the other.

The policeman gave chase, but Khan sprinted out of the airport and got into a car, according to the FIR registered at the Sahar police station here.

The cop even tried to pull Khan out but he managed to stay put inside despite a scuffle and escaped in the vehicle, the official said citing the FIR.

The two Goa policemen filed a complaint against Khan after they failed to trace him, the official said.

A case has been registered against Khan and efforts are on to track him down, the official added.

She left Goa on January 6 night after allegedly killing her child at an apartment in Candolim area.

Panaji:

The Goa Police have filed a chargesheet in a court here against Suchana Seth, the CEO of an AI start-up, accused of killing her four-year-old son at an apartment in the coastal state, a senior official said.

Seth (39) was arrested from Chitradurga in neighbouring Karnataka on January 7 while she was travelling in a taxi with her son’s body stuffed in a bag.

She left Goa on January 6 night after allegedly killing her child at an apartment in Candolim area of the state.

The Calangute police earlier this week filed a 642-page chargesheet against Seth in the Goa Children’s Court, the official said on Tuesday.

The chargesheet mentioned that the child died as a result of shock and respiratory asphyxia caused by strangulation. Seth has been booked under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of office) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act, according to the chargesheet.

The Goa Police have named 59 witnesses in the case and also recorded the statement of the accused’s husband, who has said that despite orders from a family court in Bengaluru, Seth did not allow him to meet their son.

The Goa Children’s Court will hear the case on June 14, 2024, when charges would be framed against the accused, who is currently in judicial custody in the coastal state.

The police have also attached with the chargesheet a scribbled note written on a tissue paper using an eyeliner by the accused.

They have also attached the confirmation from handwriting experts who identified it as Seth’s handwriting.

The racket was being operated between Kenya and India, the Goa police said. (Representational)

Panaji:

Two women from Israel and Kenya were arrested on Friday for alleged involvement in an international sex racket, a Goa police official said.

Maria Dorcas from Israel and Wilkista Achista from Kenya were held in an operation carried out by Anjuna police, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jivba Dalvi said.

“The racket was being operated between Kenya and India. Five women were recused in the police operation carried out with the help of NGO ARZ. Women from Kenya were promised jobs in the hospitality sector here by agents working on behalf of traffickers,” he said.

“After these women reached India, their passports, visas were taken away by the agents and they were pushed into prostitution under the threat of violence. The racket operated online by using escort service websites to solicit clients,” Mr Dalvi said.

The racket came to light after NGO ARZ found out about some victims who were taken to Bengaluru, he said, adding that Goa police promptly acted on the information and carried out a raid.

The rescued women have been lodged in a protective home at Merces, he added.
