There were 31 girls and 26 boys among the rescued from slaughterhouse.

Ghaziabad:

A total of 57 minors, including 31 girls and 26 boys, were rescued from a slaughterhouse in UP’s Ghaziabad following a joint operation by the police and the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), an official said on Wednesday.

“Today, in a joint raid conducted with @NCPCR_ ) on the instructions of @Uppolice at the International Agro Food slaughterhouse of Yasin Qureshi in the Mussoorie area of Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh, 57 minors (31 girls and 26 boys, including handicapped people) have been rescued; the operation is still on. All of them were being made to slaughter animals there,” NCPCR chief Priyank Kanoongo said in a post on X.

“The number may change once other processes, including age verification of the children, are completed. Action has been taken on the complaint of Mission Mukti,” he added.

A senior police officer said that due to the poor economic condition of their families, these children were brought from their respective states to Ghaziabad on the pretext of providing jobs.

“They (the minors) were then put to work at International Agro Foods without their prior knowledge of the nature of the work. The police are searching for the persons who brought these children from their states to initiate action against them,” the officer said.

According to the police, the NCPCR had received a complaint that approximately 40 children from Bihar and West Bengal were being forced to work in inhumane conditions at a slaughterhouse in Ghaziabad.

This complaint was lodged with the Ghaziabad Police Commissionerate.

“Based on the information provided by the officials of the NCPCR, the police assembled a team. On Wednesday, a joint operation was conducted at International Agro Foods in Dasna. During the operation, 57 minors were safely rescued from the slaughterhouse,” the officer said.

International Agro Foods is involved in meat processing, freezing, and exports. The company supplies a significant amount of its products overseas.

The deceased has been identified as Deen Mohammad (24), a resident of Meerut. (Representational)

Ghaziabad:

Police on Tuesday arrested two youths for killing a 24-year-old man and dumping his body in a drain in Tibrha village.

The deceased has been identified as Deen Mohammad (24), a resident of Meerut. An FIR was lodged by Mohammad’s father on May 16 at Modinagar police station after the body was found on May 15.

The victim’s two ‘friends’ – Taj Mohammad (20) and Puneet Gosain (20) – were arrested from near the drain in Tibrha, DCP Rural Vivek Chand Yadav said.

During interrogation, the accused told the police that they have two more friends — Nikit Gujjar (21) and Tushar (21).

A few days ago, Deen Mohammad and Nikit had a quarrel following which Mohammad, in a fit of anger, damaged Nikit’s car. To take revenge for the loss, the four planned “to teach him a lesson” and Mohammad was abducted in a car and beaten to death, the police alleged.

His body was dumped at the drain in Tibrha village.

Taj Mohammad and Puneet Gosain have been sent to jail, while their two accomplices Nikit Gujjar and Tushar are still absconding, the DCP said.

The roadshow started from the Maliwad Chowk and culminated at Chaudhary Mod

Ghaziabad:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held his first Lok Sabha election roadshow in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, canvassing support for the BJP’s Ghaziabad candidate Atul Garg, who has been fielded in place of two-time MP and Union minister V K Singh.

The prime minister was joined by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Mr Singh and Mr Garg in an open flower-bedecked vehicle as they acknowledged the enthusiastic supporters.

Holding the party symbol ‘lotus’, PM Modi waved at the cheering crowd who greeted the four leaders with the slogans of “Abki baar 400 paar’ (400-plus seats for NDA this time), ‘Har Har Modi’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’.

The roadshow started from the Maliwad Chowk and culminated at the Chaudhary Mod, covering a distance of about one-and-a-half km.

The prime minister said he was overwhelmed by the affection he received during the roadshow.

The district administration made elaborate arrangements for the event including the deployment of around 5,000 police personnel and enforcing traffic diversions. The local markets were closed during the roadshow.

The BJP supporters had been waiting on the road since the afternoon, braving the harsh sun as drums and bands tried to keep them engaged. Women dressed in colourful attire, some of them wearing yellow saris and saffron pagdis, were seen dancing vigorously as the roadshow moved forward.

“It was particularly gladdening to see Yuva Shakti and Nari Shakti take part in the roadshow in large numbers. This shows the unwavering faith people have in our governance track record,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

“In the coming years, we want to do even more for Ghaziabad. Our focus will be on how to further improve quality of life, enhance facilities for healthcare, education, transportation and more. We want youngsters from Ghaziabad to shine in diverse areas and enrich India’s growth trajectory,” he said.

Excited onlookers also watched from their rooftops and showered flowers on the leaders. Those who had lined up on both sides of the road along the route jostled with each other to get a better glimpse of the leaders, throwing flowers and raising slogans.

“Ghaziabad has always supported @BJP4India. Our Party has also always returned the affection with record development. Over the last ten years, development works, especially those relating to urban infrastructure, connectivity and housing have enhanced ‘Ease of Living’ here,” PM Modi said on X.

Voting will be held in the second phase in Ghaziabad on April 26.

The BJP has fielded former Uttar Pradesh minister Atul Garg as its candidate this time replacing Union minister General (retired) V K Singh, who won the elections in 2014 and 2019.

Among other programmes in the state, the PM addressed a rally in Saharanpur earlier in the day in support of BJP candidates.

Before the start of the roadshow in Ghaziabad, BJP workers were seen distributing sweets among people.

Police commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra had issued an advisory urging the masses not to bring certain things.

Two men standing nearby ran to help him after he collapsed.

A shocking video has emerged from Ghaziabad that shows a young man collapsing in a gym while running on a treadmill. The incident took place on Saturday in Saraswati Vihar. The victim, Siddharth Kumar Singh, experienced a sudden and fatal heart attack during his exercise routine. This is yet another case where a person has collapsed suddenly. A few months ago, one man died while waiting at the office of a property dealer, and another one collapsed during the dance at a wedding.

The moment in Ghaziabad has been captured on CCTV installed in the gym and shows Mr Singh stopping suddenly on the treadmill and slowly losing consciousness. Seconds later, he collapses on the machine.

Other concerned gym-goers rushed to help Mr Singh but couldn’t revive him.

The video also shows two men standing a few feet away from Mr Singh during the incident, and running quickly to pick him up after he fell on the treadmill.

Police have gathered forensic evidence and are securing CCTV camera footage.

New Delhi:

A lawyer was shot dead at his office in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad on Wednesday. The lawyer – Monu Chaudhary – was in his chambers, which is inside the district court complex, and eating when two men burst in and opened fire. Mr Chaudhary’s blood-covered body was found slumped in the chair.

A case was filed with the Sihani Gate Police Station and the investigation is ongoing, as part of which a forensic team gathered evidence and the body has been sent for post-mortem.

In addition, security footage from CCTV cameras installed across the court premises are being secured, Nipun Agarwal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (City), told NDTV.

Preliminary information indicates Mr Chaudhary was shot dead at 2 pm. The attackers reportedly arrived on foot and fled after committing the crime

The killing comes as legal practitioners across western UP went on a 24-hour strike today to protest the clash between lawyers and police in the state’s Hapur region. In anticipation of further clashes police had been deployed at all court and tehsil complexes in the state.

However, the fact that armed men broke through this security cordon, murdered Mr Chaudhary and then escaped has led to questions being asked of the police.

After news of the gruesome murder, scores of lawyers gathered around the crime scene and soon protests broke out as Mr Chaudhary’s colleagues demanded justice. At the time of the attack other lawyers were meeting to chalk out their strategy on the Hapur issue.

Hapur Lawyers Protest

On Tuesday the Hapur Bar Association staged a protest over an allegedly false case against a lawyer and her father. Tensions escalated as police resorted to lathi-charge against lawyers.

The Supreme Court Bar Association hit out at the police action and said advocates protesting peacefully against the alleged high-handedness of the police was a violation of their rights.
