Koot, a Coimbatore-based engineering solutions startup for pump and motor manufacturers, has plans to expand its global operations.

According to a press release, Koot, an industry-first platform in the pump and motor sector, spanning engineering design, research, development, and precision manufacturing services, has established technology and support centres in Germany, the U.S., and India, with its global manufacturing headquarters in India. It has more than 600 tier-two suppliers and is in discussion with global OEMs for strategic alliances.

Koot supplies pump and motor components such as impellers, casings, shafts, rotors, and sub-assemblies to companies such as HOMA of Germany, Pedrollo Group of Italy, and Hitachi of Japan. With focus on the US, European, and the Asian markets it plans to reach out to more customers in these geographies.

The company won the European PIA Supplier Award in 2025 and aims to become the preferred engineering and technology partner for more pump OEMs.

It currently employs about 30 people and will add 25 more in the engineering, research, and design services in the next 18 months.

Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd. (SWREL) which is into Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) said it has received Letter of Intent (LoI) for a new order worth ₹1,200 crore in Gujarat.

The company received the order for Design, Engineering, Procurement and Construction of Balance of System (BOS) for 500 MW (AC) Solar PV project on EPC basis.

In addition to EPC with single point responsibility, it will also include comprehensive Operation & Maintenance (O&M) for a period of three years.

Amit Jain, Global CEO, Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Group said, “India is one of the world’s largest energy markets and must therefore focus on sustainable options to mitigate climate challenges while strengthening energy security, job creation and economic growth.”

“We therefore remain confident about the future growth of India’s renewable energy sector and our increased role towards supporting it,” he added.

Creation of jobs is key for advancement of the country, said Kishore Jayaraman, president of Rolls-Royce, India and South Asia, in Coimbatore city on Friday.

Speaking at the Global Manufacturing Cluster Vision 2030 conference on Smart Manufacturing, organised by Texas Ventures and CODISSIA as a part of the Intec 2024 industrial fair, Mr. Jayaraman said India has the brainpower and skills. Jobs should be created for these skilled people. The Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs) need to scale up and generate jobs. Industries scaling up capacities is vital for India and job creation is key to advancement. The MSMEs are significant players to generate jobs.

Most of the western world wants to come to India to set up manufacturing capacities because of the skill capability available in the country. Significant number of jobs will be generated when a number of factories grow at the same time, he added.

Mr. Jayaraman pointed out that Coimbatore has some of the well-known large-scale companies that are present here for decades, over two lakh MSMEs, more than 75 engineering colleges, and ₹1.25 lakh crores worth manufacturing annually with ₹45,000 crores worth exports. It has engineering capability, skills, and the ability to scale up. But, it should also be able to talk loudly about its successes, he added.

K. Balasubramanian, chairman of Precision Group of Companies, spoke about the need for inventory management in companies. Sathiya Seelan, vice president – design styling of Ashok Leyland, highlighted the need for particularizing for a stable economy.

Subathra Mylsamy, partner of AK Mylsamy & Associates, and M. Thirumalai Kumar, head of Research Group, Autonomous Systems & Control – India, were the other speakers.
