New Delhi:

The BJP on Tuesday asked AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal to clarify if his party has any connection with those allegedly involved in sending bomb threats to more than 400 schools in Delhi recently.

This came after Delhi Police claimed that a Class-12 student had sent hoax bomb threats to more than 400 city schools and that his parents are linked to an NGO that supports a political party. The police, however, did not reveal the name of the political party.

A police officer also said that during the investigation, it was found that the NGO had voiced support for Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.

Hitting back, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused the BJP of “concocting stories” ahead of Assembly polls and asserted that “no evidence has so far come from the police”.

Terming the police findings as “very sensitive and serious”, BJP national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi claimed it has also been found during the probe that the student’s parents were associated with some NGOs that were involved in the past in such activities considered inimical to national security.

“This news raises strong suspicion because we all know that AAP has deep links to such unwanted NGOs and others involved in anti-national activities,” he told a press conference at the BJP headquarters here.

Stressing that it was not something pulled out of thin air, Mr Trivedi said, “Chief Minister Atishi Marlena’s parents had supported Afzal Guru’s clemency petition. AAP (government) kept the file of the case on the raising of ‘tukde-tukde’ slogan (in JNU campus) pending (for sanction of prosecution of the accused) for months,” he alleged.

The BJP leader claimed that there appeared to be a “direct link” between the NGOs and the AAP leadership in the case related to bomb threats sent to schools in Delhi.

“Kejriwal talks all nonsense and makes false statements. I want to ask clearly if AAP will clarify what its links are to the horrifying and dangerous facts coming out because a direct ideological similarity with you is visible with the mechanism coming to light in the case,” he said.

The BJP’s Delhi unit chief Virendra Sachdeva also targeted AAP on the issue and claimed that given the direction of the investigation in the case, the “links between the said NGO, AAP and its leaders will become visible somewhere or the other”.

“It’s not a coincidence…Those emails were sent to 400 schools under a well-thought-out conspiracy so that an atmosphere of fear is created in Delhi because they had to win the elections,” he charged.

“Arvind Kejriwal is not just an enemy of Delhi but of the country as well… May Delhi be free from this ‘aapda’ (disaster) because they (AAP) have destroyed Delhi,” he added.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh mocked Trivedi over his allegations, calling him the “newly appointed Delhi Police Commissioner”.

“He knows things that even the police is unaware of,” the AAP leader said at a press conference.

Mr Singh also asked why the BJP is raising the issue eight months after the first bomb threat was received by a school in the city in May last year.

“No evidence has so far come from the police, while the BJP for political gain has now raised the issue and Trivedi is concocting baseless stories when the Delhi Assembly elections are hardly 15 days away,” the AAP leader said.

The students were counselled and their parents were given a warning.

New Delhi:

At least three schools hit by bomb threat emails have turned out to be victims of their own students, the Delhi Police has discovered.

One of the several schools that received bomb threats was Venkateshwar Global School, which received a threatening email a day after a mysterious blast occurred at the Rohini Prashant Vihar PVR Multiplex on November 28.

A police officer said the email was sent by two siblings enrolled in the school because they wanted the exams to be postponed.

During counselling, both students revealed that they had got the idea from previous incidents of bomb threats being made to schools, the officer said.

They were allowed to go after their parents were given a warning.

After the email was reported, police conducted a thorough check of the school and declared the threat to be a hoax.

According to another police officer, two more schools located in Rohini and Paschim Vihar were sent threatening emails by their students.

The reason was the same – the students wanted schools to be shut.

In both matters, the students were allowed to go after they were counselled and their parents were warned.

Bomb threats have been sent to over 100 Delhi schools, sparking panic, over the past 11 days.

Police have found that the emails were sent through a VPN (Virtual Private Network), making it tough for them to locate the perpetrators.

Since May this year, more than 50 bomb threat emails have targeted not only schools but hospitals, airports and airline companies in Delhi.

Police are yet to make any breakthroughs in these cases.

According to the police a group mail was received by the schools at 6:12 am today. (Representational)

New Delhi:

A day after over 30 schools in the national capital received bomb threats, several schools in Delhi, received similar threat emails on Saturday, Delhi Police said.

“Today again Delhi Schools including DPS RK Puram, Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj received a bomb threat email,” Delhi Police said.

According to the police a group mail was received by the schools at 6:12 am today.

“A Group mail received by the school at 6:12 am today morning, by the name of Barry Allah, from childrenofallah@outlook.com,” police added.

After getting a bomb threat email schools informed the Delhi Police. After receiving information Delhi Police, bomb detection team and fire officials reached the spot but nothing suspicious was found yet, officials said.

The bomb threat email received by the schools said, “Allah sees your efforts to resist his punishment. But they are futile. For no mortal being can escape the judgement of Allah. The Prophet Mohammed declares all who go against Allah enemies to the world. We see your attempt to stop us. It will not work. The Prophet Mohammed has allowed the children to burn in the sacred flame of Allah.”

“On Saturday where students may not be there in your buildings, is when the buildings shall be brought down. Our bomb vests are blessed by the Prophet Muhammad. They shall not fail their goal. Our children are brave servants of Allah. They shall complete their task,” said the mail.

On Friday, South East Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ravi Kumar Singh said that as many as 30 schools across Delhi received hoax bomb threat emails.

The DCP said that the investigation into the fake threats revealed that the e-mails sent to the schools had been generated outside the country.

Upon receiving the information, schools were evacuated and the Bomb Disposal Squad carried out checks at the locations.

The threatening emails raised concerns among parents and staff, though the police assured that investigations are ongoing and safety remains their priority. No explosives or hazardous materials have been found in any of the schools so far.

This is not the first instance of such threats disrupting schools in the national capital, underlining the need for robust security protocols.

The schools that received the threats on Friday, included the Bhatnagar Public School in Paschim Vihar, Cambridge School in Srinivaspuri, Delhi Public School in East of Kailash, and Delhi Public School in Defence Colony. Earlier, over 40 schools in the national capital received bomb threats via e-mail demanding a ransom of USD 30,000. This email came on December 8 at around 11:38 pm.

Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Friday voiced serious concerns about recurring bomb threats targeting schools in the national capital. Kejriwal questioned the potential psychological and academic impact on children, saying such incidents could disrupt their studies and well-being if they continue unabated.

Earlier on November 19, the Delhi High Court instructed the Delhi Government and Delhi Police to develop a comprehensive action plan, including a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to address bomb threats and related emergencies. The court set a deadline of eight weeks for the completion of these directives.

New Delhi:

At least six schools in Delhi received a bomb threat on Friday via email, the second such incident this week. The police have not found anything suspicious yet, officials said.

Delhi Public School in East of Kailash, Salwan School, Modern School, and Cambridge School, were among some of the institutions that received the threat. This has prompted the authorities to send students back home. The schools have also sent messages to guardians asking them not to send their children to classes today.

A copy of the email accessed by NDTV shows that it says there are “several explosives in the schools’ premises”. According to the sender, there is a “secret dark web” group that is involved in the alleged bomb blasts.

“I am sure that you all do not check your students’ bags frequently when they enter the school premises. The bombs are powerful enough to destroy the buildings and harm people. December 13 and 14, both days can be the day your school will face a bomb blast. On December 14, there is a scheduled parent-teacher meeting in some of the schools mentioned. Indeed it is a good chance and an advantage for the bombs to detonate,” the email reads.

It also asked the authorities to reply to the email to know the sender’s “demands”.

The fire department, police, and bomb detection teams, along with dog squads, have reached the schools and are conducting checks, officials said. The Delhi Police is also investigating the IP address and looking for the sender of the email.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal reacted to the bomb threats, calling it “extremely serious and worrying”.

“This is the second time in this week that Delhi schools have received bomb threats, which is extremely serious and worrying. If this continues, how badly will it affect the children? What will happen to their studies?” he said.

On December 9, over 40 schools in the national capital received a similar bomb threat via email. The police later declared it as a bomb hoax.

The email, sent at 11:38 pm on a Sunday claimed that multiple “small” bombs had been planted inside the school buildings. The sender also demanded $30,000 to defuse bombs.

“It will not cause very much damage to the building, but many people will be injured when the bombs detonate. You all deserve to suffer and lose limbs,” the hoax email read.
