New Delhi:

A 38-year-old delivery Agent, was found dead with stab wounds in a park in north west Delhi on Sunday, police said.

A PCR call was received at 7.15 am regarding a man lying in Prashant Vihar area of Rohini, they said.

Upon reaching the spot, police took the man to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead, a police officer said.

The man’s belongings, including his mobile phone, wallet, and delivery bag, were found intact, he said.

Forensic and crime teams were called to the spot to check for evidence. CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify the accused, the officer said.

Following the preliminary investigation, the body was transported to Baba Saheb Ambedkar (BSA) Hospital for postmortem examination, the police said.

The man was a resident of Sant Kabir Nagar and is survived by his wife and two young children, they said.

New Delhi:

A 28-year-old Delhi Police constable was stabbed to death by three people while he was on a night patrol in southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri area, an officer said.

Two of the attackers were arrested Saturday, while the third is still at large.

Police arrested Deepak Max, 20, caught after an encounter by Crime Branch, while Krish Gupta, 18, by local police from the same area.

“Deepak received a bullet wound in his leg in retaliation by our team when he opened fire at them during his arrest near DDA flats in the afternoon,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Sain said.

Deepak is recuperating in a hospital. His gun was seized.

Gupta was arrested later in the day by a team of local police, another senior police officer said.

Police suspect the accused were drug addicts and engaged in petty crimes.

On Friday night, the three men were riding a scooter in the area to target some people or a house for theft when they were accosted by Constable Kiran Pal.

Pal, who was on his motorbike, spotted the trio near Govindpuri’s lane number 13 around 5.30 am.

The accused threw stones at Pal in a bid to get away, but Pal parked his bike in front of their scooter and took off the vehicle’s key.

As it happened, “the accused whipped out a knife and stabbed him,” the officer said.

Policemen from a nearby booth rushed Pal to Majidia Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. He had a stab wound each in his chest and abdomen.

Pal, a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr, is survived by his mother, elder brother and sister-in-law.

He was inducted in Delhi Police as constable in 2018 and was posted at Kishan Garh Police Station. He was posted in Govindpuri in March this year.

On January 4, Assistant Sub-Inspector Shambhu Dayal was stabbed to death after he accosted a snatcher in west Delhi’s Mayapuri area.

On September 29, constable Sandeep was dragged to death by two men in a car, when he stopped them from drinking alcohol in a public place in outer Delhi’s Nangloi. Sandeep was on a patrol on his bike in civil dress.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday held a meeting with senior police officers to review the law and order situation in the national capital.

The Delhi Police has booked seven persons who conducted a “fake” raid against a man living in DLF Farms area and tried to extort Rs 5 crore from him by impersonating as Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials.

The federal probe agency issued a statement Friday saying it was informed on October 22, around 12 pm that “some people posing as ED officers were conducting a fake ED search at Ashoka Avenue, DLF Farms in Chattarpur area of south Delhi.” “It was also informed that the fake ED officers have taken the victim to Kotak bank in Hauz Khas to withdraw Rs 5 crore from his bank account so that the same can be taken away in the name of ED raid,” the agency said.

The victim informed ED and police officials that seven people came to his house in the night of October 21 in two cars and claimed to be ED officers who had come for executing a raid.

He told the officials that three people interacted with him as the rest wore face masks.

The conmen asked the victim as to why he was withdrawing cash regularly from his bank account, the ED said.

They also showed him some cheques of his old bank account and the “fake” ED officers threatened to arrest him and take him away unless he agreed to pay them crores of rupees, the agency said.

As the victim stated that the money could be taken out only from the bank next morning, the fake ED officers stayed at the victim’s house that night.

When the fraudsters took the man to the bank next day, he “managed” to message his lawyer who soon landed at the bank and confronted the conmen and sought their IDs, according to the ED.

“The fake ED officers grew suspicious of being caught and ran away before the bank gates could be closed by the bank Manager,” the ED said.

Some of those who stayed back at the victim’s home also ran away after they got a wink of what happened at the bank. They, however, were not able to take the cars with them as the gates of the house were locked, the ED said.

It was after this that the agency officials were informed and they reached the bank along with the police.

The police registered an FIR, recorded the statement of the victim, and seized the cars that were parked at his house, the ED said.

A shocking incident in which 2 boys allegedly harassed and threatened a woman and her son with knives in Delhi’s Raj Park area has gone viral on social media after video footage of the incident was posted online.

In the video, two boys are seen surrounding a woman and her son, with one boy pulling out a long weapon from his waist and threatening to kill her. The boy is seen trying to attack the woman with a long knife, pulling it back and swinging it towards the woman at least twice. Another boy, wearing a cap, also joins in later, brandishing a knife.

A crowd is also seen witnessing the entire incident, with a few bystanders intervening to try and control the boys by pulling them away from the woman.

The incident allegedly occurred on September 22, with the video emerging on social media yesterday, say officials.

The viral video has prompted Delhi Police to register a case and intensify the search for the accused boys. “We have received a complaint and are investigating the matter based on the viral video,” a police spokesperson said.

Nearby residents are concerned about safety and law and order in the area, with many calling for swift action against the perpetrators.

Delhi Police are urging anyone with information about the incident or the accused to come forward and assist in the undergoing probe.

New Delhi:

A 32-year-old mentally challenged man was beaten to death allegedly for breaking the glass of a tempo parked near his house in Rohini’s Prem Nagar area, police said on Tuesday.

The police said five suspects have been caught in connection with the incident while the probe was on to identify others.

According to a police officer, the incident took place in Agar Nagar locality of Prem Nagar on Monday night. Deepak was standing outside his house when a group of men attacked him with rods and sticks.

During the course of interrogation, it was found that Deepak was mentally challenged and had broken the glass of tempo belonging to his neighbour. Some people got agitated and beat him up at about 9.20 pm, the officer said.

Deepak was taken to a hospital by his family members where he was declared dead. On the statement of the victim’s father, a case of murder was registered and five suspects were caught and interrogated further, the officer said.

New Delhi:

An 11-year-old student of a government school was allegedly sexually assaulted in her classroom by a self-defence trainer on Friday in Sultanpuri area of outer Delhi, triggering protests, police said.

The police have arrested the accused, Satish (45), who was conducting self defence classes for free of cost through an NGO, they said. He was not a regular teacher at the school.

Education minister Atishi has ordered an “immediate comprehensive and detailed inquiry” into the matter, said a statement from the Delhi government.

“The most stringent and decisive actions will be be taken based on the findings. The government remains firmly committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students,” it said.

A senior police officer said the family members and their neighbours gathered outside the police station and demanded action against the accused.

According to the victim’s father, his daughter called him in the afternoon stating that her sports teacher touched her inappropriately during the class and threatened her during the act.

He further said that they approached the school principal and also informed the local police about the matter.

On Friday at 12.12 pm, information was received regarding sexual harassment by school teacher, police said.

A case under sections 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered at Sultanpuri police station. Her counselling and medical examination is being conducted, police said.

Further investigation is underway, police added.

New Delhi:

A Delhi court has awarded life sentence to a woman for smothering to death her two minor daughters in 2018, terming it a “cold-blooded murder” and the rarest of rare cases.

The court observed that the gruesome offence shook the court’s conscience as mothers were idolised by society because of their nurturing role, sacrifices, emotional resilience and selflessness.

Announcing the punishment to Leelawati (32) who was earlier convicted for murder, Additional Sessions Judge Sachin Jain of Tis Hazari court said considering the well-being of the two surviving children of the convict and since there was a possibility of her rehabilitation and reintegration into society, life term was more appropriate than a death sentence.

According to the prosecution, she brutally murdered her two daughters, aged five years and five months respectively, by smothering them on February 20, 2018.

In its order, the court said, “No doubt, mother is always seen as a saviour because of her nurturing role and perceived sacrifice and for that reason, society intends to idolise motherhood, expecting women to be selfless, nurturing and emotionally resilient.

“Therefore, the act of murder of her own two daughters shakes the conscience not only of the court but of the society at large. Further, the act of smothering both the daughters by the convict is a clear-cut cold-blooded murder, bringing the present case into the category of rare of the rarest case.” It, however, said that the woman had two surviving children, a daughter (7) and a son (2), and their well-being and future needs had to be considered.

“The complete removal of their mother from their lives could have a profound and adverse impact on their upbringing. The convict is relatively young and there remains the possibility of her rehabilitation and reintegration into society after serving a substantial period of incarceration,” the court said.

It said when the aggravating and mitigating circumstances were weighed, the scale tilted towards the latter and it would be appropriate to award her a life sentence instead of the death penalty.

It sentenced the convict to imprisonment for life and a fine of Rs 10,000.

The court further observed that there was no ground for payment under the Delhi Victims Compensation Scheme as the “beneficiary was the culprit” in the case.

“In the present case, this court is dealing with a peculiar case in which the convict is the real mother of the victims or in other words the beneficiary is the culprit itself.

“Since both the girls/daughters have already lost their lives and the beneficiary is the culprit, who committed the gruesome murder and the father tried his level best to save the convict, instead of fighting for justice, therefore, no ground for grant of compensation is made out in the present case,” the court order read.

A 16-year-old boy was detained on Sunday for allegedly killing his father in a fit of rage, police said.

Police said the boy allegedly smashed a plastic pipe on his father’s head when the man was beating his wife in Delhi’s Rohini, resulting in his death.

“On Sunday, a call was received at 10.58 am regarding the murder of a person at the Aman Vigar police station,” a senior police officer said.

The man’s body has been preserved in the hospital for postmortem, police said.

Initial inquiry revealed that the killed man used to beat his wife and children on trivial issues under the influence of alcohol, said the officer.

“On Sunday, the killed man picked up a quarrel with his wife and was thrashing her, when his son intervened and hit his father’s head with a plastic pipe which resulted in his death,” said the officer.

Police said that an FIR under relevant sections of the BNS has been registered at the Aman Vihar police station.

New Delhi:

A case of alleged sexual assault on a 7-year-old girl in South Delhi has been registered, Delhi Police confirmed on Saturday.

According to police officials, the mother and father of the girl live in a rented accommodation in the house of a 72-year-old man identified as Gian Messay, who is accused of sexually assaulting the minor.

The girl had informed her parents that the man found out when the parents would be out of the house. Then he sexually assaulted her. The accused had allegedly been sexually assaulting the minor for the past month. After the information had been revealed to the parents, they filed a police report.

A medical examination was carried out of the minor and the accused has been arrested.

According to Delhi Police officials, the father is a labourer and the mother is a housewife.

The investigation is still ongoing and more details are awaited.

New Delhi:

A 22-year-old woman was stabbed to death while her mother suffered stab wounds after they were attacked allegedly by her father over money issues in the Dwarka area on Sunday, police said.

According to the police, the victims were identified as Rashmina Khatoon (22) and her mother, Sufia. The incident occurred in the Najafgarh area.

“On Sunday, a PCR call regarding murder was received at Najafgarh police station. Police reached the spot and found a 13-year-old girl, who took the support of her neighbour to make a PCR call,” said a senior police officer.

The officer further said that she stated that on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, an argument broke out between her mother, Sufia and father, Abas Ali, over money.

“Her father took a knife and stabbed her mother’s head. When her sister Rashmina Khatoon came to her rescue, he father stabbed her in her head, due to which she fell unconscious,” said the police officer.

According to the police, the team reached the RTRM Hospital in Jaffarpur, where injured Rashmina Khatoon was declared dead, and Sufia was injured.

“An FIR has been registered, and an investigation has been taken up,” the officer said. Multiple teams have been formed to arrest the accused.
