Delhi Capitals (DC) will take on two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 16th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, April 3. The Capitals, led by Rishabh Pant, will look to capitalise on their previous victory over the five-time winners, CSK. DC started their IPL 2024 campaign with a four-wicket defeat against Punjab Kings (PBKS). They later lost by 12 runs to the Rajasthan Royals (RR), but in their third encounter, they recovered and stunned defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 20 runs.

The Capitals are currently seventh in the IPL 2024 standings.

KKR, captained by Shreyas Iyer, had a good start to their 2024 campaign, defeating SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) by four runs in the first match and then followed it up by beating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by seven wickets.

With the recent win, KKR became the first side to win at an away venue in this year’s IPL. They are placed second with four points from two matches and a net run rate of +1.047.

Australia’s David Warner has been the standout batter for DC in the opening three matches. The swashbuckling southpaw has scored 130 runs in three matches, with the highest score of 52.

Axar Patel has contributed with both bat and ball in DC’s opening three games. Axar has been economical with his left-arm spin while delivering some crucial runs down the order. He will also play a significant role for DC against KKR.

Sumit Kumar

Bowling all-rounder Sumit Kumar has produced few lacklustre performances for the Capitals so far. The Gurgaon-born cricketer will need to bring his A-game against KKR for DC to secure his position in the first eleven.

Kuldeep Yadav

India’s star spinner, Kuldeep Yadav, has been the standout bowler for DC in their first three matches. The left-arm wrist-spinner has scalped three wickets in two matches with an economy of 7.63. He could be the wrecker-in-chief for the Capitals against KKR.

Nitish Rana is a key member of the Knight Riders’ middle order. Last year, the southpaw scored 413 runs for KKR and was one of the team’s bright spots. He has yet to perform this year, and this match will be a wonderful opportunity for him.

Rinku Singh

Rinku Singh had a memorable campaign last year, scoring 474 runs for KKR. In their IPL opener against SRH, Rinku made 23 to power KKR to 208/7. The explosive batter will again play the finisher’s role for KKR in IPL 2024.

Andre Russell

Star all-rounder Andre Russell began his IPL 2024 campaign on a high note as he played a match-winning innings of 64 not out and also took two scalps against SRH. He has scored more than 2,300 runs and has taken 98 wickets in the IPL, making the explosive all-rounder’s inclusion in the team a no-brainer.

Mitchell Starc

Mitchell Starc, who was bought for a hefty INR 24.75 crore, has had a disappointing start to the season. He will want to show his real worth in this game against a resurgent DC team.

Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy returned with 20 wickets in 14 matches for KKR last year but went for runs in his first IPL 2024 game. He will try to improve his tally in this contest.
