New Delhi:

At least six schools in Delhi received a bomb threat on Friday via email, the second such incident this week. The police have not found anything suspicious yet, officials said.

Delhi Public School in East of Kailash, Salwan School, Modern School, and Cambridge School, were among some of the institutions that received the threat. This has prompted the authorities to send students back home. The schools have also sent messages to guardians asking them not to send their children to classes today.

A copy of the email accessed by NDTV shows that it says there are “several explosives in the schools’ premises”. According to the sender, there is a “secret dark web” group that is involved in the alleged bomb blasts.

“I am sure that you all do not check your students’ bags frequently when they enter the school premises. The bombs are powerful enough to destroy the buildings and harm people. December 13 and 14, both days can be the day your school will face a bomb blast. On December 14, there is a scheduled parent-teacher meeting in some of the schools mentioned. Indeed it is a good chance and an advantage for the bombs to detonate,” the email reads.

It also asked the authorities to reply to the email to know the sender’s “demands”.

The fire department, police, and bomb detection teams, along with dog squads, have reached the schools and are conducting checks, officials said. The Delhi Police is also investigating the IP address and looking for the sender of the email.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal reacted to the bomb threats, calling it “extremely serious and worrying”.

“This is the second time in this week that Delhi schools have received bomb threats, which is extremely serious and worrying. If this continues, how badly will it affect the children? What will happen to their studies?” he said.

On December 9, over 40 schools in the national capital received a similar bomb threat via email. The police later declared it as a bomb hoax.

The email, sent at 11:38 pm on a Sunday claimed that multiple “small” bombs had been planted inside the school buildings. The sender also demanded $30,000 to defuse bombs.

“It will not cause very much damage to the building, but many people will be injured when the bombs detonate. You all deserve to suffer and lose limbs,” the hoax email read.

New Delhi:

At least four hospitals in Delhi received bomb threat calls this morning, weeks after several schools in the national capital as well as major Indian cities reported bomb hoax emails.

Delhi State Cancer Institute near the GTB Hospital, Dada Dev Hospital in Dabri, Hedgewar Hospital, and Deep Chandra Bandhu Hospital have received bomb threat calls, the Delhi Fire Department said. The calls are being verified, said the Fire department.

A spate of bomb hoaxes have been reported in the past weeks – at a time when security has been heightened across the country in view of the ongoing elections.

Nearly 100 schools in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) received hoax bomb emails on May 1, triggering panic among the school administrations and parents.

On May 6, seven schools in Ahmedabad received bomb threats via email. The emails were sent from servers with Russian IP addresses, sources had said. No suspicious material was found during searches by bomb disposal squads.

Similar bomb threat emails were received Sunday at the Delhi airport and several other addresses including major hospitals in the city. The threats were later found to be fake.

Yesterday, four schools in Jaipur received bomb threats via email. The children were immediately sent home and the bomb squad and sniffer dogs were deployed.

New Delhi:

Over 50 schools in Delhi and the National Capital Region have sent students home early today after receiving a bomb threat over email. Some other schools, which did not receive a threat mail have also decided to shut early as a precautionary measure.

The schools started receiving the threat emails as early as 4 am today. The bomb detection team, bomb disposal squad, and officials of Delhi Fire Service have been rushed to the schools.

Several other schools have also requested parents to come and pick up students early as a precautionary measure.

“The school has received no threat but as a matter of caution, we are sending students of pre-primary at 10.40 am and primary and senior school at 12 noon. Kindly be at the bus stop accordingly,” Father Agnel School informed parents in a message.

Mother Mary School at Mayur Vihar, Delhi Public School at Dwarka, Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri, Delhi Public School at Vasant Kunj, and Amity School in Saket were among the first ones to receive the threat. Since then, over 60 more schools have received a similar mail and it is suspected that one person was behind it all.

Security agencies, including the Delhi Police Special Cell, are trying to find the source of the email.

“The emails lack a date line but include ‘bcc’, indicating they’ve been sent to multiple recipients. This is a mischief, a mail has been sent to all the schools on such a large scale to spread panic. The cyber cell unit is also trying to trace the email and IP address,” police said.

The search teams on the ground have not found anything suspicious at any of the schools yet. Police have urged parents to not panic, as all appropriate measures are being taken.

“I request parents not to panic, as nothing suspicious has been found yet,” Delhi Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa told NDTV.
