Recently inducted Tamil Nadu Minister P. Vishwanathan paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at Jubilee Hills on Sunday.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister felicitated Mr. Vishwanathan on assuming charge as a Minister in the Tamil Nadu government and extended his best wishes for his new responsibilities. Mr. Viswanathan was the AICC Secretary for Telangana.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that political meetings, party flags and demonstrations should not be permitted in temple surroundings, and spiritual values must take precedence in such sacred spaces.

He directed officials to implement Tirumala-style regulations in and around major temples across the State to preserve their spiritual atmosphere.

At a review meeting on the development of Gnana Saraswati Temple in Basara on Saturday, the Chief Minister said that temples and their premises cannot be made political platforms and officials must ensure measures to curb such activities.

Officials made a PowerPoint presentation on the master plan for the Basara temple’s development, informing the Chief Minister that the project is estimated to cost ₹225 crore. After examining the plan, the Chief Minister suggested several modifications.

He instructed that development works be undertaken in accordance with temple traditions and scriptures, while giving utmost importance to devotees’ sentiments. Keeping in view future requirements and increasing pilgrim footfall, he directed that wide approach roads be constructed.

The Chief Minister also asked officials to ensure extensive plantation within the temple premises so that the surroundings flourish with large trees. He further proposed the construction of a health centre near the temple to provide medical services to devotees, especially during Pushkarams and major festivals, with adequate deployment of doctors and medical staff.

Mr Revanth Reddy ordered that vehicles of all dignitaries must be parked outside the temple premises and that only electric vehicles (EVs) should be allowed inside. He asked officials to prepare suitable plans for this arrangement and suggested installing a solar rooftop at the parking area.

Stressing that the sanctity of the temple must not be disturbed during the execution of works, the Chief Minister warned that any compromise in the quality of development would not be tolerated.

The review meeting was attended by Endowments Minister Konda Surekha, MP Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Srinivasa Raju, Endowments Principal Secretary Shailaja Ramaiyer, Commissioner Hanumantha Rao and other senior officials.
