Four people were killed, and two others injured after a fire broke out at an apartment building in Changsha, capital of central China’s Hunan Province, local firefighting authorities said on Sunday (August 2, 2026).

The blaze erupted at 3:54 a.m. Saturday (August 1).

Firefighters rescued the six people from the high-rise residential building and sent them to the hospital for treatment. Four of them later died despite medical efforts, while the remaining two are still receiving medical treatment, the state-run Xinhua news agencyreported.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway, the news agency said.
