A 20-year-old British man has died after being found injured in a lift shaft at his hotel near Lara Beach, Antalya. According to the Guardian, Tyler Kerry was on a vacation with his grandparents, Collette and Ray Kerry, girlfriend Molly and other relatives when the incident occurred. His body was discovered at the bottom of the lift shaft in their hotel in Antalya on Friday morning. According to his uncle, Alex Price, Tyler was found at 7 am local time and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“I got a phone call from my sister and she just said that Tyler had been found in the lift shaft at the hotel. An ambulance team were attending to him but unfortunately, they weren’t able to resuscitate him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene,” Mr Price said.

His family is devastated and seeking a thorough investigation into the circumstances of his death, which remain unclear. “The details are limited at the moment. The family is still in the dark about what’s happened and are eager for a thorough investigation to find out what’s happened,” Mr Price added.

The family is receiving support from the British consulate in Antalya and a representative from Tui, their tour operator. According to Mr Price, they are working to repatriate Tyler’s body to the UK, with the hope of completing this process by Tuesday.

An FCDO spokesperson said: “We are assisting the family of a British man who has died in Turkey.”

Meanwhile, a fundraiser has been launched to assist with funeral costs. On the GoFundMe page, his family wrote, “A young man full of personality, kindness and compassion with his whole life ahead of him. He was completely devoted to his family and girlfriend Molly. We are all absolutely devastated. Tyler had travel insurance which will hopefully cover the cost of bringing him home. We are asking for any donations towards the unforseen costs of dealing with the consequences of such a tragic incident, particularly the inevitable costs of laying Tyler to rest and ensuring he has a fitting and respectful funeral/memorial.”

He underwent an emergency surgery, that saved his life.

Nigel Hunt, a 59-year-old British man from the Isles of Scilly, narrowly escaped death after a seemingly minor spider bite that turned into a life-threatening ordeal. While lying in bed at home on August 30, Mr Hunt was bitten by a potentially deadly spider on his stomach. Initially, he felt no pain and thought nothing of it. However, just four days later, on his way to a holiday in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, he became severely ill, BBC reported. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors operated on his stomach after suspecting an abscess.

However, further diagnosis revealed something far more serious- necrotising fasciitis, a rare and deadly condition known as “flesh-eating disease.” He then underwent an emergency surgery, that saved his life.

Speaking of the ordeal, he recounted, ”On arriving at the airport and travelling through check-in we made our way to departures. At this point, everything seemed to deteriorate quite quickly from being sick in the departure lounge to having my head in a sick bag for most of the journey. On arrival at Sharm El Sheikh, we collected our belongings and made our way to the pharmacy for some antibiotics or something to help with the sickness. They prescribed a couple of things and the following day we went to the hospital to be prescribed the same medication.”

”The next two days started to get worse so we went to a different hospital in Hadaba where straight away I had blood tests and ultrasound scans. Then we waited a couple of hours for the doctor to check the results. He called us in saying it was a good job we had come in because the bite was from either a false widow or a brown recluse spider,” he added.

According to the NHS website, necrotising fasciitis is a rare and life-threatening infection that can happen if a wound gets infected and it needs to be treated in a hospital straight away.

Mr Hunt credits his second hospital visit with saving his life. He recalls, “If I hadn’t gone back to the hospital for a second examination within that critical 6-10 day window, I wouldn’t be alive today.”

Although he’s on the road to recovery, Mr Hunt still faces a long journey ahead. His wound remains open, requiring regular dressing changes every few days.

He has also issued a stark warning to his fellow residents on the Isles of Scilly. “I feel it’s essential to alert everyone to be cautious and check for spiders,” he emphasised.

He claimed that he’s ”doing the Lord’s work” after joining the Russian army in January.

A British man who flew to Russia to fight alongside Vladimir Putin’s forces in Ukraine has said he’s willing to die for the cause, Metro reported. Notably, British citizen Aiden Minnis, 37, is a former National Front member and convicted criminal from Chippenham, Wiltshire. He claimed that he’s  ”doing the Lord’s work” after joining the Russian army in January.

He said his fellow soldiers are his brothers, adding, ”I trust them and will die for them. They have proven themselves and helped me a lot. We understand each other. A bit of pidgin English and pidgin Russian and sign language. It gets done.”

Mr Minnis has multiple charges, ranging from dangerous driving causing the deaths of two people, a racist attack and beating up a homeless man.

Another British citizen Ben Stimson, 48, is also known to be fighting in Ukraine for Vladimir Putin’s regime. Both are understood to be in the Donbas region, which is under Russian occupation.

In a video, Mr Stimson, from Oldham, Manchester, said, ”Every man takes his choice… a lot of us, the foreign volunteers, have chosen to come over to this side, to the Russian side.”

According to BBC, he was previously jailed in the UK in 2015 for joining pro-Russian separatists in the east of Ukraine. Subsequently, his family cut off all communication with him.

His father said, ”I’ve cut him off. Before I cut him off he was in Moscow. I’ve been looking after Ben on and off for years and years. He’s on his own now. He’s 48 now, he can do what he wants. He’s been a constant worry. I want a bit of peace at my age. You never know what he’ll do next.”

The two men have also posted several videos of them on social media,  posing with grenades, and various flags and even showing two dead bodies.

A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) said: “Reports of British nationals taking part in Putin’s illegal invasion are shocking and their alleged actions are reprehensible. Those who travel from the UK to conflict zones to engage in unlawful activity should expect to be investigated upon their return.”

Both of them have been branded traitors by a former British Army commander. If either of the two men came back to the UK, they would be arrested under the Foreign Enlistment Act of 1870.

However, Mr Minnis said he had no plans to return to the UK and is in the process of obtaining a Russian passport.

The grandfather was upset by a lack of visits when he was in hospital.

A British judge has ruled that five granddaughters will receive only 50 Pounds (Rs 5,261) each from their grandfather’s 500,000 Pounds (Rs 5,26,13376) estate. The decision comes after the grandfather, a retired soldier named Frederick Ward Snr, reportedly felt hurt by his grandchildren’s lack of visits during his hospital stays for a lung condition, according to The Metro.

According to court documents, Mr Ward left the bulk of his estate to his two children, Terry Ward and Susan Wiltshire. The remaining grandchildren, children of Mr Ward’s late son Fred Jnr, received only 50 Pounds each in envelopes, sparking a family dispute.

After finding out they were mostly cut out of their grandfather Frederick Ward Snr’s will, his five granddaughters – Carol Gowing, Angela St Marseille, Amanda Higginbotham, Christine Ward, and Janet Pett – took legal action. They argued that they should receive a third of their late grandfather’s money arguing that their uncle and aunt, Mr Ward’s other children, had unduly influenced him to change the will in their favor.  However, the judge ruled in favor of the will, upholding Mr Ward’s right to distribute his estate as he saw fit.

According toThe Metro, High Court judge Master James Brightwell has now ruled the 2018 will was ‘entirely rational, adding that the grandchildren had ‘very limited contact’ with their ‘disappointed’ grandfather.

Throwing out their case, Master Brightwell said: “Some may take the view that, as a general proposition, when a testator’s child has predeceased him, he generally ought to leave an equal share of his residue to that child’s issue.”

“However, the decision not to do so and to split the residue and thus the bulk of the estate between his surviving children can hardly be said to be provision which no reasonable testator could make.”
