A Delhi court on Monday permitted the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to cremate or dispose of the mortal remains recovered after the November 2025 car bomb blast near Red Fort that claimed 14 lives.

Special Judge Pitambar Dutt of the Patiala House Courts directed that the remains be disposed of with dignity in accordance with the religious beliefs of the victims. The probe agency had sought permission to dispose of the remains as they had started decomposing. It informed the court that all required forensic examinations had been completed.

The court also allowed the NIA to dispose of the remains of Dr. Umar-un-Nabi, the prime accused in the case who allegedly drove the explosives-laden car that detonated in Delhi. The court asked the agency to file a compliance report.

13 chargesheeted

According to the NIA’s 7,500-page chargesheet filed on May 14, the explosion was allegedly orchestrated by a terror module led by a group of doctors.

Last month, the agency filed a supplementary chargesheet against three more persons, taking the total number of people chargesheeted in the case to 13.
