A video shared on X by user Deep Darshan captures a disturbing incident on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, where a man is seen wielding a long wooden log, seemingly attempting to obstruct high-speed vehicles and potentially causing them to topple. The alarming footage has sparked serious concerns among commuters about safety on the access-controlled highway, which has already been under scrutiny due to a history of frequent accidents.

Dashcam footage captured the unsettling incident, highlighting how it could have easily resulted in a fatal accident. Sharing the clip, Mr Darshan wrote: “A warning for travelers on the Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway: Attempted car-toppling near Kengeri (Jan 20, 6:42 PM). A miscreant was seen holding a log and placing it on the closest lane near the divider, seemingly to cause an accident and steal valuables. Video below.”

Watch the video here:

Mr Darshan tagged Bengaluru Police in his post, which was acknowledged by the authorities. The police wrote on X, “Please provide the exact  location of the incident happened and DM your contact number.” Mr Darshan also demanded immediate action on the matter.

Reacting to the video, a user wrote, “Damn … That’s soo dangerous and scary these things are happening… Putting others life in danger to snatch some valuables, that too at around 6:40 in the evening.”

Another user commented, “Just a suggestion. Drive in the middle lane on the highways. Use your right lane only for overtaking and then return back to middle. During the night its even more dangerous to be on the right lane.”

“Wow. How fearless these ppl are. Its just evening and not far from city limits. Imagine what they can do at nights. This highway has become worst in many ways. There is no control of entry exits, no patrolling…nothing except exorbitant toll cost. Now who will take credits,” the third user wrote on X.

The man sent his death note via email to several people (Representational)

Bengaluru:

A 34-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh died by hanging himself from the ceiling at his residence on Monday, police said.

Atul Subhash, who worked in a private firm in Bengaluru, left behind a 24-page death note alleging harassment by his wife and her relatives, they added.

The incident occurred in the Manjunath Layout area, which falls under the Marathahalli police station limits, police said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Subhash had been facing marital discord with his wife, and she had registered a case against him in Uttar Pradesh, a senior police officer said.

He also sent his death note via email to several people and shared it with a WhatsApp group of an NGO he was associated with, the officer said.

According to the police, Subhash hung a placard in his house that read “Justice is due”.

Before taking the extreme step, he allegedly pasted important details on a cupboard, including information about his death note, vehicle keys, and a list of tasks he had completed and those still pending, the officer said.

“A case will be registered in connection with the death once his family files a complaint. A detailed investigation is underway,” he added.

They were seen performing a scooter stunt on a busy road in Bengaluru’s Banashankari 2nd Stage area.

India has witnessed a disturbing surge in cases of reckless driving and performing risky stunts on roads, primarily for social media reel videos. This alarming trend poses a significant threat to road safety, putting drivers, pedestrians, and bystanders at risk. Recently, a shocking video surfaced on social media, showing two youths, including a minor, performing a daring scooter stunt on a busy road in Bengaluru’s Banashankari 2nd Stage area.

The footage, shared by @karnatakaportf, captures the duo executing a sit-down wheelie amidst heavy traffic. As the recorder tries to caution the boys, they glance back, unfazed, and continue their reckless ride.

“A small child was observed performing a wheelie on the road, posing a significant risk not only to themselves but also to the safety of others in the vicinity. The incident took place in Banashankari 2nd Stage, near Monotype, at approximately 8:22 PM. The vehicle involved was registered with the number KA01 V 5613. In response to the post, the Bengaluru police requested further details.

A Bengaluru man recently recounted a harrowing experience in which his car was attacked by a group of men in the middle of a busy road in the Kudlu area. Sharing pictures and videos of the incident on X, user Deven Mehta claimed that the attackers shattered his car windows, threw stones and threatened him and a woman inside his vehicle – all while a traffic police officer allegedly looked on without intervening. “My car was attacked by goons on crowded bangalore streets at 7pm while a traffic police watched them break glasses, throw stones & threaten us at Kudlu, despite a woman in the car,” Mr Mehta wrote on X.

In another post, the X user shared why the group of men attacked his vehicle. “Their bike touched my car (old car) from behind (their fault) in head-to-head traffic. I was looking from my mirror when they yelled in Kannada. I told them “Kannada illa, no problem, no damage- aap jao”. I believe they got infuriated at how a Hindi man gave them instructions,” Mr Mehta said.

In response to the post, the Bengaluru police requested further details, urging him to share his contact information via direct message. However, Mr Mehta declined to share any information, citing safety concerns. “Sorry, I don’t want to provide any details as I don’t feel safe. I have shared it here so that more people remain vigilant and careful on the streets till we get better police and safety services,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, in the comment section of Mr Mehta’s post, several users expressed frustration over the growing crime rate in the city.

“@BlrCityPolice congratulations. The city has gone to the dogs. Your inaction and silence on such matters is deafening. I sincerely hope you do something better than asking the sufferer for more details,” wrote one user.

“Wow….Bangalore is turning safer by the day. Goons being given a free hand to attack people, road range on the rise, everyone wants to come first on the road and show off this shitty driving skills, violations everywhere. Great progress seen in India’s Silicon Valley,” sarcastically commented another.

“A few  months back ihad seen a road rage incident at kathriguppe signal where two bike hooligans were thrashing each other at the junction holding up traffic. Amazingly the policeman just sat in his shelter watching them. Finally the public interfered and stopped them,” shared a third user.

“Its scary how road rage in this country is rising but you should file a complaint or atleast give details of the incident on their DM. Ur number plate was seen by them if they want they can anyways dig all ur details better take help of cops @BlrCityPolice,” suggested a fourth.

“Its so scary to see this kind of events happening regularly on the streets of Bengaluru. These goons know well that Police can’t hurt them otherwise they will not dare to touch/harrass anyone. Blr police is helpless here,” expressed one user.

Mr Kukkar said that such incidents have become common in the area.

A shocking incident took place in Bengaluru, leaving the internet shaken. Piyush Kukkar had a strange encounter on Varthur Road, near Prestige Lakeside Habitat, around 10 pm. The video was recorded on a dashcam. He said that the “staged harassment” took place on a busy road.

“When someone tells you Dashcam isn’t a necessity in BLR show them this, Another such incident in Bangalore outskirts, this time it happened with me. Today around 10:25 PM on the outskirts of BLR, I faced a staged harassment incident on Varthur road, near prestige lakeside habitat,” said the caption of the videos posted by the user on X (formerly Twitter).

On July 1, Mr Kukkar was driving on a busy street in the first clip, which was recorded at 10:24:50, when a person on a scooter abruptly blocked his route. According to the user, this is a regular tactic used to exacerbate the situation. In the second clip, a Bolero with its licence plate’s final two digits scratched started honking behind him. The user stated that the Bolero’s driver ordered him to stop and that the driver eventually came out and yelled at him.

In a long thread on the microblogging platform, he said, “They forced me to stop, and the Bolero driver got out and began shouting aggressively. Another person on a scooty took a U-turn and came very close to my car. I suspect Bolero guy indicated him regarding a dashcam being installed, hence he didn’t hit my car with his scooty.”

According to him, they backed off since they saw his dashcam recording. Mr Kukkar said that such incidents have become common in the area. “My family, including my 3-month-old son, was in the car, and this could have escalated dangerously. I have attached the dashcam footage here. As you can see in the video, I didn’t provoke them, as I have been seeing these harassment incidents on twitter very regularly, plus I had the dashcam installed. I consider myself very lucky today, but someone may not be that fortunate. Please install a Dashcam.”

His post gained widespread attention on social media and many users urged the Bengaluru police to take action. Responding to the same, the official account of the police department said, “Noted, we have informed to @varthurps for necessary action in this regard. @dcpwhitefield. Please provide your contact details via DM.”

In April, a video posted on Instagram by user Harikrishnan P showed a man being repeatedly beaten with an iron rod ruthlessly. After the attack, the assailants walked away.

Along with the video, the user wrote, “Today, during my drive near Kalyan Nagar, Bangalore, I witnessed a horrifying incident that shook me to the core. On the main road, I saw a person being viciously attacked with a steel rod, while the assailant walked away without a care in the world. This is just a glimpse of the violence that seems to be becoming all too common in our city. I’m deeply concerned about the safety of our community. Is Bangalore still a safe place to call home? It’s heartbreaking to witness such brutality on a daily basis. I urge the authorities of the Karnataka government to take immediate action and ensure that justice is served for the victim. We cannot allow such acts of violence to go unpunished. Please share this post and help spread the word. Together, we can make our city safer for everyone.”

Bengaluru:

Bengaluru police are investigating the mysterious death of a 37-year-old Uzbekistan woman at a hotel in the city. The woman, identified as Zareena, was found dead in her room at Jagadish Hotel in Bengaluru’s Seshadripuram area.

Zareena had arrived in Bengaluru four days ago on a tourist visa.

Police said that the hotel staff knocked at Zareena’s room, which is on the second floor, yesterday afternoon at 4.30 pm. On not receiving a response, they unlocked the door with a master key and found her lying dead.

The hotel manager promptly filed a complaint, and police registered a case of mysterious death.

Police said that an investigation is on, but prima facie evidence points to murder. They believe that Zareena was smothered and have sent the body to Bowring Hospital for post-mortem.

The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, accompanied by a canine squad, meticulously combed through the room for any traces of evidence that could unravel the mystery in the case. The CCTV and register at the hotel are being examined to see if anyone visited Zareena’s room on Wednesday.
