External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday (October 28, 2026) held wide-ranging talks with his Austrian counterpart Beate Meinl-Reisinger focusing on deepening bilateral ties in areas of trade and investment, infrastructure, technology and education.

Meinl-Reisinger is currently on a visit to New Delhi.

In a social media post, Mr. Jaishankar said he held an “in-depth conversation” with the Austrian foreign minister “on various facets of our enhanced partnership including trade, investments, infrastructure, technology, education and culture”. “Also spoke about new avenues in startups, space, skilling and mobility,” he said.

The EAM said he and Meinl-Reisinger exchanged views on global developments and their impacts.

“Our discussions reflected the warmth of our friendly ties,” he added.

India-Austria ties have been on an upswing in the last few years.

The total bilateral trade volume was $2.93 billion. Indian exports to Austria were $1.52 billion, and imports were $1.41 billion.
