A day after a video showing a car hitting her motorcycle on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road went viral, biker Sia has hit back at the driver’s claim that the collision was accidental, questioning why he did not stop to check whether she was injured after the crash.

In a video statement posted on Instagram late Monday (September 14, 2026), Sia said the footage showed the car following the group before the collision and rejected the driver’s claim that he had been trying to avoid the bikers. She also questioned his assertion that he did not know the rider was a woman.

“It is very clear from the original video who was pinching whom. Even if you felt we were changing speed, that does not give you the right to chase us all the way,” she said.

The driver, identified as Kalyan Baisla, has denied deliberately hitting Sia. He claimed that a group of 22–23 bikers was riding aggressively, repeatedly overtaking his car and slowing down in front of it. He said Sia suddenly turned while he was taking a U-turn, leaving him little time to react, and that he had tried to avoid the collision.

Sia, however, said there were two separate recordings of the collision, including footage from her motorcycle-mounted camera. “One video shows you switching directly from the first to the third lane to hit and then run away. Another video, recorded by my camera from the front, shows you hitting me and your car violently colliding with my bike, eventually making me fall and drag on the road,” she said.

She questioned why the driver did not stop after the collision, regardless of who was at fault. “Aren’t these two videos enough? Why did you not stop to check on me? It was your responsibility to stop and check whether I had suffered any injuries after you knocked me down,” she said.

Sia said she suffered injuries to her knees and credited her riding gear with protecting her from more serious injuries.

“I am grateful to God that I was wearing my riding shoes and riding gloves. If I hadn’t been wearing my riding shoes and gloves, the impact on my hand could have even broken my shoulder. My leg could have been broken too,” she said.

She also questioned the driver’s claim that he did not know she was a woman. “He saw my long hair from behind, he gestured and asked me to stop,” she said.

In a statement on Tuesday morning (September 15), Sia again rejected the driver’s version and said she had no reason to deliberately ride close to or cut off a car. She alleged that the video showed an intentional hit and described the incident as a hit-and-run.

“The whole country has seen the video showing exactly what happened, and obviously, the driver is at fault. It’s a hit-and-run case; the video shows an intentional hit, amounting to attempted murder,” she said.

Sia also questioned the police response, saying the Gurugram Police had contacted her through Instagram after her video went viral. She alleged that despite the vehicle’s registration number being included in her original post, the driver had not been arrested.

“He hit someone, left them on the road to die, and drove off; yet, he is still roaming around freely. He’s giving soundbites to news reporters and presenting his side of the story. How is he getting so much time? Why isn’t the police arresting him?” she said.

She criticised what she described as an uneven focus on bikers, saying traffic enforcement often targets riders for issues such as exhaust modifications while questions remain over action against motorists accused of dangerous driving.

“If you impose so many restrictions on bikers in Gurgaon, you should also look at those driving four-wheelers. What are you doing about the people driving so rashly?” she said.

Sia said the incident had left her questioning the safety of women riding on roads in Gurugram and Delhi. She thanked those who had supported her after the video went viral and said she hoped the incident would encourage motorists to drive more responsibly.

The Gurugram Police had earlier taken suo motu cognisance of the video after it came to their notice through social media monitoring and registered an FIR at Sector 56 police station. Police have said the accused would be identified during the investigation and legal action would follow under the relevant provisions.

A woman biker was thrown off her motorcycle after a car rammed into her on Golf Course Road in Gurugram on Sunday (September 13, 2026) and fled the scene, with the motorcycle sent sliding several metres along the road. The collision was captured on an action camera mounted on the bike and the footage, posted online by the rider, has since gone viral.

The Gurugram Police have launched a suo motu enquiry into the incident , Gurugram East DCP Sandeep Kumar told The Hindu. “We are analysing the video and tracing both the accused and the creator/victim. We have not received any formal complaint from the creator, but we are launching a suo motu enquiry and will book a case based on the findings,” he said.

The accused has been identified in connection with the incident. Three teams have been deployed, and raids are being conducted at the accused’s possible hideouts. Efforts are under way to arrest the accused at the earliest, said Gurugram Police.

Gurugram Police took suo motu cognisance of the video and registered an FIR at Sector 56 police station.

The rider, who identifies herself as Sia and runs the Instagram page ‘rebelwheels_sia_’, alleged in the video that the occupants of a white car had been chasing her while she was riding her Aprilia RS 457 with members of her biking group.

According to Sia, the car repeatedly came close to her motorcycle, and its occupants behaved aggressively. She said she signalled to the driver to maintain a distance, but the occupants instead asked her to stop. She also alleged that the men appeared to be drunk.

Sia said she continued riding to prevent the car from blocking her path, while a friend riding behind her tried to shield her and prevent the vehicle from coming alongside her.

She alleged that the car continued to pursue her before the driver attempted to cut in front of her motorcycle. The vehicle then hit the bike horizontally, throwing her off and sending the motorcycle sliding several metres before it came to a halt. The car sped away without stopping.

After the collision, one of Sia’s friends chased the car and confronted the driver when it stopped at a traffic signal. Her friend told the driver that he had caused the crash, but the driver denied responsibility and drove away.

Car owner says friend borrowed vehicle days ago

The video identifies the vehicle as bearing registration number ‘HR30Y4949’ as its registered owner.

Meanwhile, Manish, the owner of the car, said a friend had borrowed the vehicle two days ago and that he learnt about the crash only on Monday (September 14, 2026) morning.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Manish said the car belonged to him and that he was at work when his friend, from Paliwal in Haryana, took the vehicle after telling him that he needed to go somewhere.

Sia has urged the Gurugram Police to take action against the driver, alleging that the incident endangered her life and that he fled after the crash.

The video has prompted several social media users to tag the Gurugram Police, Gurugram Traffic Police and Haryana Police, seeking action against the driver.

“I have nothing to say, but today I felt unsafe on Gurugram roads. People like these aren’t afraid of hitting people and running away,” Sia said, demanding action.
