Dasari Narendar was arrested after the raid

Hyderabad:

Rs three crore cash and gold worth lakhs were recovered during a raid by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on the residence of the superintendent and revenue in-charge officer at the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation in Telangana on Friday. 

During the search at officer Dasari Narendar’s residence, the ACB discovered Rs 2.93 crore in cash stashed in his house, along with a bank balance totaling Rs 1.10 crore in accounts held by him, his wife, and his mother. 

The cash was recovered from carton boxes under his bed.

Around 51 tolas (about 595 grams) of gold worth Rs six lakh and 17 immovable properties valued at Rs 1.98 crore were also seized. The total value of the assets seized so far amounted to approximately Rs 6.07 crore.

The raid, conducted as part of a case registered against him for disproportionate assets, revealed assets far exceeding his known sources of income.

Narendar, who was appointed on compassionate grounds after his father’s death, was arrested after the raid.

The case against Narendar falls under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, specifically Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2), which deal with the acquisition of assets disproportionate to known sources of income through corrupt practices. 

The ACB is further conducting searches to recover additional assets.

Jaipur:

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Rajasthan on Friday conducted searches at the premises of IAS officer Meghraj Singh Ratnu, posted as Registrar in the Cooperative Department, for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his income, a top official said.

The searches covered locations in Jaipur, Ajmer, Sriganganagar, Jaisalmer and Sikar. Mr Ratnu’s office was also searched, Additional Director General, ACB, Hemant Priyadarshi said.

He said assets, including land plots, flats, leases in the names of Mr Ratnu and his family members, Rs 6 lakh cash and gold and silver jewellery, and bank account details and documents were found during the searches.

Mr Priyadarshi said that the ACB received information that Mr Ratnu spent Rs 60 lakh on his daughter’s education and Rs 1.5 crore on her marriage.

He said the total value of the recovered assets will be known after a final assessment.

Chandigarh:

Haryana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested an IAS officer, Jaibir Singh, for allegedly demanding a bribe to sanction a transfer, an official spokesperson said on Thursday.

Jaibir Singh, who is posted as the managing director of the Haryana State Warehousing Corporation, is the second bureaucrat to be arrested in a corruption case in two days.

IAS officer Vijay Dahiya was arrested by the ACB in connection with a corruption case on Tuesday.

A complaint was received that Singh had demanded a bribe of Rs 3 lakh from the complainant for sanctioning a transfer. The ACB arrested Singh o n Wednesday after a middleman allegedly accepted the bribe on his behalf, an ACB spokesperson said.

The middleman, a private individual, was also arrested from Panchkula, he said.

A case has been registered against Singh, the private person and two others at Panchkula ACB police station, the spokesperson said.

Thane:

An official from the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP), a state government undertaking, was arrested for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a man in Thane district, an official from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said on Friday.

The ACB on Thursday registered an offence against senior clerk Sripat Khade (52) of the MJP under the Prevention of Corruption Act, deputy superintendent of police, ACB Thane, Sanju John said.

The accused official allegedly demanded Rs 5,000 from the complainant for registering him as a contractor with the MJP, the official said.

The MJP is a state government undertaking that provides technical sanctions and implements water supply and sewerage projects.

The ACB’s Thane unit on Thursday laid a trap and arrested the accused while he was accepting the bribe amount, he said.
