Controversial social media personality Andrew Tate has set his sights on the Prime Minister’s office in the UK. His political vehicle? A newly formed party called the ‘BRUV’, short for ‘Britain Restoring Underlying Values’. The party’s launch, marred by controversy, policy backlash, and even a temporary suspension of its official X account for unspecified issues, has been anything but smooth.

Its policies have sparked heated debate, with critics flagging concerns over data protection, extreme measures, and alarming proposals.

Here’s a breakdown of Tate’s controversial platform:

Restoring accountability in leadership

All promises come with strict timelines—failure to deliver results in immediate resignation, with no excuses.

Leadership as a temporary mission rather than a long-term reign.

Crime and Punishment

Tate proposes a dystopian deterrent for knife crime offenders with a BBC channel dedicated to broadcasting 24/7 footage of convicts in solitary confinement. “No redemption arcs. No second chances. Just the cold, hard reality of a life wasted in a concrete cell,” the policy document reads. Tate argues this will discourage youth from crime.

Immigration and Border Control

On illegal migration, the party pledges to enforce a zero-tolerance policy with the Royal Navy ensuring “illegal immigration will fall to zero.” A statement in the charter reads: “We have no obligation to save you from that boat no matter how rough the sea.”

LGBTQ stance

The BRUV Party seeks to eliminate what it calls “LGBTQ+ propaganda” from schools, harking back to Margaret Thatcher’s Section 28 policy. The charter outlines plans to promote “traditional family values” and prohibit classrooms from becoming “battlegrounds for ideological warfare.”

Cultural restoration

Tate proposes a sweeping cultural overhaul to restore Britain’s identity, including capping non-British residents at 10 per cent of the population, appointing a Minister for British Culture to preserve history, replacing modern art with monuments honouring British heroes, and ensuring “every street in Britain feels British” with English signage, flags, and traditional architecture.

Ending foreign aid

The BRUV Party vows to cut foreign aid to zero and avoid foreign wars. “Every single pound will be reinvested into rebuilding Britain,” the manifesto declares.

DOGE to DADDY

One of the party’s more unconventional ideas is to hold weekly referendums on major issues, using blockchain technology to securely log votes. Tate claims, “Great Britain’s DOGE will be DADDY,” – short for Department of Assistance And Development Of Domestic Youth.

Healthcare

Prioritising services for British taxpayers and citizens.

Eliminating health tourism and recovering costs from non-citizens.

Who is Andrew Tate?

Andrew Tate faces multiple charges across two cases in Romania and the UK. Romanian prosecutors have accused him and his brother, Tristan, of human trafficking and rape, involving seven women allegedly misled into relationships and forced into creating pornographic content. Other charges include money laundering and trafficking minors

In August 2024, he was placed under house arrest by a Romanian judge following accusations of sex with a minor and trafficking underage persons.

The UK charges, linked to incidents between 2012 and 2015, include allegations of sexual aggression. Both brothers denied all accusations, claiming they were targets due to their money. The Romanian legal process has faced delays, with the indictment sent back for review. The brothers remain under legal restrictions, with assets seized and investigations underway.

Elon Musk’s X platform recently caused problems for Andrew Tate. Shortly after he announced his intention to run for prime minister and established his political party, Britain Restoring Underlying Values (BRUV), the party’s official handle was unexpectedly and mysteriously suspended. In a post on X, Tate posted the party’s charter, highlighting his accountability and threatening to step down if he didn’t perform his promises.

In a post after the ban, the former kickboxer tagged Elon Musk and asked the billionaire why the account had been deactivated. After a short period, the political party’s handle @votebruv was restored, prompting Tate to thank Musk publicly. In his reaction, Tate reiterated his mission to “bring greatness back to Britain.”

“We are back. Join us @votebruv. We’re taking Britain back to greatness. The revolution will be televised,” he wrote. He thanked Musk, calling him a “bro” and using the term “bruv” in his message. Replying to that, Elon Musk wrote, “Not sure why it was suspended, but it seems to be fixed now.”

Describing the political campaign, the official website of the political party Britain Restoring Underlying Values (BRUV) mentioned the motive as “This is a war to reclaim Britain. No excuses, no compromises, no second chances. We will defend our borders, crush crime, purge corruption, and restore pride to a nation under siege.”

“Britain will rise again-stronger, unyielding, and unapologetic. If you want safety, power, and freedom, join the fight. The time for talk is over. It’s action or nothing.”

Diljit Dosanjh handed his jacket to an emotional female fan.

Controversial British-American influencer Andrew Tate is once again in the eye of a storm for a racist comment he made on a video in which Punjabi rockstar Diljit Dosanjh was seen gifting his jacket to a fan.

Mr Dosanjh, currently on his 2024 India Tour, shared the moment with a female fan during his Delhi concert. The video, which has been circulating on social media, shows the singer handing over his jacket to the emotional fan, with her husband also visibly moved by the gesture.

However, the beautiful moment was marred by Andrew Tate’s disturbing comment on an X post. Tate, known for his misogynistic views, wrote, “Bet it stinks of curry,” referring to the jacket Mr Dosanjh gifted to his fan.

The internet didn’t take the comment lightly.

A user wrote, “Still smells better than sexual misconduct.”

Another taunted, “Which is worst? A pedo or currified jacket?”

Last month, Andrew Tate was accused of rape by two British women. These accusations surfaced amid ongoing investigations into his activities, including charges related to sex with minors and trafficking underage individuals.

The Tate brothers were already facing serious charges that could lead to over ten years in prison if convicted. Despite the numerous allegations against him, Tate consistently denied any wrongdoing, claiming he never engaged in non-consensual acts.

Earlier, the controversial social media personality was involved in a public spat with Indian-American doctor Kirti Patel. This exchange was triggered by Tate’s shirtless photo captioned, “I don’t sleep with vaccinated women.” Dr Patel criticised his physique, expressing her aversion to “gym bros” with “ripped abs.” Tate responded by mocking Dr Patel’s appearance in a series of tweets, saying, “I’m super disappointed that I’m not attractive to you Kirti. I was only trying to make my arms as big as your nose.

Bucharest:

Romanian authorities on Wednesday searched the home of controversial influencer Andrew Tate, who is awaiting trial over human trafficking and rape charges, as part of a new investigation, officials said.

One of the world’s best-known influencers known for misogynist and sometimes violent maxims, Andrew Tate has been accused of having formed an organised criminal network in early 2021 in Romania and Britain, along with his brother Tristan. They have denied the charges.

Prosecutors allege that 37-year-old Tate, his 36-year-old brother and two women set up a criminal organisation and sexually exploited several victims. A trial date has not yet been set.

On Wednesday prosecutors “conducted a raid this morning, on August 21, 2024, at the residence of the Tate brothers as part of a search related to a new investigation”, prosecutors said in a statement.

The Office for Organised Crime (DIICOT), said that four search warrants were executed, in connection with “the crimes of forming an organised criminal group, trafficking in minors”, “sexual relations with a minor” and “money laundering”.

Neither of the statements indicated whether the new charges targeted the brothers.

They were detained in 2022 in Bucharest and spent three months in detention before being released under judicial supervision to await trial.

The brothers also face rape and assault allegations in separate cases in Britain, where they have also been accused of tax evasion.

In 2016, Tate appeared on the “Big Brother” reality television show in Britain but was removed after a video emerged showing him attacking a woman.

He then turned to social media platforms to promote his divisive views.

Giving tips on how to be successful, along with misogynistic and sometimes violent maxims, his videos have made him one of the world’s best-known influencers.

Bucharest:

A Romanian court has approved a request from Britain to extradite internet personality Andrew Tate but postponed doing so until Romanian trial proceedings finish.

The court said on Tuesday it had also ruled that Tate and his brother Tristan should be released from police custody immediately. The Tates had been detained for 24 hours pending a ruling on the British arrest warrant.

The court of appeals said in a statement that it “rules to execute the arrest warrant and…to postpone handing over the requested person until the final verdict in the criminal case argued at the Bucharest court”.

Tate and his brother Tristan were detained on Monday night on allegations of sexual aggression dating back to 2012-2015, which they “categorically” deny, his PR team said. The warrant was issued by Westminster Magistrates Court in London.

“We are innocent men, we are very innocent men and in time everyone is going to see that and we are very excited to finish this judicial process and clear our names,” Tate said as he was released from police custody.

“It’s very funny because I’ve been asking Romanian courts to go to the U.K. myself. I’ve asked five times and been declined so now I get to go home. That’s fantastic news,” he said.

British police told Reuters the Tates were part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of rape and human trafficking, adding they were working with Romanian authorities.

“We appreciate the Bucharest Court of Appeal’s decision to postpone the extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate,” Eugen Vidineac, legal counsel for the defendants, said in a statement.

“This ruling provides an opportunity for the brothers to participate fully in their defence and for the legal process to proceed in a transparent manner.”

Tate, who gained millions of fans by promoting an ultra-masculine lifestyle, was indicted in June in Romania along with his brother and two Romanian women for human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women. They have denied the charges.

The case has since been with the Bucharest court’s preliminary chamber, which needs to decide whether the trial can start. A decision has yet to be made, with Romanian courts backlogged.

The Tate brothers were held in police custody pending the criminal investigation from late December 2022 until April, to prevent them from fleeing the country or tampering with evidence. They were placed under house arrest until August.

They have since been under judicial control, a lighter preventative measure meaning they have regular check-ins with the police but can move around freely except for leaving the country.

Bucharest:

Controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have been arrested in Romania over UK sex offence charges, police said on Tuesday.

Romanian authorities said in a statement they executed “two European arrest warrants issued by the UK judicial authorities for the committing of sexual offences, of exploitation of persons on the territory of the UK”.

A Bucharest court ordered they be held for 24 hours, police said.

Tate — a self-described misogynist with a large online presence — is awaiting trial in Romania along with his brother  on separate charges of human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal group to sexually exploit women.

Tate’s spokesperson said in a statement on Tuesday that the pair was “under arrest”, adding that the warrants were “issued by (the) Westminster Magistrates Court”.

In June 2023, lawyers for four women threatened Tate with a lawsuit in the English courts over allegations of sexual assault, serving the former kickboxer with legal papers by British law firm McCue Jury and Partners.

The women, now in their late twenties and early thirties, say the offences took place between 2013-2016, when Tate was based in the UK.

A statement from the UK law firm representing them said allegations “including violent rapes, serious physical assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour.”

Tate’s spokesperson said that Andrew and Tristan Tate “unequivocally deny all allegations and decry what they perceive as an exploitative use of the legal system”.
