Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo is yet to make a decision on his future with Portugal after their disappointing exit from the EURO Cup 2024, according to a report from Goal.com. The report stated that Ronaldo is yet to decide his international future as the fans have started to speculate that the 39-year-old will retire from Portuguese football after their loss against France in the quarterfinal match of the Euro 2024. Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal crashed out of the ongoing Euro 2024 after their disappointing loss against France. Portugal kept the game 0-0 until the full time of the match, but in the penalties, they failed to save a single shot from the French players and lost by 5-3.

Euro 2024 was disheartening for Ronaldo as he failed to score a single goal in the tournament after playing all five matches. However, he kept just one assist.

Speaking after the match against France, Martinez talked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s chances of retiring from international football and said that no decision has been made till now. The head coach added that everything is too raw for his side.

Martinez confirmed that no ‘individual decision’ has been made after the match against France on Friday.

“No. Everything is too raw. We are still suffering the defeat. There’s no individual decision at this point,” Martinez was quoted by Goal.com as saying.

Portugal dominated the quarter-final match against France in Hamburg. Ronaldo’s side kept a total of 60 per cent ball possession, on the other hand, France kept 40 per cent ball possession.

After both teams failed to score in the 120 minutes of the match, the game moved to penalties. Portugal’s Joao Felix was the only player to miss the penalty and pushed Roberto Martinez’s side to the back foot. Later in the match, the French side won the game 5-3 on penalties.

Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo was shattered to the core as his Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr lost the King’s Cup final to rivals Al-Hilal on Friday. The closely-fought tie saw Ronaldo hitting the post with a beautiful bicycle kick, as the match headed into penalties after the normal time score remained 1-1. No winner could be decided in the extra-time, prompting penalties to be taken where Al-Hilal emerged triumphant 5-4, leaving Ronaldo tearful and inconsolable. While other players might see the Saudi Arabia experience as a ‘retirement league or competition’, Ronaldo’s emotions proved that, for him, it was much more than that.

As Al Nassr lost the match on penalties, Ronaldo sunk to the turf and was inconsolable as teammates and coaching staff tried to lift his spirits. Officials and teammates off the field accompanied the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, as he sat on the bench with the runners-up medal around his neck.

For Al Hilal, Serbian forward Aleksander Mitrovic opened the scoring at the 7th minute before Ayman Yahya of Al Nassr equalised late into the 88th minute. Finding an equaliser had become quit tough for Ronaldo’s side after their goalkeeper David Ospina had received a red card in the 56th minute.

Al Nassr kept the pressure on Al Hilal after Ospina’s sending-off. Right before the 90-minute mark, Al Hilal saw both of their center-backs Kalidou Koulibaly and Ali Al-Bulaihi being sent-off by the referee.

The extra-time gave Al-Nassr the golden period to find a winner by goalkeeper Yassine Bonou’s heroics kept the scores level the entire extra-time. It was in the shootout that Bonou shone yet again, saving the final two penalties from Ronaldo’s side as Al-Nassr took the cup home despite missing their talismanic forward Neymar Jr. due to an injury.

Cristiano Ronaldo broke the record for the most goals in a Saudi Pro League season when he struck for the 34th and 35th time in Al Nassr’s final game of the campaign. “I don’t follow the records, the records follow me,” the 39-year-old Portuguese forward tweeted afterwards. The former Real Madrid and Manchester United star struck in first-half stoppage time and again in the 69th minute with a header as Al Nassr defeated Al Ittihad 4-2 at home on Monday.

The previous record for most goals in a single season was the 34 scored by the Moroccan Abderrazak Hamdallah in 2018-19.

Al Nassr were already assured of a second-placed finish, coming a distant 14 points behind champions Al Hilal.

Ronaldo joined Riyadh-based Al Nassr in December 2022, the start of an influx of overseas players to the Saudi league on lucrative contracts.

Ronaldo, who led Portugal to victory at the 2016 Euros, has been selected for the squad for this year’s edition in Germany next month — his 11th international tournament.

He is the most capped player in men’s international football with 206 appearances and has scored a record 128 goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored in extra time but Al Nassr side were dumped out of the Asian Champions League quarter-finals on penalties by Al Ain on Monday. The 39-year-old Portuguese was the only Al Nassr player to score in the shootout as his Saudi side went out 3-1 on penalties, the tie having ended 4-4 on aggregate. It was a frustrating night for the former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward, who missed a sitter from three yards with the goal gaping in normal time in Riyadh.

Beaten 1-0 in the first leg in the United Arab Emirates, Ronaldo took the quarter-final to penalties when he held his nerve from the spot in the 118th minute.

His calmly taken spot-kick made it 4-3 on the night to the hosts, who had Ayman Yahya sent off in the 98th minute.

But the home team failed with three of their four efforts in the shootout to send Al Ain into the last four of Asia’s top club competition.

The Brazilian international defender Alex Telles, also formerly of Manchester United, was among the Al Nassr players to fluff his lines during the shootout.

In Tuesday’s quarter-finals, Ulsan face Jeonbuk in an all-Korean tie locked at 1-1.

The Saudi sides Al Ittihad and Al Hilal also clash, with Al Hilal ahead 2-0 from the first leg.

Harry Kewell’s Yokohama F-Marinos host Chinese side Shandong Taishan on Wednesday with a 2-1 lead from the first leg.

Portuguese star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo‘s girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez wore a dress inspired by his Manchester United jersey on the catwalk at Paris Fashion Week on Friday. Rodriguez took to the ramp for athleisure brand Vetements and her dress even had a special message from Ronaldo himself. Ronaldo had signed the front of the dress addressed to Vetements and on the back, it said “to the love of his life” with the sign “Gio x Vetements.” The pictures caused quite a stir among football fans and it has already gone viral on social media with many users commenting on the love between the two.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia’s football governing body on Thursday suspended Cristiano Ronaldo for one game over a gesture he made on the pitch last weekend that was judged a “provocation”.

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation said the Al-Nassr captain and former Porto star was also fined a total of 30,000 riyals ($8,000) for the move, which broke rules against provoking the public during a match. The decision cannot be appealed.

Video emerged after his side’s 3-2 win against Al-Shabab showing Ronaldo making a repeated thrusting gesture towards his groin in response to crowds taunting him by chanting the name of his longtime rival, Lionel Messi.

The content quickly went viral and surged to the top of Saudi social media trending topics.

Sports newspaper Al-Riyadiya reported Ronaldo as saying he respected all football clubs and that the gesture expressed “strength and victory” — not offence — and was considered acceptable in Europe.

The 39-year-old, a five-time winner of the UEFA Champions League, was the first major star to move to the kingdom when he penned a deal with Al-Nassr in January 2023.

Portuguese star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo added another accolade to his already illustrious career as he scored his 750th goal in club football during Al-Nassr’s 3-2 win over Al-Shabab in the Saudi Pro League on Sunday. It was a big occasion for the footballer as he controlled the game and guided his side to a much-needed victory. However, the occasion was marred with controversy as he was targeted with “Messi Messi” chants from a section of the opposition fans. In reply, Ronaldo directed a gesture towards them that many alleged was obscene and the video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

Earlier, Ronaldo guided Al Nassr into the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions League as the Saudi Arabian side defeated domestic rivals Al Fayha 2-0 to progress 3-0 on aggregate.

Nassr, who won last week’s first leg 1-0 thanks to a Ronaldo goal nine minutes from time, were the better side at Al Awwal Park and took the lead on 17 minutes through Portuguese winger Otavio.

The former Porto star, who joined Nassr last summer, headed home from close range to score in his second successive game for the club. His compatriot, Ronaldo, looked set to endure a frustrating night personally, with the Portugal captain having a number of penalty appeals turned down and, not long into the second half, a goal disallowed for offside.

Ronaldo, 39 earlier this month, was also booked in first-half stoppage time for a late challenge, with Nassr manager Luis Castro then given a yellow card for protesting the decision too vehemently.

However, the Nassr skipper would have the final say, when four minutes from time, he latched onto yet another Marcelo Brozovic through ball.

Fayha goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic really should have dealt with the situation but could only kick his attempted clearance off the onrushing Ronaldo.

The ball fell invitingly for Ronaldo to tap into the empty net.

It marked the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus forward’s 10th goal in his past nine matches for Nassr. Ronaldo, a five-time winner of the UEFA Champions League, is competing for the first time in its Asian equivalent.

Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed a winning debut in the Asian Champions League as he helped Al Nassr to a 2-0 victory against 10-man Persepolis in Iran on Tuesday night. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who has five UEFA Champions League titles to his name, captained the Saudi Arabian side to an opening three points in Group E.  The match at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran was played without fans after the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) upheld a one-game ban for Persepolis supporters dating back to 2021.

That clearly helped Nassr, who grabbed both goals in the second half against the two-time runners-up, through a Danial Esmaeilifar own goal and a fine strike by defender Mohammed Qassem.

It marked the first time a Saudi club played in Iran since 2016, after the AFC announced a “ground-breaking agreement” earlier this month between the two countries’ federations.

Iran and Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic ties seven years ago, meaning Asian Champions League matches had been since played at neutral grounds.

Ronaldo, 38, was heavily involved throughout, twice going close in the first half.

His initial chance – a powerful, close-range header – was sent straight at Persepolis goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand which left Ronaldo beating the post in frustration.

Nassr’s hopes grew considerably at the beginning of the second half, when Persepolis midfielder Milad Sarlak was given a second yellow card, this time for appearing to stamp on Ronaldo’s boot.

Replays showed it was unintentional, the contact minimal.

Ronaldo played a key role in Nassr’s opener just after the hour, the Portuguese instigating the move that led to Abdulrahman Ghareeb’s blocked shot cannoning off Persepolis full-back Esmaeilifar and nestling in the net.

Ten minutes later, Nassr left-back Mohammed Qassem broke down the left and thumped his shot high past Beiranvand to double the visitors’ advantage and secure the points.

– Incheon win –

In the group’s other match, Iran’s Istiklol were held to a goalless draw in Dushanbe by Qatari heavyweights Al Duhail.

In Group A, 2003 winners Al Ain secured an impressive 3-0 victory at Pakhtakor in Tashkent, while Turkmenistan side Ahal defeated Saudi opponents Al Fayha 1-0 at home to record only a second win in the competition.

In the East Asian side of the draw, South Korea’s Incheon United opened their Group G account with a 4-2 win over J.League champions Yokohama F Marinos in Japan.

As a result, Incheon sit on three points alongside Chinese Super League side Shandong Taishan, who were made to work for their 3-1 victory in Manila over Kaya-FC Iloilo of the Philippines.

In Group I, South Korean champions, and 2020 Asian Champions League winners, Ulsan Hyundai won at home over Thailand’s BG Pathum United 3-1, while Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale saw off hosts Johor Darul Ta’zim 1-0 in Malaysia.

The group stage, which this year returned to a home-and-away format for the first time since early 2020, runs until mid-December, with the 10 pool winners and the six best second-placed teams advancing to the knockout rounds.

That begins in February with the final taking place across two legs in May.
