A Texas business owner has become popular on social media after he refused to repair two World War II-era Hitler Youth knives, brought in by Nazi sympathisers. Johnathan Sibley, co-owner of the Blade Bar in Edom, took issue with not only the knives but also with the specific repair requests by the customers with the entire incident caught on camera.

As per the clip, the couple, who remain unidentified, entered the store at about 1 pm localtimee, carrying two sheathed knives. “What are we wanting to put in,” Mr Sibley could be heard asking the customers in the exchange caught on video.

“I need the emblem out of that,” the woman replied, pointing towards a Nazi symbol on the handle of the knife, adding that she wanted it placed on the second weapon.

“Nope, won’t do it,” Mr Sibley responded immediately.

“Nope, you’ve got Nazi bulls**t. If you wanted a modern German forestry seal of something in…I will de-Nazify s**t but I won’t re-Nazify s**t.”

As per the National Holocaust Centre and Museum, Hitler Youth was the youth body of the Nazi Party which sought to indoctrinate the children into the Nazi ideology. The group was declared illegal after the war.

Quizzed about the incident, Mr Sibley told CBS19: “I have spent more time on TikTok in the past three days than I have ever spent on TikTok cumulatively and it’s not even watching videos just trying to read and respond to comments,”

“Shame on the people who walked in there,” Rabbi Neal Katz of Congregation Beth El in Tyle thanked Mr Sibley for his effort. “We are literally having apparently parents or grandparents go in there and trying to get paraphernalia which is so offensive and disgusting to the world but they do it so brazenly and openly.”

As the video went viral, hundreds of social media users praised Mr Sibley for standing his ground against hate and ensuring that the Nazi sympathisers were called out for their beliefs.

“You are a man of honour making a positive impact,” said one user while another added: “Thank you for standing up to the hate by refusing these people’s disgusting beliefs!”

A third commented: “This is fantastic!!! Thank you for standing up and saying you won’t do it. “De-Nazify, not Re-Nazify.”

Hitler led Germany into World War II as leader of the Nazi party and ordered the Holocaust genocide, where six million Jews were murdered.

UFC Featherweight fighter Bryce Mitchell has caused a social media uproar after he praised Adolf Hitler by calling the Nazi leader a “good guy”. 30-year-old Mitchell, who is ranked 13th in the featherweight division was on the ArkanSanity Podcast where he made the controversial remarks, stating that Hitler only wanted to “purify” his country.

“I honestly think that Hitler was a good guy based on my own research, not my public education indoctrination. I do really think before Hitler got on meth, he was a guy to go fishing with,” the American fighter said.

“He fought for his country. He wanted to purify it by kicking the greedy Jews out that were destroying his country and turning them all into gays,” he added.

“They were gaying out the kids. They were queering out the women. They were queering out the dudes. Do you know where the first tranny surgery ever was? Happened to be in Germany before Hitler took over.”

The Anti-Defamation League’s chief executive Jonathan Greenblatt slammed Mitchell for the range of antisemitic, homophobic and transphobic comments.

“I’m aghast at this podcast interview. There are simply no words,” Mr Greenblatt told BBC.

“In the span of just a few minutes Mitchell manages to express antisemitic, homophobic, and transphobic sentiments. We hope the UFC will take immediate action to make clear that these ideas are noxious and have no place in the sport.”

Dana White reacts

Reacting to Mitchell’s comments, UFC boss Dana White released a statement, calling Hitler the “most evil human being”.

“Hitler is one of the most disgusting and evil human beings to ever walk the face of the Earth and anyone that even tries to take an opposition position is a moron,” said Mr White.

“That’s the problem with the internet and social media. You provide a platform to a lot of dumb and ignorant people.”

Despite the gravity of Mitchell’s statements, Mr White said UFC would not take any disciplinary action against the fighter owing to freedom of expression.

“It’s free speech. That’s the beautiful thing about this business, for all of you who hate Bryce Mitchell, you get to see him hopefully get his ass whooped on global television.”

Adolf Hitler was the dictator of Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945.

A private school in the US is making news for giving assignments to Class 8 students on Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945. According to Fox5 Atlanta, the students were given a series of questions asking them to rate some of Hitler’s characteristics as a leader. A screenshot of the question-and-answer assignment given by Mount Vernon School in Atlanta to the students has been posted on X by Fox5 reporter, highlighting the sections that are causing controversy.

In one of the questions, students were asked, “According to the Mount Vernon Mindset rubric, how would you rate Adolf Hitler as a ‘solution seeker’?”

Another one asked students to “rate Adolf Hitler as an ethical decision-maker”.

Both the questions included options like “Lacks Evidence, Approaching Expectations, Meets Expectations, Exceeds Expectations”.

The questions sparked an outrage with some parents expressing concern and questioning if these are anti-semitic in nature.

Students too found the questions “troubling” and wondered if the questions glorified the Nazi leader.

“Obviously, that looks horrible in the current context. Knowing Mount Vernon, we do things a little odd around here,” one student told Fox5 Atlanta.

One student said he can see the school’s intended approach to critical thinking.

“I can definitely see why they’d be upset, but overall, I think it’s important to look at both sides of the coin in every situation and I think it’s important to be able to compare and contrast everything that’s happened in our world history, whether it’s been good or bad,” said the student.

The outlet also spoke to some former students who said these questions weren’t given to them during eighth grade.

When school officials came to know about the phrasing of the questions, they removed if from the school’s curriculum.

The principal of Mount Vernon, Kristy Lundstrom, wrote in a statement that the assignment was “an exploration of World War II designed to boost student knowledge of factual events and understand the manipulation of fear leveraged by Adolf Hitler in connection to the Treaty of Versailles.”

Berlin authorities have announced their plans to give away the villa for free.

Berlin’s government has decided to give away a villa once owned by a major Nazi figure for free in view of its expensive upkeep, reported The Telegraph (UK). The property in question is a lakeside villa with a disturbing history. The estate, located in the countryside north of the German capital, was once owned by Joseph Goebbels, the propaganda minister of Adolf Hitler.

Berlin authorities have announced their plans to give away the villa for free, the report said.

Goebbels, a high-ranking official in Nazi Germany, was part of Hitler’s inner circle and played a major role in shaping Nazi propaganda.

He was known for his skill in using media platforms like newspapers, radio, and films, to spread Nazi propaganda and control information flow within Germany. He, along with his wife and six children, died by suicide towards the end of World War 2, reports History.com.

Goebbels’ 17-hectare estate and villa was built in 1936 and used for various purposes, including his affairs with actresses.

Today, the property is owned by the state of Berlin, which is facing difficulties in maintaining it due to high costs, and its disturbing history associated with the Nazi regime.

Berlin’s Finance Minister Stefan Evers said that the property was “a gift from the state of Berlin” to anyone who would like to “take over the site.”

Since 2000, the property has been uninhabited, and the villa, located about 10 miles north of Berlin, has deteriorated significantly. The property now has broken windows and missing parts, and needs renovation.

There are various proposals for the estate, including a takeover by the federal government or the neighbouring state of Brandenburg. It can also be bought by a private owner.

However, if no suitable proposals come, the state of Berlin may have to demolish the property, which is cheaper, compared to renovation.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau apologises for the events surrounding Ukraine President Volodomyr Zelenskyy’s visit at a media availability in Ottawa, Ontario, on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau apologised Wednesday, September 27, 2023, for Parliament’s recognition of a man who fought alongside the Nazis during last week’s address by Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Mr. Trudeau said the speaker of the House of Commons, who resigned Tuesday, was “solely responsible” for the invitation and recognition of the man but said it was a mistake that has deeply embarrassed Parliament and Canada.

“All of us who were in the House on Friday regret deeply having stood and clapped, even though we did so unaware of the context,” Mr. Trudeau said before he entering the House of Commons. “It was a horrendous violation of the memory of the millions of people who died in the Holocaust, and was deeply, deeply painful for Jewish people.”

Mr. Trudeau repeated the apology in Parliament.

Just after Mr. Zelenskyy delivered an address in the House of Commons on Friday, Canadian lawmakers gave 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka a standing ovation when Speaker Anthony Rota drew attention to him. Rota introduced Hunka as a war hero who fought for the First Ukrainian Division.

Observers over the weekend began to publicise the fact that the First Ukrainian Division also was known as the Waffen-SS Galicia Division, or the SS 14th Waffen Division, a voluntary unit that was under the command of the Nazis.

“It is extremely troubling to think that this egregious error is being politicised by Russia, and its supporters, to provide false propaganda about what Ukraine is fighting for,” Mr. Trudeau said.

In Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier this week that the standing ovation for Hunka was “outrageous,” and he called it the result of a “sloppy attitude” toward remembering the Nazi regime. Russian President Vladimir Putin has painted his enemies in Ukraine as “neo-Nazis,” although Zelenskyy is Jewish and lost relatives in the Holocaust.

Speaker of the House Anthony Rota stepped down on Tuesday, September 26, after meeting with the House of Commons’ party leaders, and after all of the main opposition parties called on him to resign.

House government leader Karina Gould said that Mr. Rota invited and recognszed Hunka without informing the government or the delegation from Ukraine, and that his lack of due diligence had broken the trust of lawmakers.

In an earlier apology on Sunday, Mr. Rota said he alone was responsible for inviting and recognising Hunka, who is from the district that Rota represents. The speaker’s office said it was Hunka’s son who contacted NMr. Rota’s local office to see if it was possible if he could attend Zelenskyy’s speech.

The Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies has called the incident “a stain on our country’s venerable legislature with profound implications both in Canada and globally.” (
