SRH’s 277/3 vs MI Is Now The Highest In IPL! A Look At Top 5 Totals In The League

Posted on March 27, 2024 By admin

Mumbai Indians on Wednesday got associated with a forgettable record in IPL history. The five-time champions got thrashed for 277/3 runs in 20 overs by SunRisers Hyderabad  – the highest ever total in the history of the IPL since 2008. Before this, Royal Challengers Bengaluru had scored 263/5 against Pune Warriors in 2013. On Wednesday, the SRH batters’ onslaught ensured that the 11-year old record was broken.

SunRisers Hyderabad batters went hammer and tongs right from the word go as Mumbai Indians were just clueless. Abhishek Sharma hit a 16-ball fifty while Travis Head hit half-century in 18 balls. Courtesy their onslaught SRH scored 148 in 10 overs – the highest in IPL history.

Highest team totals in the IPL
277/3 – SRH vs MI, Hyderabad, 2024
263/5 – RCB vs PWI, Bengaluru, 2013
257/5 – LSG vs PBKS, Mohali, 2023
248/3 – RCB vs GL, Bengaluru, 2016
246/5 – CSK vs RR, Chennai, 2010

Talking about the game, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a mammoth 277 for three, the highest total in IPL history, against Mumbai Indians on Wednesday. Sent in to bat, Travis Head, playing his first IPL game this season, blasted a 24-ball 62, while Abhishek Sharma slammed 63 off 23 to lay the foundation.

Heinrich Klassen (80) and Aiden Markram (42) provided the late charge to take the hosts past the 250-mark.

The previous highest total was 263 for five, achieved by RCB back in 2013.

It was a nightmare for the MI bowlers as all of them, barring Jasprit Bumrah (0/36), ended up leaking more than 10 runs per over.

Brief Scores: Sunrisers Hyderabad: 277 for 3 in 20 overs (Heinrich Klassen 80 , Travis Head 62, Abhishek Sharma 63; Piyush Chawla 1/34).
