The team confirmed on Thursday that Mick and Nikita will be driving for Hass F1 Team for the 2022 season.
“We knew we wanted continuity behind the wheel in 2022 and I’m happy to confirm exactly that with Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin competing for Uralkali Haas F1 Team next year,” said Team Principal Guenther Steiner.
HISTORY
The youngest team on the grid, Haas made their highly impressive debut in 2016, and in the process became the first all-American-led F1 squad in three decades. Founded by industrialist Gene Haas. The team is based in the United States. The Ferrari-powered team, led by the charismatic Guenther Steiner, also have a UK factory in Banbury.
MICK SCHUMACHER
Swiss-born German racing driver racing for Haas in Formula One under the German flag, and a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy. He began his career in karting in 2008 and progressing to the German ADAC Formula 4 by 2015. After winning the 2018 FIA F3 European Championship, Schumacher progressed to Formula 2 in 2019, and won the 2020 Formula 2 Championship. He is the son of seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher and nephew of Ralf Schumacher. In 2011 Schumacher drove in the KF3 class of the ADAC Kart Masters, ending in 9th. The Euro Wintercup of the KF3 class where he was 3rd in 2011 . In 2013 he previously finished 3rd in the German Junior Kart Championship, and the CIK-FIA Super Cup KF juniors. In 2014 he started in International Junior Championships, ending the season 2nd in the German Junior Kart Championship.
NIKITA MAZEPIN
Russian driver racing for Haas F1 Team in the 2021 F1 World Championship under a neutral flag representing the RAF. He previously competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship for Hitech Racing. Mazepin was named test driver of Sahara Force India in 2016. He made his F1 testing debut in the in-season test at Silverstone achieving a best lap time of 1:31.561. He stayed in that role for the following two seasons. Racking up 100 laps at the Hungaroring in 2017 and 51 in 2018 at the same track. The following year the Russian took part for Mercedes in the 2019 Barcelona test achieving fastest lap of 1:15.775.
