Rishabh Pant Gets BCCI Nod For IPL 2024, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Shami Out

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared Rishabh Pant fully fit for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Pant, who has been undergoing rehab for 14 months, had started practicing ahead of the new IPL season, and has now been given the nod to join the Delhi Capitals camp. In its release, the BCCI, however, confirmed that pace bowlers Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna will not be able to participate in the T20 league this season.

Pant had suffered a near-fatal car accident in December 2022 and has been completely out of cricketing action since then. The wicket-keeper batter started to play cricket a couple of months ago. He joined the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru (NCA) and worked rigorously on his fitness to be available for IPL.

The BCCI release read:

Rishabh Pant:After undergoing an extensive 14-month rehab and recovery process, following a life-threatening road mishap on December 30th, 2022, near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, Rishabh Pant has now been declared fit as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.

Prasidh Krishna: The fast bowler underwent surgery on February 23rd, 2024, on his left proximal quadriceps tendon. He is currently being monitored by the BCCI Medical Team and will resume rehab at the National Cricket Academy soon. He will not be able to take part in the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.

Mohd Shami:The fast bowler successfully underwent surgery on February 26th, 2024, for his right heel problem. He is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team and is ruled out of the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.

As for Prasidh and Shami, the pace duo’s absence from the IPL 2024 season could deliver a big blow to their chances of representing the Indian team in the T20 World Cup that takes place right after the conclusion of the T20 league.
