Gorakhpur Cops stated on Monday (July 12) that a woman allegedly sold her three-month aged son here for 50,000 rupees and fabricated the story of his kidnapping to curtain the incident .
CCTV displayed the baby discovered two hours after the incident. Cops revealed that his mother and another woman caught for interrogation.
Salma Khatoon, a resident of the Ilahibagh area under the Gorakhpur police station, informed the police of the kidnapping story.
She fabricated a story saying that a woman wearing a red sari fled with her son in the Rasoolpur area
SP (City) Sonam Kumar and a police squad reached the site and started looking for the baby.
“As the mother kept changing her statement and telling the story of the kidnapping, the suspicion grew. The Gorakhpur police scanned the CCTV clip in the area, found that Khatoon had handed her son to another woman and rode in an e-rickshaw.
“With the help of the camera, the police started tracking another woman and found her location on Humayunpur Road. The baby recovered,” said SP.
The police alleged that the father of the child was a ragpicker, and the woman sold her son in extreme poverty, adding that one of the parties claimed that it was an adoption case, while the other party claimed the baby in exchange for 50,000 rupees. on.
Police said they are investigating the matter and that it will be clarified once the investigation is complete. However, they said that action will be taken against the mother because she lied that the child was abducted.
According to the source, the mother trafficked her son without notifying her husband, who, when inquired about the kid, fabricated the story of his kidnapping.
