On Twitter, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) wrote: “I am saddened by the tragedy of Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh. I express my condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. PMNRF will provide the next of kin with a compensation of 200,000 rupees. Those who lost their lives .”
Earlier, the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, announced a special offer of Rs 500,000 per person for the close relatives of the victims of the incident. CM said it will also provide Rs 50,000 in compensation and free medical care to the injured.
On Thursday night, a rescue operation was underway to rescue a teenager from the well. The incident occurred when a well parapet wall collapsed in the village of Lal Patar in the Ganj Basoda area, 50 kilometers from Vidishu. During the rescue operation, a tractor deployed to work slid into the well with four policemen. State Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang told PTI that 11 bodies had been found and 19 had been removed from the well. According to the news agency, the last body recovered from the well was that of a child.
The rescue operation ended, and the whereabouts of all missing persons were unknown, Sarang added.
According to locals, the well is about 50 feet deep and the water depth is about 20 feet. When some people came out to rescue the boy, others stood on the railing to help them. Witnesses said that when the surrounding walls collapsed, these people were thrown into the water.
