New Delhi: Delhi Police arrested Two people, two days after a jailed gangster and his two attackers died in a shootout inside a Delhi courtroom.
The arrested men are Umang and Vinay, the police sources said. Both accused are residents of Haiderpur in north west Delhi.
Meanwhile Sources said the cops arrested the men based on the CCTV footage from gate number 4 of the Rohini court in north Delhi where the shootout unfolded . On the day of the attack, Umang, along with the two shooters, reached a mall in Rohini’s sector 9. They dressed as lawyers, the sources said.
Also Upon reaching the court, Umang, according to the plan, had to wait in the car, sources said. The shooters were expected to finish the job and escape in the waiting car, police added.
Meanwhile as the plan derailed and the shooters died, Umang ran away, police said.
Following this Friday, gunmen dressed as lawyers, present in court, shot gangster Jitender Gogi thrice. Special force personnel escorting the gangster then fired back, killing both the attackers on the spot.
In videos, gunshots are heard in court and policemen and lawyers are seen in a scramble in the court building.
The shooting was the result of a rivalry of years. This was between Jitender Gogi’s gang and the rival “Tillu gang”, the police said.
“Two men dressed as lawyers opened fire at Jitender Gogi inside the court. That’s when police retaliated and killed those two assailants. It’s not a gang war,” Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana had told NDTV.
“The police acted swiftly and killed both the assailants. Total three are dead, including Gogi,” said Mr Asthana.More than 25 people have died over the years in clashes between the two gangs, the police said. Shootouts are horrendous and destroy the mental peace of the city along with the people witnessing it. Image credits: unsplash
