PM Narendra Modi addressed the “Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa” programme today, in which he lauded Goa’s contribution to the Indian economy. PM said that Goa is a key centre of India’s tourism. “Goa is the key centre of India’s tourism and thus, in India’s economy. In the last few years we have given every form of support to promote tourism and hospitality. The Central government has also supported Goa for the development of tourism hubs,” the Prime Minister said at the programme.
Speaking about the COVID-19 vaccination drives, PM Modi said “In India’s vaccination campaign, special incentives, special incentives are provided to states, including Goa, which is the centre of tourism. Goa has also benefited a lot from this,”.

He further appreciated Goa’s outstanding performance in implementing centre’s schemes. “India set the goal of being free from open defecation and Goa has achieved this target 100%. The country set a target of providing electricity connection to every household and Goa achieved this target as well. In Har Ghar Jal Abhiyan- Goa became the first state to achieve 100% implementation. Goa has achieved 100% implementation in the matter of giving free rations to the poor as well,” Modi said. The Prime Minister also added that infrastructure bieng developed in the state will help in increasing the income of fishermen. “Incentives are being given at every level from various ministries for modernization of fishermen boats. The fishermen of Goa are getting a lot of help under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojna,” PM said.

PM Modi addresses Goa’s football craze:
In the meeting, Prime Minister Modi brought up Goa’s passion and craze for football. “Goa’s paasion and craze for football is at a different level altogether. The state is walking ahead with renewed confidence and new found team spirit…,”. He added that just like every player, whether “defence” or “forward” is goal oriented in football, the Goa administration is also goal oriented.
