Militants attacked in the Assam district on Thursday night. Five died and one injured.
Militants ablazed trucks in Assam’s Dima Hasao district. The incident took place around 8:30 pm on Thursday, August 26 at Dayangmukh, Dima Hasao district.
The current meaning of militant does not usually refer to a registered soldier. Militance may or may not include physical violence, armed combat, terrorism, and the like
The police said around 8:30 pm, a group of armed men stopped the trucks, and started firing. Among the armed men, six were carrying cement and one loaded with coal.
Jayant Singh, superintendent of police, Dima Hasao “The group fired at the vehicles for several minutes and then set them afire. Five persons have died in the incident and one sustained injury. All of them are drivers and handymen of the trucks.”
Authorities suspect the involvement of the Dimasa National Liberation Army, formed in April 2019 in the brutal attack.
In recent months, members of the outfit have been killed in gun battles with security forces or have surrendered. Dimasa is one of the indigenous tribes of Assam. DNLA claims to be fighting for protecting the tribe’s culture, language and restoring the Dimasa kingdom.
