CM Banerjee’s announcement on Wednesday, a huge number of ‘sahayata kendras’ have blossomed in various centers of the city. These centres function as local help services for individuals who privileged to any kind of benefits from any government plans. The sahayata kendras aids free citizens from engrossed in bureaucratic red tape over the administrations of different policies.
A citizen requires to get government assistance to attain these bureau offices any time between 10 am and 5 pm. The prime such centre became active on Thursday at the Number 9 Bureau Office. In the presence of Firhad Hakim (municipality administrative head and Bengal cabinet minister for housing and transportation). And the municipal commissioner of Kolkata, Vinod Kumar. Shortly after the launch at 9 am, a small group of people gathered in front of the office building.
The public of the city are reportedly anxious over this new venture since it would mean not having to make continual rounds of government offices. Be it benefits from schemes such as Kanyasree and Khadya Sathi or getting an Aadhaar card, these centres will provide many purposes. Already the public are queuing in front of the offices in their anticipation of a quick remedy to their problems.
Speaking to the media, Firhad Hakim explained, “The Sahayata Kendras are one of the key administrative amends undertaken by the state government. Today it commenced with bureau number 9. In the coming days, there will be one such commission in every single ward of the city.”
