Bihar, 16 people died , consuming fake alcohol. 16 people reportedly died in Champaran, Bihar, in the past two days. They allegedly drank fake alcohol in the past two days while some people were fighting for their lives in the hospital. The incident occurred in some villages in the Lauria neighborhood in the West Champaran district.
Deputy CM Renu Devi said to the news agency that the Bihar Government was monitoring the situation. “The probe is in progress, the official is working on it, local people are not ready to talk about it, we are carefully monitoring the situation,” She said.

So far, of all those killed, the family of 8 has not mentioned drinking problems, Magistrate Kundan Kumar said.
“Two village chowkidars are also suspended,” said a press release issued by the district administration. Sale and consumption of liquor has been strictly prohibited in Bihar since April 2016.
“We have received reports about the deaths. However, their actual reasons are yet to be confirmed. A probe is currently being processed,” Lalan Mohan Prasad, DIG of Champaran range said.
Meanwhile, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav came down heavily on the Nitish Kumar-conducted government saying thousands of individuals are dying every year due to artificial liquor “under good management”.
