251 people were found to have come in contact with the 12-year-old boy who had succumbed to the Nipah virus infection previously.
Health Minister, Veena George informed. Out of these people, 38 were being quarantined in Kozhikode Medical College and 11 showed symptoms.
The Ministry has proactively sent the samples to Pune, for testing so that the infection can be prevented from spreading at it’s earliest.
A medical squad has already completed rounds of visit to the child’s house and nearby regions. Another team from the Animal Husbandry Department also inspected the locality.
“The blood and serum samples of the two goats, owned by the child’s family, will be tested at the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases in Bhopal,” the Minister stated.
