Netherland’s Predicted XI vs Australia, Cricket World Cup 2023: Dutch Look For Redemption

Posted on October 25, 2023 By admin

Netherlands will square off against Australia in Match 24 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on October 25 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, India. The match commences at 02:00 PM IST. The Dutch team struggled early on in the competition with massive defeats to Pakistan and New Zealand. However, they shocked South Africa with a 38-run win for their first victory of the tournament. The Netherlands head into the match against Australia following a five-wicket loss to Sri Lanka. However, despite the margin, the Dutch took the Islanders down to the wire.

Openers: Vikramjit Singh, Max O’Dowd

The Netherlands’ opener Vikramjit Singh started the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with a 67-ball 52 against Pakistan, although in a losing cause. He will look to come back into form after a couple of low scores in the last few matches.

Max O’Dowd, meanwhile, has complimented fellow opener Vikramjit Singh at the top, the right-handed batter will have to step up against the experienced Australian bowling line-up if the Dutch team has to have any chance against the five-time champions.

Middle order: Colin Ackermann, Sybrand Engelbrecht, Teja Nidamanuru, Scott Edwards

Colin Ackermann is the leading run-getter for the Netherlands in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The right-handed batter has scored 127 runs at an average of 31.75 with a strike rate of 84.66 so far. Colin Ackermann top-scored with 69 against the Kiwis earlier in the competition.

Sybrand Engelbrecht has scored 118 runs at an average of 39.33 and a strike rate of 77.12 in the previous three games. He notched up 70 runs against the Lankan attack, his highest score in the tournament so far to propel his team to 262 in their previous encounter.

Teja Nidamanuru will have to perform with the bat in the middle order if the Dutch team has to breach the 300-run mark against the Aussie attack. The Indian-origin Dutch all-rounder is yet to set the World Cup on fire but given his ability to perform under tough situations as witnessed in the World Cup Qualifiers, we can punt on him to come good.

Scott Edwards has been one of the notable performers for the Netherlands in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The right-handed wicket-keeper batter has racked up 124 runs at an average of 41.33 at a strike rate of 108.77 in four matches so far. Scott Edwards made a crucial 69-ball 78 in the team’s emphatic win over the Proteas last week.

All-rounder: Bas de Leede

Bas de Leede has been the star performer for the Netherlands cricket team in this competition. The all-rounder is the leading wicket-taker for the Dutch so far with 7 scalps. The right-arm pacer pocketed his best figures of 4/62 in the World Cup against Pakistan earlier in the tournament.

Bas de Leede is also a handy batter lower down the order.

Spinners: Roelof van der Merwe, Aryan Dutt

Roelof van der Merwe, the left-arm spinner, has been quite effective in the middle overs for the Dutch in stemming runs and keeping the opposition in check. Roelof van der Merwe has bagged four wickets in four matches. His figures of 2/34 in the team’s win over South Africa are his best so far in the tournament.

The Dutch off-spinner Aryan Dutt has complemented Roelof van der Merwe well in the tournament, Aryan Dutt has been impressive with his guile on the slow Indian tracks. The tweaker is the Netherlands’ second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 6 scalps and registered his best bowling figures of the World Cup (3/44) against Sri Lanka.

Fast bowlers: Logan van Beek, Paul van Meekeren

Dutch right-arm pacers Logan van Beek and Paul van Meekeren have scalped 4 wickets each in this tournament. The duo will have to be at their best if they have to keep the likes of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh in check on Wednesday.

Netherlands Predicted Playing XI vs Australia:Vikramjit Singh, Max O’Dowd, Colin Ackermann, Sybrand Engelbrecht, Teja Nidamanuru, Scott Edwards (C&WK), Bas de Leede, Roelof van der Merwe, Aryan Dutt, Logan van Beek, Paul van Meekeren
