Vaccination Drive in Sri Sathya Ganesh Temple, Bengaluru, worshipers queued for “Darshan”, special “Poojas” and “Prasaada”. However, the excited residents saw a sudden sight in the temple premises-a vaccination crusade.
Local officials of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike have arranged a desk to furnish first and second doses of Covaxin and Covishield to those who required their injections.
“Ahead of the third wave, we should vaccinate the maximum number of individuals. BBMP has given us the dominance to arrange for vaccination drives at various sites. So I thought of performing a vaccination drive in a temple where a lot of people assemble during the festival. This is the biggest temple in this locality. We are looking for the necessary approval from higher officials, temple management and organized this drive two days ago,” said Dr Sagarika Prema, medical officer, Jaraganahalli ward.
As per a local, he had resulted positive for Covid and hence could not obtain the first dose all these days. This vaccination drive was a lucky coincidence. As per his opinion, giving vaccination is more humble than offering worshippers ‘prasada.
The vaccination drive immunized 500 individuals, and will pursue to vaccinate inside the temple in the future.
62% of Bangaloreans obtained their first dose and 3% of the population were symptomised with Covid19 previously.
