Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami the youngest CM till date of the state, visited the Sahastradhara-Maldevta link road to assess the damage done by the deluge. As the downpour continued in Sahasradhara , the water level of the rivers increased. This let to the consequent flooding of the nearby places. The torrent caused destruction to infrastructure and buildings in many parts of the city.
The cloud burst which occurred on Tuesday caused water logging in many parts of the city.
The Chief Minister met and instructed the District Magistrate of Dehradun R. Rajesh Kumar to manoeuver the river and get the damaged part of the road repaired as soon as possible. He reassured the locals that the roads and the damaged bridge will be repaired at the earliest.
District Magistrate of Dehradun R Rajesh Kumar stated that the traffic on Ranipokhari Rishikesh road has been halted and diverted due to the collapse of the bridge. He has requested to the people not to travel via this route. The state government is taking steps to ensure that the construction work is completed as soon as possible, to relieve the common people.
