Authorities said on Tuesday that two BJP workers and their two private security guards were arrested for allegedly falsifying militant attacks in the Kupwara area of Jammu and Kashmir last week. They said that BJP workers Ishfaq Mir and Basharat Ahmad and guards were arrested on Monday. Officials said that
BJP workers colluded with the guards and forged the attack in Gurgaon, Kupwara on Friday night to improve security. Mir, the son of Mohammed Shafimir, the regional chairman of the People’s Party, was injured in the arm.
After preliminary interrogation, the police claimed that Mill was injured in an accidental shooting by a security guard. However, officials said that after continuing questioning, the defendants admitted that they had faked the attack to gain more security.
All of these people appeared before the local Kupwala court, which kept them in police custody for 7 days. At the same time, the BJP suspended the district chief and ordered an internal investigation. The spokesperson for
BJP in Kashmir, G M Mir, has been asked to submit a report by July 25.
