Opposition MPs TMC tore up the documents and threw them into the air on Thursday, and Rajya Sabha fell into chaos when IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw read a statement on the use of spyware by the Israeli company Pegasus to spy. When Vaishnaw was asked to make a statement on this issue, TMC and other members of the opposition party stormed the House of Representatives.
They shouted slogans and tore up what appeared to be a copy of the statement the minister was about to make. Because the document was released on the air, the minister was unable to complete his statement, but placed a copy of it on the table in the House of Representatives.
Vice President Harivansh called on MPs to stop their violations of Parliament and then postponed the proceedings of the House of Representatives. Opposition lawmakers also delayed proceedings earlier in the day, forcing two postponements and even not allowing the presentation of officially listed documents.
They ranted slogans on suspicion of espionage and other matters.
