Tamil Nadu shines ray of hope as the state decides to reopen educational institutions from 1st September.

Posted on August 22, 2021August 22, 2021 By Haris Daniyel

Tamil Nadu among the few states making some affirm choices after the nation breathed the virulent air of covid 19. Educational institutions shut its gates for its students last year in March and ever since then it hasn’t been opened, like some forbidden ancient shrine. Finally, Tamil Nadu and some other states are taking some measures to open the schools and colleges, as baby steps towards normalcy. Tamil Nanu government issued a circular where they stated that they will be reopening schools for classes 9 to 12 from 1st of September.

The pandemic took it toll not only on people’s lives and health but on myriads of levels. The psychological effect on the general population was humongous and the sense of claustrophobia engulfed even the best. The economy took a dip and has remained their for some time. Buisness were affected, large scale unemployment wrapped a blanket of dismay over the working class, people lost their jobs and the interminable list of issues keeps growing each passing day. Among these one of the imminent issue is the education of the future generation of this country.

After the schools and colleges were closed the institutions resorted to the online method of education. Initially which appeared to be as a modernized approach towards education soon had its effects on the psyche of the students and on their knowledge banks. The essence of the subjects were lost and both the sides, the teacher and the students did not connect like before. This also caused huge scale partiality for the students coming from a humble background. Also, for the students who were from rural areas suffered due to internet connectivity and also for the unavailability of the medium. The online exams granted good grades for sure but left the students with hollow and scanty knowledge.

Tamil Nadu Government along with their new set of relaxations included that the colleges and the schools will be reopened for classes 9 to 12 from the first of next month. The sanitization of the school premises has already started and the institutional bodies are specifically instructed to maintain strict covid protocols. They have further mentioned to maintain the 50% capacity decorum for any sports practices at all cost.

The government body also assured that soon further measures will be taken to ensure the reopening of the junior clases. It is a step forward towards hope and trying to get things back they were.
