On Wednesday, February 23, the Supreme Court of India rejected a petition to annul
the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), and other state boards’
offline tests. The hearing the case conducted today by a bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari, and CT Ravikumar.
The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition to annul offline board exams for Class 10 and Class 12, stating that hearing such petitions would just add to the system’s uncertainty.
The Supreme Court, said : “This cannot become the norm. Such petitions give false hope to students. They will be misled by such petitions,”
The Supreme Court likewise rejected the plea seeking an alternative method of assessment.
Students from throughout the nation submitted a petition in the Supreme Court, asking for the cancellation of board exams and evaluation of students using alternative evaluation methods.
Following that, the matter was presented to India’s Chief Justice, N. V. Ramana, who submitted the case to Justice Khanwilkar’s bench. So, thereby ordering the cancellation of board exams by the court led by Justice AM Khanwilkar.
Further,several students have requested the Cancelling Board exam 2022, citing a lost opportunity of education due to online education.
Before the Supreme Court filing, students used social media to urge the board exams for cancellation or postponement of the exams.
Several kids exchanged Tweets and told authorities about their difficulties.
