Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi posted pictures of his sons’ wedding on social media yesterday. Navjit Singh(Channi’s son) got married at a gurudwara in Mohali last Sunday. Several Congress leaders and MP’s attended the ceremony but Navjot Singh Sidhu’s absence was conspicuous. The former Punjab Congress Chief headed to Vaishno Devi instead. “Darshan of the primordial mother during Navratras is synergizing… Washes away all the dirt from my soul,” Sidhu tweeted yesterday and shared his pics at the holy sanctuary.
Navjot Singh Sidhu’s history of feuds with Punjab CMs’:
Captain Amarinder Singh:
Captain Amarinder Singh, the former Chief Minister of Punjab, resigned from his post in September after some Congress leaders allegedly put a question mark on his abilities. While announcing his resignation at a formal press conference, Amarinder Singh made it clear that he would not endorse Sidhu’s name as his successor. The former CM labelled Navjot Singh Sidhu as “incompetent” and accused the latter of having freindly relations across the border. “I will nott allow the man(Sidhu) to come. He is an anti-national element….He is has friendly relations with Imran Khan(Pakistan’s PM),” Amarinder Singh said in an interview.
Shortly after Capt. Amarinder Singh resigned from his post, Navjot Singh Sidhu followed suit. “Collapse of a man’s character stems from the compromise corner. I can never compromise on Punjab’s future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab. Therefore, I hereby resign as the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Will continue to serve the Congress.,” Sidhu wrote in his resignation letter.
Charanjit Singh Channi: (The current CM)
Navjot Singh Sidhu’s video in which he abused Charanjit Singh Channi went viral a couple of days ago. In the video, Sidhu can also be heard saying that “They should have made me the CM” and “He(Channi) will sink Congress in 2022,”. Sidhu’s absence from the event discussed above consolidates the rumours of rising tensions between the two.
